Welcome to “Beach Plum Cottage.” Located on a quiet cul-de-sac just off West Gulf Drive, this charming cottage is a short walk to a private access path to one of the world’s finest shelling beaches. If you prefer to relax at home, the spacious caged pool area has ample room for lounging. The pass-through bar area from the kitchen makes enjoying a cool drink very convenient. Our property is located on a cul-de-sac and borders a quiet tropical lake. Wildlife is attracted to the peaceful surroundings giving the property a "nature preserve" feel. We are a short walk to the beach and a short drive to local stores. Our garage and driveway off ample private parking.

Bookings are technically for 28 days, Sanibel law prohibits us from taking short term bookings. . We do normally give you the entire month for the quoted rate whether the month is 28 days or 31 days. A security deposit of $250 is required to hold a booking. This deposit will be refunded to the renter within 2 weeks of the unit being checked out by the cleaning service once the term of the lease has expired. Purchase of trip/damage insurance is strongly suggested, and if so, the $250 can be refunded immediately after check-in.

We had a wonderful month at Plum Beach Cottage. The owners, Bruce and Patricia, were most welcoming and helpful in making arrangements for our stay and for making sure we had what we needed the entire month.
We loved the layout of the house and it was obvious that care had been taken in the decorating throughout with lovely pastel colors, very comfortable living and bedroom furniture, and a large tavern dining table with bench and chairs. Plum Beach Cottage was well maintained and was accurately described with all of the amenities.
The screened -in pool area was a haven for all of us for swimming all day long (especially for our granddaughters ages 4 and 8), for cocktail parties early evening using the pass-through bar window, for early morning coffee, for afternoon reading or for watching the ospreys, ibises, cardinals or the occasional alligator in the lake at the edge of the property in the backyard.
The close proximity to the beach was great -only minutes away to set up our umbrellas and chairs for the day, for watching breathtaking sunsets, or for collecting beautiful shells. The bike paths as well were close by for easy access to nature trails, shopping or a casual lunch.
We enjoyed several restaurants on Sanibel and Captiva and would recommend Traditions for dancing and family dinners, Grandma Dot's at the marina for boaters and galley food, the Mucky Duck on Captiva for ocean side food and the Mad Hatter for Foodies. We would also recommend going to the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Center and on the Tarpon Bay Nature tours.
Sanibel has so much to offer! And staying in Plum Beach Cottage is a home away from home!!!

If you are looking for a vacation where you are running around an amusement park this ain't it. If you are looking for a vacation where there is loud music, flashing lights and a wild dancing night life this ain't it. Although I am sure these things are available nearby this is not why one comes to Sanibel.
If however, you enjoy floating in a warm pristine pool with a frozen drink in your hand...If you enjoy just sitting on the sand or swimming in the gorgeous, emerald waters of Florida's gulf coast...If you find joy in the simple pleasure of casting some bait 15 feet off the beach and catching all different species of fish (I caught 6 different types) and then taking them home to grill...If you love having your choice of dozens of excellent restaurants within a couple of miles to choose from...If you enjoy riding a bike (which the owners provide) from your driveway and within minutes pedaling through protected sanctuaries with a stunning variety of wildlife...If you want to walk along the beach hand in hand with the one you love and see the most amazing sunsets imaginable...Then this vacation is for you. Aside from all the natural beauty you will experience, the owners of this gem of a cottage have truly thought of everything and have anticipated every need you might have.
We will be back but until then, every time the stress of work or life in general gets me down, I will call on my memories of Sanibel to get me through.

We are old Sanibel people who love the island We were tenants for six weeks in Bruce's first year and for four weeks in the second year and are signed up for six weeks in 2012 and a month in the fall of 2011. Bruce has been wonderful to deal with and he offers a wonderful rental property.

We stayed for the month of July at Beach Plum Cottage with 3 small kids (ages 9, 6, and 4) and our dog and cannot wait to return next year! The bedrooms were well equipped and fit our needs perfectly. The pool was an oasis to visit every day! The walk to the beach is short and leads you to some excellent shelling and pristine Florida beach. The house overall had everything we needed and then some--laundry, appliances, fans, everything! There were even bikes to use, although we didn't take the time to do so. What set the trip apart was the "happy-to-help" demeanor of Bruce and his wife! We were greeted by a care package including crackers, wine, cheese, coffee, milk, and orange juice! It was like a 5 star hotel at economy price. The kids are begging to return and we (the parents) are more than willing to oblige! Thanks for a great family trip, Bruce!

We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The shelling was out of this world, and having a pool just outside the back door was a daily blessing. The view of the quiet lake is a great finish to the feel of total relaxation. We'll be back as often as possible.
