Atlanta, GeorgiaWonderful home, great service!
Left on 05/10/2013 for a stay in October 2012
From our first inquiry by email, we were given excellent attention and bountiful information about the house and surrounding area. We could not be more pleased that we ended up choosing Caza Tzampoc for our Guatemala vacation in October 2012.
The home is even larger and more beautiful than we expected. Also, the manager was very helpful prior to and during our arrival. The gardener and housekeeper were there each day to tend to regular needs around the house, but were also very willing to help with special requests and local information. The gardener even made a kite by hand for our son on Dia de los Muertos, just like the local children had. A cook and a masseuse were available, but we opted to make our own meals and used that part of our budget for local art and textiles instead.
Casa Tzampoc is in what we considered to be the best location around the lake: close enough to Panajachel for convenience, but far enough removed for solitude away from the tourist crowds. Santa Catarina Palopó (an easy, safe walk) is authentic, lightly traveled, and offers plenty of local artwork and wares to please any visitor; San antonio even more so.
If you are considering staying at Lake atitlán, I highly recommend Casa Tzampoc. Enjoy a fire each evening. Relax in the pool each day, all the while enjoying the best overall view of the lake that you can find without climbing a volcano. -

Salmon Arm, CanadaThe Perfect home for families!
Left on 04/20/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This home is amazing! It was perfect for our family. We spent one week here of our 3 week visit to Guatemala. The pictures do not do this place justice, it is even more beautiful and picturesque than we thought it would be. Our boys, ages 12 and 10, spent many hours swimming in the pool and they had a little buddy, an affectionate cat named Slinky, hang around them when not in the pool. David Yates was great help for recommending day trips, and where to go to get groceries. He was always available by phone to answer any questions we had. Nicholas kept the pool and yard sparkling clean and immaculate. The house is cleaned daily and every room has an incredible view of Lake atitlan. We ventured out across the lake to San Pedro one day by boat, as well as Panajechal, a short drive from the house, did zip lining nearby, and met wonderful and friendly people everywhere we went. Guatemala is an adventurous and unique country and we would recommend it to all our friends and family. Thank you Barry and Nanette for opening your home to us, it surpassed our every expectation and it truly felt like a home away from home for all of us. A++, if you rent this home you will not be disappointed. And a big thank you to angela and her sister, Carmen. Their cooking is unbelievable; everything is made, from scratch, fresh that day and we were glad to have them cook most of our dinners and a few breakfasts while we were there. Also very inexpensive to hire them to cook, and even taught our boys how to make ravioli from scratch. The week we spent here was definitely one of the biggest highlights of our travels in Guatemala!

Words can not describe how incredibly beautiful this place is. The gardens, the view, the pool, the indoor plants, the decor in the home, were all amazing. I stayed here for my honeymoon, and my husband and I were beside ourselves with excitement when we arrived, the pictures do not do this home any justice. This was my second trip to Guatemala, my husbands first. We are very adventurous and did a lot of hikes and excursions during our stay, but there were a few days were we just said "lets just hang out and relax at the house today". We felt as if we were at our own private resort (which we were) and those days were amazing. The kitchen has everything you need to make a great meal, and the restaurant at the hotel next door was very nice and had excellent food. The only thing I regret is that we didn't have more people to share the home with. Since it was our honeymoon it was only the two of us. But we could have easily shared with another couple, and there would have been plenty of space. We did not want to leave! Can't wait to come back!

Jersey City, New JerseyCasa Tzampoc is more than just a villa with spectacular views...
Left on 12/10/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We recently went to Guatemala to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. She wanted to leap into her 30's by paragliding over Lake atitlan. We stayed at Casa Tzampoc eight of the thirteen days. From the moment we arrived, we fell deeply in love with Guatemala. It is a very special place. And often, the experience you have with a place is a direct result of the people "behind the scenes." Barry and Nanette are two of the most gracious hosts you could ever come across. Even before we booked their gorgeous villa, Barry answered many of my questions by phone! He was a wealth of knowledge and gave us great advice when planning our trip. Casa Tzampoc is a magnificent home and is beautifully decorated with pieces from local artisans. We felt completely at home there- as did our three year old daughter. The views are spectacular and the pictures can not capture the magic of the lake. David Yates, who owns the awe-inspiring 5 bedroom home next door to Casa Tzampoc is another person that helped to make our stay so memorable. He helped to coordinate and arrange so many exciting activities for us. From hiking to yoga to boat rentals to Spanish lessons, David put us in contact with the most incredible people. Also, Nicholas does more than care for the home; he is a kind soul that can share many interesting stories about the local area. And, finally, if you stay, you must have angela cook for you. Her Guatemalan dishes are to die for (I'm dreaming of her Jocon!), and her Italian dishes (amazing handmade pasta!) rival the best in NYC. We miss all of our new friends and we will definitely be back to visit!

USABeautiful House, Excellent Service!
Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Recently stayed at Casa Tzampoc with my family of 4 and my parents. The house is beautifully maintained and the service is incredible. The property manager is very accessible and is very helpful when it comes to making arrangements for everything. The views from the house are the best on the lake and the pool on the property is an added touch! The owners were very helpful when I was looking for information about the area. I highly recommend this property and hope to return again in the future.
