Ashton, MarylandPerfect location: clean, quiet but close to many places to eat a
Left on 02/05/2013 for a stay in January 2013
This villa had absolutely everything needed for a week's vacation - 100% supplied with all essentuals. Location was perfect - close to the beach, but away from all the traffic and noise a few blocks back on the commercial strip. Our 2 little dogs felt right at home, and enjoyed occasionally sitting on one of the screened in lanais looking for jumping fish? Or maybe just waiting for one of us to return from reading on the canal lawn. The villa was very spacious and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole week on Sanibel, especially the privacy afforded in the 'duplex' setup. Great place!

Surprised by all of the amenities. Bikes, dishes, walking distance to the beach. All the things you didn't think about when you booked your vacation. We will be back soon!

CtExceeded my expectations, which were high.

One always hopes that a rental will equal or exceed its photographs and description, and Beach Road Villas did--a happy outcome for us. We felt quite at home immediately, and the owners/manager have provided a very useful book of tips about Sanibel and possible restaurants, stores and attractions.
The villas are a little older than the newest condominiums, so are very spacious, with nice features such as two large lanais. Our villa had obviously been freshly cleaned--carpet vacuumed, the refrigerator washed out, and so on. I agree with another reviewer about the bathrooms, which show their age a bit. Still--they are just fine, and better than many. The owners are fairly new to the Villas, I gather, and have been working hard to renovate them. The paint choices and furnishings are excellent. I found the kitchen to be reasonably well equipped with the basics.
The availability of beach equipment, bikes and helmets was a big plus for us. (The kayaks are no longer available to guests.) The beach is a very short and pleasant walk away, and the waterway behind the Villas provides a water view. The grounds are very appealing and well maintained. There is also a vacant lot next door with additional play space.
One can buy groceries on the way to Sanibel. There are many grocery stores along the route. Beach Road Villas is also very conveniently located near the causeway, and the more developed section of Sanibel. It is, however, quite quiet and secluded.
All in all, we were extremely pleased with the Villas, and look forward to returning. -

We were located just a few blocks from Periwinkle Way (the main road) and just minutes via a beautiful walk to the beach. Our villa unit -The Lighthouse - was exactly as shown in the pictures, very nice. The grounds were nicely maintained and we were surprised to find a waterway so close in our backyard. We didn't see the manatees, but were lucky to have a pair of osprey nesting in view of our lanai - entertainment out our back door. Biking/walking trails are everywhere and made getting around so easy. The bikes that came with our rental were a big bonus, but we had to sort through the assortment to get a couple that worked well, and although they weren't the prettiest bikes, they took us on many daily excursions. :)
We cooked many of our meals and found cooking supplies/utensils very minimal. I wish I would have brought some seasonings from home - we even had to buy pepper. Other Vrbo's we have rented in the past have, perhaps, raised our expectations in this area. We have always had such items as aluminum foil, plastic wrap, garbage bags, etc included.
Our unit was very clean and tidy with the exception of the tub/shower area. There was more than a little mildew on the shower door tracks and oily dirt areas on the tub. In looking around the bathroom, I had the feeling they may have had some water damage in the past (bumpy unpainted spots on the walls) and are maybe getting ready for an update, I hope.
I would definitely recommend this rental, but bring some cooking supplies for the kitchen and some scouring powder for the bathtub. -

St. Michaels, MarylandGreat place with lots of surprises!
Left on 10/05/2011 for a stay in October 2011
From the time we made the reservation we were pleasantly surprised. We booked on line and felt very comfortable doing so because their site advertised that we could cancel at anytime at no costs to us. When we found a better price thru another website, the owner readily agreed to match that price with no problem.
When we arrived we met one of the owners hard at work and you can tell that he took great pride in the property, it is very well maintained on the outside with lots of curb appeal. We were actually an hour early but he said our unit was ready and we could go right in. We have been renting vacation homes for years and this was a pleasant surprise as you usually have to pay for early check in. As soon as we opened the door I knew I liked it - it was clean and smelled great. Even though it is not right on the beach, it is a pleasant walk (about 300 yds) through a pretty tree lined walkway. You can't beat the price they charge, because not only is each unit supplied with 2 folding chairs and a beach umbrella, but you can go into the garage and use a wagon to take your things to the beach, use all of the floats and boogie boards, and ride the bikes complete with helmets at no additional charge. Hard to find deals like this anymore! We don't own a boat but it would be great for someone who did, since it has a dock out the back door. One final note - the bed was wonderful! -

Ancaster, CanadaLast Min March Break Fun
Left on 08/14/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We booked almost 5 days before March break...we did not expect too much, but we truly enjoyed our stay. We travelled with 4 teenage girls. Booked online, when we arrived everything was ready, no waiting at all. We found the place neat and tidy. We loved the use of the bikes...road everywhere around the island. Best way to travel is by the bikes...loved the ones with the basket so we could go shopping. The Manatee in the back that greeted us each morning was an added bonus for all of us. The villa/condo was perfect for our party, would be great for 2 small families or for 1 large family. With a pull out on the main floor, 1 king and a queen there was lots for room for all of us. Nice walk to the beach via little path. Should we travel back this way again we will stay here for sure. Not a busy location, lots of little extras like use of bikes (big saving seeing as there were 5 of us) use of beach stuff, they even have wagons so you can wheel everything to the beach. Found food to be expensive on the island so pack enough from mainland so that you only need minimal stuff on the island. No disappointments here at all. Only regret, we didn’t get a chance to check out the hot tub.

Boston, MAThe Beach Road villas are a Hidden Gem
Left on 07/31/2010 for a stay in November 2009
My family and I had a wonderful time at the Beach Road Villas. The villas are nestled in a private and lushly landscaped corner of the historic east end of Sanibel. Ding Darling Wildlife Reserve is a short bike ride away and showcases much of the truly breathtaking wildlife Sanibel has to offer. Our villa was very clean and spacious enough to comfortably accommodate our family of 6. Bikes, beach wagons, umbrellas, and kayaks were available free of charge to Beach Road Villas guests. My family took full advantage of these amenities and spent our days golfing, relaxing at the beach, and bird watching while on Sanibel. The worst part of the stay was leaving when our vacation was over. This place is truly a hidden gem and I highly recommend it!

Wichita, KsBeach Road Villas - our favorite place to stay on Sanibel
Left on 07/25/2010 for a stay in January 2010
We have been to Sanibel several times in the last 5 years and once we stayed at Beach Road Villas, it is the only place we have considered since. It has all the comforts of home with the island ambience, and canal view. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We always look forward to our next trip there.
