Left on 04/03/2013 for a stay in February 2013
The house is perfect for two couples. It contains all the necessary amenities and has a very warm feeling. It definitely felt like home away from home. We highly recommend it. The location is ideal for in-town wine tasting and wonderful restauants and walks.

Calgary, ABRoad riding in wine country
Left on 02/27/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We had a great week road riding around Los Olivos. The house was perfect for the 5 adults in our group. We loved using the amazing kitchen and appreciated the hot tub after our long rides. We didn't really spend much time at the house as we were out biking most of the time but when we were there we loved it. The 2 markets in town were pretty expensive so we did our grocery shopping in Solvang or Buellton instead. The house was beautiful inside and out. It was quiet and well equipped. We would love to stay there again.

Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in November 2012
This house by far exceeded our expectations. It's right in downtown Los Olivos...literally two house down from Los Olivos Cafe. You could park your car and never drive again all weekend and be able to cruise through the tasting rooms right downtown. The home was beautifully appointed with a gourmet kitchen. The two bedrooms are very private and can be separated from each other and the rest of the house by simply closing off doors in the hallway. I would highly recommend this home.

Left on 08/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The wine country cottage is spacious, warm, light and will make you feel right at home! The kitchen is stunning with all modern appliances and beautiful counters, just begging to be utilized. The backyard provides a beautiful oasis and place to hang out. The rooms provide great space and our family of 5 (plus baby) were perfectly comfortable! The home is located right on Grand avenue just a block from the action in Los Olivos. This adorable little wine country town hosts 30+ wine tasting rooms and a handful of delicious restaurants within a 5-block radius.

Left on 07/24/2012 for a stay in June 2012
All aspects of our stay met or exceeded our expectations. The cottage is only a block away from the "town center" but was quiet and very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped for any type of cooking! I enjoyed the small but lovely garden.
One potential suggestion would be to increase storage for clothes (limited dressers) and/or hooks for hanging clothes. This is a minor feedback point. -

Left on 04/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012
5 minutes from downtown Solvang, tucked into a secluded hillside setting, the cottage was the perfect place for a family to enjoy a weekend. The natural surroundings were intriguing to our small children, the quiet and peacefulness was great for the adults. Accommodations were exactly as described. We cooked a lot, used the grass grill, and used the fire pit one night. Internet was tough to get working but seriously, no internet needed to relax at this wonderful spot.

Austin, TXSanta Barbara County Wine Cottage
Left on 10/25/2011 for a stay in May 2011
The cottage is on the main street of Los Olivos in the heart of the Santa Barbara wine country. The home is beautifully maintained, has all the features you would want on your stay, gorgeous grounds and in the heart of everything you would want on a wine country excursion. Looking out the back french doors, we thought we were in a Sunset magazine display. Kitchen is meant for fine cooking and we took advantage of that.

The place is so centrally located that we enjoyed the surrounding wine country everyday and all the restaurants at night. Cooking in twice was a pleasure. The kitchen is big enough for a few of us to join in and cook. It was so delightful, we want to return again and again. It is gaining in popularity, as seen on the calendar. I shall miss being able to have it so easy to reserve!

The name of the management company, Paradise Retreats, more aptly describes this beautiful home. The attention to detail is obvious in every aspect, from the tasteful furnishings, manicured gardens and serene fountain to the inviting spa - everything was literally picture perfect. Los Olivos is a sleepy little town with incredible charm and convenient to many wonderful wineries. The entire experience was quite unforgettable.

Left on 08/24/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We shared a 4 night escape to explore the Santa Ynez wine country with friends. We had a great time in the cottage...clean, convenient, well decorated, and we especially enjoyed the patio in the late afternoon to share a bottle of wine and the garden. We had wonderful meals at the Fess Parker Inn and the Ballard Inn. We tried the Los Olivos Wine Merchant and Cafe, but were treated poorly by the hostess, and didn't return. This was our second trip to the area, and we will definitely return...with any luck to the Wine Country Cottage.

Los Angeles, CALovely house with a beautiful garden, in a great location
Left on 08/24/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We had a lovely time at the Wine Country Cottage. The property is beautifully maintained and everything we could have desired was there. The garden in the back is particularly beautiful and we took several lovely pictures of our baby daughter there.
Our only complaint (if you can call it that) is that we were a bit put off at first when we received the contract for the rental. Having rented many different homes for vacations, we found it the longest we had seen, and it seemed a bit excessive in its warnings. But I assume perhaps the owners have encountered problems in the past, and so maybe this is how they prevent potentially unruly or destructive renters.
That said - do not let the contract dissuade you, in all other regards we found the owners quite friendly and helpful, and the experience was very positive. Enjoy! -

San Rafael, CALovely!
Left on 06/15/2010 for a stay in May 2010
This home was so tastefully decorated, we couldn't believe it! We rent vacation homes 3x a year and this is by far the nicest, for the value, that we have stayed in. Yet, it still invited you to put your feet up and relax...and relax we did! We found the Santa Ynez to be an absolutely wonderful place...the only thing missing was andy, Opie and aunt Bee! The single only problem we had was that we didn't sleep so well...a slightly more comfortable bed would be appreciated! Otherwise, we were very happy, which is why we've already booked for next year!

Marin County, CACan't wait to go back!
Left on 05/20/2010 for a stay in October 2009
This vacation home has to be one of the loveliest places we have ever stayed at. Gorgeous home, with an eclectic vibe - I guess I'd call it Cottage-Modern for want of a better term. I've always been apprehensive about the place not living up to the photos. This was quite the opposite.
Wonderful chef's kitchen with practically every appliance you can think of. I just wish we'd stayed longer than a weekend so we could have taken advantage of the kitchen.
All the bedrooms and bathrooms were beautifully furnished and our co-guests could find no fault.
It's a short stroll to downtown Los Olivos to enjoy the many wineries and restaurants (warning - expensive!). But there is a large grocery chain a few miles away so better to load up on produce and enjoy the kitchen and the large BBQ out back.
Make the short drive to Solvang for a touch of Sweden. Santa Barbara not far either for great shopping.
This would be a marvellous place to bring your bikes.
Any fault we found was only minor (electric short using the toaster)that I'm sure is now resolved.
We certainly aim to go back at some point.

Telluride, COGood time in Wine Country
Left on 05/13/2010 for a stay in January 2010
This house in Los Olivos was excellent...very well equipped, nicely furnished and perfectly located. Two minor problems: when the garbage disposal didn't work, it took two phone calls to get someone to respond to our problem. The lovely kitchen counters of zinc were lovely to look at but extremely impractical for a rental property: every water mark stained the surfec, so we had to be incredibly careful every time we place a dish on the counter tops. Definitely would rent this property again

Our family stayed at the Wine Country Cottage in December, 2009, for 4 days
to celebrate our son's college graduation.
The home absolutely exceeded our expectations! Extraordinary first class
house, yard, furnishings, privacy, proximity to wineries, restaurants, etc.
Los Olivos is a special place, in that it has a cozy, upscale, small town feel,
friendly people, artsy, boutiques, and more.
The surrounding wineries are within reasonable drive times, and the
countryside is beautiful.

Palo AltoNice but too many problems
Left on 10/07/2009 for a stay in August 2009
The cottage was basically what we expected and in a good location for us. On
balance we enjoyed our stay, although it was marred by way too many
problems with various aspects of the place. I will enumerate
1) The disposal was jammed, which we fixed.
2) The DVD in the living room was not working: we switched with one in a
bedroom.
3) The lovely fountain ceased to work after the first day.
4) The bed frame in one of the bedroom failed due a weak leg -- at the foot
of the bed!. We propped up with a large rock.
5) The air conditioning worked reliably but was marginal for the temperatures
we had the days we were there.
On the other hand, the process of getting the rental worked out was efficient
and done in a friendly way.Response from Paradise Retreats-World Class Vacation Rentals - 10/14/2009

We appreciate this guest's honest review of Wine Country Cottage.
Occasionally a guest will experience one typical house problem like a jammed garbage disposal. Unfortunately in this guest's case they got a bushel of problems.
Every issue they mention has been professionally repaired, and the house is now in perfect working condition.
We hope we have another opportunity to share this fantastic wine country home with them, so they can have the perfect experience we strive to provide.

The home is decorated in classic cottage style, but still offers sophistication. Has a generous floor plan affording privacy for 2 couples or 3 if 2 couples don't mind sharing a bath. The landscaping is surprisingly well designed and lovingly maintained. The location is perfect for walking to the wine tasting rooms in Los Olivos and a short drive to all the wineries in the valley.
