      Great house for whole family

Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in August 2012

This was perfect for our family that ranged my 83 year old father to my 19 year old daughter. Well maintained, fully loaded. Will stay there again when we come to Santa Barbara.

An easy house to manage and so convenient to everything

Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in November 2012

We loved the convenience of this house. The bedrooms were quiet and well organized in the house. The centrally located kitchen was very well equipped and bright. Each day when the sun came out, we headed to the beach walking or just settled into a chair in the sunny yard with a book.

      Warm and Welcoming

Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in September 2011

Our stay in Montecito was for our daughter's wedding. When the house we originally rented fell through, Paradise Rental did a superb job in finding us Sand Dollar Retreat.
What a treasure! The home is very warm and welcoming. The decor is just perfect. Every amenity you'd need complete with all the instruction for appliances, sky lights, everything.
For our stay we didn't need the upstairs area. If you have children or teenagers, they will love the open space upstairs for games, sleeping and just hanging out.
The deck, BBQ and back lawn area simply complete the list of what you'd need for a memorable vacation get away. A short walk to the beach too.

Sand Dollar Retreat was a true beautiful retreat!! :)

Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in November 2011

My 14 year old daughter and I stayed at the Sand Dollar Retreat for one week in November and loved every moment there. The cottage was so clean, beautifully decorated and had all the amenities we could ever have hoped for. We never wanted to leave this little spice of Heaven. We really enjoyed the hot tub in the cool evenings and the short walk to the most beautiful beaches, Miramar and Hammonds was wonderful. We fell in love with Santa Barbara and fell in love with Sand Dollar. :)

      Wonderful house and neighborhood

Left on 05/20/2010 for a stay in February 2010

The house and yard were beautiful. The kids claimed the upstairs rooms for themselves and loved it. The ability to sit outside, let the kids play in the yard and cook before or after the beach was fantastic. The house was extremely well maintained and well furnished. The only drawback was that the closest beach (a couple of hundred yards away) was rocky and completely under water in high tide. This required a longer walk to a larger/nicer beach, but it was through a wooded foot path and the beach at the end of the walk was excellent.

      Daughter's Wedding

Left on 05/20/2010 for a stay in November 2009

The property was a perfect to house several family members during the days surrounding my daughter's wedding in Santa Barbara. All arrangements moved forward smoothly. Proximity to the beach was special. The property provided a delightful experience for all of us.

      Quiet beach retreat

Left on 05/14/2010 for a stay in May 2009

This was a comfortable home with a nice-sized living space. We had 6 adults and 2 kids and were completely comfortable. The bonus room upstairs was great for the kids to romp around in (ages 3 and 2). We had a nice cookout on the patio with 8 adults and 4 kids. The best thing about this place was the well kept grounds with the extra game room and lawn overlooking the creek. The most disappointing thing was that the nearby beach was somewhat drab and shallow at high tide.

      Extraordinary Beach House

Left on 10/07/2009 for a stay in August 2009

The Sand Dollar Retreat exudes quality and class, while comfortable and very family friendly. The entire property is very well maintained, and is furnished with first class products, from furniture to kitchen appliances. The amenities are wonderful - the ping pong table, jacuzzi, TVs - all great.
Sand Dollar Retreat really is just a half a block from the beach, just across the train tracks, which, by the way, don't worry about! My kids loved running up to watch the train pass, yet the noise factor was not an issue at all.
I felt very at home in the Sand Dollar Retreat. The backyard became my private reading room while the kids loved the loft.
I highly recommend this property for families that want to enjoy the retreat, stay on the property and eat in either the indoor or outdoor dining areas. The kitchen is to die for and the Weber grill is fantastic. I like to think of it as my home away from home. We will be back!

      Family Beach Getaway in Monticito

Left on 08/23/2009 for a stay in July 2009

When I started looking for a place for our family to vacation at the beach, I went on-line to see what might be available. I e-mailed about a particular house but received a phone call saying that it was already rented out for the summer. The gal from Paradise Retreats then told me about the Sand Dollar Retreat. I was a little apprehensive about renting sight unseen, but the house was everything that we could have hoped for! It was perfect for our family of three married couple and three small children. Each bedroom had a very comfortable queen size bed and the kids had a ball staying up in the attic bedroom. The house is decorated beautifully! We used the kitchen alot and we very much enjoyed cooking in it. We especially enjoyed eating dinner on the patio when it was warm enough in the evening to do so.

The location was great! Even though the homes are close together in the neighborhood, it seems like you are in your own little hideaway with all the hedges around the property. And the flowers were so beautiful! We had a lot of fun shopping in the nearby areas, especially in Santa Barbara. The beaches were great. The guys had such a great time riding the waves at Butterfly Beach and Carpentaria. The Santa Barbara Zoo was a great hit with the kids.

We loved everything about the house. The only negative thing I have to comment on is that we were told that the kitchen had alot of spices so we didn't bring our own, but there was only salt and pepper so we had to buy what we needed at the store.

We hope to stay at the Sand Dollar Retreat again!

      Happy Home

Left on 08/22/2009 for a stay in July 2009

We arrived to an immaculate and utterly charming cottage near the
sea. The house itself could not have been more perfectly laid out for
our family reunion; nor could it have been better appointed. Everything
had been carefully thought out for our comfort and enjoyment, from
the plush towels and comfortable mattresses to the furnished kitchen
and Bose stereo (that played my iPod perfectly with the provided
cable.) We walked to the beach, watched movies, played games, and
had a beautiful time in a beautiful home. We briefly wished for more
ping pong balls, and were surprised to find the foosball game was a
tad warped. But seriously, if only all of life had problems no more
      serious than that!

      Perfect location and wonderful house

Left on 06/25/2009 for a stay in May 2009

My family rented the Sand Dollar for a month. We had a perfect vacation there as it is located very close to the beach but far enough away to be warm when it is not at the beach. The yard is private and perfect for kids. The house is very nice with all of the amenities you would need but not so nice that you feel like you can't just live in it. The management company was very helpful but also did not bother us. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful and the Montecito farmers market is just a bike ride away! I hope to rent it again next summer!

This house was great. Its in sort of a strange nook of Montecito, but very close to the beach and very spacious for a small cottage. It accomodated 2 adults and 4 children easily. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. This is a really reasonable way to take a family vacation.

      Peaceful and Beautiful Beach Rental

Left on 05/27/2009 for a stay in October 2008

I highly recommend this house! It's even more comfortable and
beautiful than it appears in the pictures. It served as the perfect
multigenerational vacation house for us including grandparents and
young kids. And if I have the chance to return to the Santa Barbara
area, I would check the availability of this home. It has the perfect
setup for dining outside. There are multiple spots to grab a book and
read in peace. And the perfectly clean garage with ping pong table
and fooz ball gave us another area to have fun. This home included all
the necessary beach goodies - sand toys, boogy boards, & towels. It
      was perfect!!!

This house is perfect for a young family! The garage was a great escape for the kids and the hot tube for the adults. The home is fully enclosed and there is even a backyard behind the garage. The added bonus to the house is the upstairs where the kids could hang out. Access to the beach is also very convenient. Thanks Sand Dollar Retreat!

Left on 05/27/2009 for a stay in August 2008

The property and the location were both excellent suiting the needs of our young family. Being British we love to walk everywhere - so the property was handy for the beach and lower Montecito village. We had more than enough space within the property in this plush peaceful environment.
We will definately return to this property once the exchange rate improves.
