This was a perfect base of operations for exploring southern Tus

Left on 12/04/2012 for a stay in October 2012

My husband and I rented this lovely apartment for 4 weeks (September 29 to October 27, 2012), and it was a perfect home base for exploring southern Tuscany, Umbria and the Marche, which abound with historical, artistic and cultural sites and splendid scenery. The apartment itself is comfortable, large, well-equipped and well maintained. Franco and Louise are great - warmly hospitable and very helpful. For example, my phone had gone missing in Rome, and they offered to lend us one of theirs, then helped us get an inexpensive local replacement. Another example: my husband, an avid fly fisherman, wanted to fish for trout in the upper Tiber, which flows past Sansepolcro. We mentioned that to Franco when we checked in, and he quickly researched the process for getting the necessary licenses, and Louise went to the Post Office to process the necessary application. Subsequently, my husband happily caught and released many brown trout.
The apartment is very well located. The historical center of Sansepolcro is within easy walking distance and has much of interest to see. The town walls, famous art, beautiful buildings and town square are very accessible, as is a fascinating (really!) museum of early pharmacy: the Museo de Erbe. Good grocery stores are handy, free and safe parking is right across the street, a small local train station accommodating a private line to Perugia is right next door, and highways for other day trips are easily accessible. A car is very handy, as is a GPS. (We brought our Garmin GPS, with a European chip, and it worked fairly well.) This was the best of many very good rentals we've had in our travels around Italy and Sicily. We recommend it enthusiastically and would go back in a heartbeat if the opportunity presents. Thanks, Louse and Franco, for everything.

      Beautiful apartment in picturesque town

Left on 10/22/2012 for a stay in September 2012

My husband and I stayed with Louise, Franco and their son, Alex for three weeks during the month of September. Their apartment was spotless, well stocked with a day's supply (or more) of food. They were extremely helpful in suggesting postcard-quality routes and towns to drive. The apartment is a 3-minute walk to the beautiful town of Sansepolcro. The train station with service to Perugia is also a 3 minute walk. The Tuesday and Saturday flea markets were a delight. It was wonderful to go shopping daily in the town for fresh produce. There are several restaurants all within the town with excellent food. Louise arranged a wine-tasting and olive oil tour (a must). Everything in the rental description was met or exceeded.

      Perfect accomodation

Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in September 2012

The location is perfect: outside inner city, but walking distance to city center is 10 minutes.
Apartment is very spacious, comfortable and cozy. The private garden is a great place to dine&wine; in the evening.

It was above our expectations. Truly recommendable.
Do not be afraid of train station nearby, only a few trains per day are scheduled and there is no noise at all.

      Live as an Italian

Left on 08/30/2011 for a stay in May 2011

We wanted a spacious apartment with a sitting out area in a non touristy town as a base for our 6 weeks exploration of Tuscany and Umbria. This one in Sansepolcro was ideal. Louise, Franco and their son were very hospitable while giving us privacy.I was a little concerned about the noise of the nearby end-of-the-line train station but the once an hour, short, mostly electric train became one of the rhythms of the day, like the ringing church bells. Living across the street from the walled town meant a short walk to shop, for a gelato or to join the passegiata. Some of our favourite shops . .Pasta Fresca, Chieli(pastry),Ottimi Vini(wine), Martini(butcher), Casa del Caffe, Panificio La Spiga(bakery). We shopped the twice weekly market for produce, meat (find the porchetta man), fish, cheese, etc, and the nearby Coop for basics and a good selection of wine. On the third Saturday of the month, the market has many local food artisans. It was great! The locals were patient as we practiced our Italian. A highlight of Sansepolcro are the frequent festivals when the Piazza and surrounding streets are filled with strollers of all ages well into the night. We spent our first week without a car getting to know the town, and took the local train to Perugia. From arezzo we took the train for day trips to Florence twice, Rome once, and the bus to Siena. We drove to anghiari,Monterchi, Gubbio for the Palio della Balestra (great!), Cortona, Chianti country, The Crete, Assisi, Deruta, Montefalco, Torgiano, Urbino. If we sound enthusiastic - we are! Grazie mille Louise and Franco!

      Wonderful

Left on 02/04/2011 for a stay in September 2010

My friend and I spent a wonderful vacation in SanSepolcro. Louise and Franco were very helpful. The apartment its self is very well furnished. There is a lovely patio. I especially liked eating breakfast on the patio, visiting with the owners cats and enjoying an espresso in the afternoon. The apartment is furnished with books, videos, brochures and maps of Italy and the surrounding area.
My friend and I simply wanted to experience the Italian life and that is what we did. Each day we could walk to the local market and shops, eat a gelato, pick up groceries or go shopping in a variety of shops. We found SanSepolcro a wonderful base for traveling to nearby cities, Siena, Perugia, Arezzo, Cortona, La Verna and Caprese, Michelangelo's birth place to name a few. It was especially fun to visit during a particular festival, like the tartufi or festival. Of course a hightlight was the Ballestra in San Sepolcro and watching the famous display of flags.
I would certainly recommend the apartment and SanSepolcro to anyone looking for a place to stay. I am already planning my return visit.

      Lovely apartment in Sansepolcro

Left on 01/28/2011 for a stay in June 2010

My daughters and I stayed at Louise's home in Sansepolcro and were very pleased with the apartment. It was as described with a lovely garden to spend quiet mornings. The apartment was within walking distance of the walled city which we walked to each evening to get some gelato. There are several nice restaurants in the area. On our last evening, there was a lovely antique fair in the walled city. It was very enjoyable mixing with the locals enjoying the fest. The train is within walking distance of the home and can take you to Perugia rather quickly. We very much enjoyed our stay in Sansepolcro and hope to visit again soon.

Modern comfort across the road from charming medieval town

Left on 01/26/2011 for a stay in May 2010

We spent three weeks in the apartment and loved being a three minute walk away from the center of a medieval town full of friendly locals. The apartment is beautifully cool in hot weather and we enjoyed breakfasts and dinner out in the garden.

Louise and Franco made us feel welcome, had lots of suggestions for places of interest to visit and provided lots of maps and helpful guidebooks
