My daughter and I spent a wonderful four days at annie's cottage. It was so comfortable and clean. A very relaxing space thanks to annie's great decorating. We felt so welcome and relaxed. It was great to be able to take our dog and know he was safe in the fenced in yard. Having a hot tub was a wonderful treat !
The cottage is close to shops and the beach . We hope to have the chance to visit again! thank you annieResponse from Private Pleasure Point Beach Cottage - 04/18/2013

I am still grinning thinking about the five wonderful days I spent at Pleasure Point. Walked or biked everywhere, especially to the wonderful yoga studio around the corner. Shopped at New Leaf Market, soaked in the hot tub multiple times a day, slept great, and breathed in the fabulous ocean air. The cottage is so cozy, and I definitely could have shared the space with my husband and daughter, but I also loved having it all to myself in the quiet and safe neighborhood. The owner is wonderful and easy to work with, the house had everything I needed and was clean and ready for me when I arrived. I had easy access to Capitola and Santa Cruz and walked or biked along the water every day. Highly recommend!

Santa CruzWhen can I move in permanently?
Left on 10/09/2012 for a stay in September 2012
My husband and I have been contemplating a move from London, England, where we currently live and work, back to my native Santa Cruz. We decided to spend our honeymoon in the Cruz to see if our short visits had given us an accurate view of the town.
Upon arrival at the cottage, we were completely enthralled with the cozy retreat- a quiet backyard with beautiful garden and hot tub, and inside a total zen- serenity set by the decor. Extremely clean, and seriously, lacking nothing as far as amenities- the kitchen was fully stocked with equipment, plenty of towels, and even fresh coffee and flowers. We loved it!
The location could not be more perfect- two minute bike ride to the beach, or, if you are like me, a nice run along East Cliff Drive. Annie kindly supplied bike cruisers which were our main mode of transport- a huge amount of fun, exercise and savings! Near the cottage are variety of amazing places to eat, shop and drink- we found new gems every day we were there. I gained about 10 pounds on the trip, even with all the bike riding!
Annie is amazing- she lives next door, yet is completely non-intrusive. She is so friendly and warm, you feel like an old friend and beloved neighbor, not a random renting a cottage. She helped us out with any and all requests- without even hesitating!
I want to move in to the cottage and be annie's neighbor on a permanent basis, but that will sadly have to wait until our next visit to SC. We loved the cottage, loved annie and are already counting down the days until our next visit. I would give the cottage and annie 10+ stars if allowed! We have already recommended annie and the cottage to several of our UK friends who surf and would love the set up. A huge huge huge (infinity!!) thumbs up!Response from Private Pleasure Point Beach Cottage - 10/10/2012

Left on 07/22/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My wife and I stayed here with our dog for a couple weeks. We found the cottage very clean and comfortable. The bed is great. The furnishing and decor are all very nice and the hot tub was splendid. The front patio is a pleasant place to sip your coffee or share a meal.
The location is perfect. It's just a short stroll down 32nd ave (one of the prettiest blocks in pleasure point) to the market for coffee, or to the beach at 26th avenue. Or you can walk along the ocean cliffs and watch the surfers. Or just a bit further to the restaurants and shops on 41st ave.
All in all, it's a great place for a getaway in Santa Cruz.Response from Private Pleasure Point Beach Cottage - 08/15/2012

DenverGreat Escape!
Left on 05/21/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We stayed at the cottage for a week and really enjoyed it. It's small and cozy - but wonderful "home base" for 2 people, and even a kid or a dog if you were so inclined.
The location is fantastic - close to the beach (walking distance) and close to everything else (by bike or car). The kitchen is great and it's so nice to have a full fridge and freezer.
And there's a very nice hot tub! Brand new, and was serviced before we arrived and again for the next people as we were leaving.
If you're trying to choose between a hotel or a vacation rental (like we were), think of how much you'll save by not eating out every meal (although if you do want to eat out, Annie, the owner, will give you good recommendations!)
There is space to hang/fold clothes...free Wifi...small but adequate bathroom for one person at a time, unless you're skinny (no tub - but who cares - did I mention a hot tub?). The water pressure is good in the shower, the fridge works great, there were fresh lemons in a bowl, and fresh flowers in the vases, and even some coffee if you're into that sort of thing.
Other people (including us) have left things in the cupboards, so you might even find some of the things you need to cook right above the stove. If not, buy some at Trader Joe's and pay it forward.
Thanks for a great time - would love to come back very soon!Response from Private Pleasure Point Beach Cottage - 05/23/2012

Hobart, TasmaniaPerfect Santa Cruz experience - all you could want
Left on 06/15/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Where does one start? Okay, if you want a resort with brand new fittings, a football-field sized room, and an over-processed experience, look elsewhere. If, however, you want a gorgeous, genuine, spotless, full-of-character little pink cottage tucked away in an extremely quiet neighbourhood, with a perfect host and all the amenities you could ever ask, while still enjoying the quaintness of a century-old cottage, look no further than Pleasure Point Beach Cottage.
Annie, the owner, lives next door and is the perfect host. She's warm, friendly and bend-over-backward helpful, yet totally unobstrusive. She's also the BEST surfing instructor EVER and a 5 lesson package with her was amazing. Being one block back from the beach makes surfing a no-brainer.
The cottage is cosy and perfect. The bed is soft and comfy, there's cable TV and DVD, there's a little "meditation corner" and the kitchen has every possible utensil or piece of equipment you could wish for. The bathroom is spotless, and the water pressure perfect (and no shortage of hot water!)
The hot tub in the back yard is the BEST!
I stayed a month for work, and saved a packet as opposed to staying at a hotel, and I had a "real" Santa Cruz living experience to boot.
Annie's description of the place is spot on and honest - you will not be disappointed. I just wish I could have brought my dogs - they would have loved it too.
Thanks SO much, Annie - you really are the BEST!! xxx -

AlamedaWe had a great time!
Left on 06/04/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We had a great time at this cozy spot just a block away from Pleasure Point. The best things about the cottage are the private hot tub in the backyard, the quietness of the neighborhood and its close proximity to Pleasure Point, 41st Street and Capitola. We walked to the water every night to watch the surfers rip it at dusk and every day drove to different beaches to hang out and surf. Awesome! :)
Please note that this is a very small cottage! We spent some time figuring out how to fit our two longboards inside. We did it, but we ended up losing any space to walk around. We had planned to invite our parents to stay with us, but once we saw the space, we knew that it would be impossible, given the one-room layout and lack of a couch. We also had some ants come visit during our stay.
Overall, though, we had a great time!Response from Private Pleasure Point Beach Cottage - 06/07/2011

Melissa and Tom-
Thank you! Sounds like Tom got some really fun surf sessions in. And so glad you both enjoyed my cozy zen cottage. It is a really great quiet little zone and absolutely perfect for a couple. As a surfer myself I understand the, "where do I put two 9 foot 6 longboards and their bags?" Traveling with our "quivers" is a thing. I do know that most surfers with big boards usually do put them in the back patio but that is a personal choice. I too had some ant visitors during that late season rain but good to know they are back in their respected homes. ;-) It was great having you here! Come on back to Pleasure Point soon.

We stayed in the larger house on the property, due to the smaller being booked already, but it was great because we had our pup with us, who just loved the yard, since he doesn't have much of one at home, the house is so close to the beach, which was ideal for surfing. Also within biking distance to Capitola, a super cute town with beach, boutiques, wine tasting, and restaurants, and yet close to 41st, which has grocery stores, food, and more shopping. I don't know about the smaller house, but the larger does not ahave a microwave. Wasn't a problem, we just cooked our popcorn in a pot over the stove, but an FYI to those who may regularly use one. Overall, GREAT place to stay, hoping for better weather next time. Thanks Annie!

If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is the place to go! If you are looking for a starting off place for fun and adventure, this is still the place to go! The cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood just a short walk to the beach. If you want to sit and read a book, away from the pressures of "real life" you can do that here. But the Santa Cruz Boardwalk is a few minutes away and there's lots to do in this area. Oh my, I sound like a travel brochure writer, don't I? But my husband and I chose Pleasure Point Cottage because we just wanted to get away from home for a week, and we really loved it here. Our hostess, Annie, was as wonderful as all the other reviews say she is, and she made our stay a pleasure!

Our stay at Pleasure Point Beach cottage was really great. My wife, 6 month old, and myself stayed here for a month. There are lots of good waves in walking distance. The house was older, but had been remodeled and had nice cozy touches. The fact that it allowed dogs was a major reason we stayed here as well, and there was a great beach that was dog-friendly a couple blocks away.

Great place - 1920s beach bungalow with a nicely redone tile floor that makes it very dog friendly. We had a great time just leaving the doors open to create a beach breezeway while we sat and played with our new baby boy - plenty of room for a crib - great to have a bright kitchen so you can just lose the car keys while you enjoy being one block from some fantastic surfing (and a good spot to pick up your morning coffee). Thanks for introducing me to the sport, Annie! - if you're thinking of learning how to surf - or just to improve, Annie's a great instructor...great little front patio surrounded by (what I think were) ginger & jasmine.

From the environmentally-friendly household products to the inviting hot tub, I was able to get centered and experience some well-needed alone time. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this cottage. Annie was a great host and even popped in to see if I needed anything and to offer advice on the area.
The cottage is in a great location - a few blocks from the beach. I loved going to the beach early in the morning to watch the surfers.
The cottage comes stocked with everything you need and more. It's easy to make this a home away from home. The hot tub on the back patio was definitely my favorite feature.
The only downsides would be that the bedroom is in the same room as the living area so if you're travelling with others and someone wants to take a nap or stay up late etc. that might be an issue. The only other thing that was disappointing is that I didn't feel that this was "private" as the neighbors are incredibly close - having the windows open (instead of air conditioning) I heard all of their conversations so I'm sure they could hear mine. Thankfully the fences are high so you don't see them. Two mornings I was woken up around 8am by a neighbor using a chainsaw. I'm sure this isn't something that would happen all the time and I would still stay here again.

Thanks Amanda. I am delighted that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay and look forward to your return. I am glad that you appreciated my local knowledge :) My Private Pleasure Point Beach Cottage is a vintage 1920's style and as I continue to update it I have been careful to maintain the integrity of that architectural period. Coming into this cottage is stepping into the history of Pleasure Point. True that being in a neighborhood it is prone to the sounds of children on skateboards and bicycles and other residential sounds but it is a relatively sleepy cross street. And yes, please do come again. You are always welcome back. :) Annie

The cottage had recently been updated with new decor and it looked so cute and tranquil. Fresh flowers in several places made the place smell amazing! I brought my two dogs and we all just loved hanging out on the front patio soaking up the sun and watching the passersby. It was so nice to be close to a variety of great beaches. We particularly enjoyed the trail through Moran Lake Park to the beach that allows off leash pups! The hot tub out back under the stars was a great way to end each day after a beach sunset stroll. This cottage is in the perfect location - just a couple blocks' walk to Pleasure Pt. surf break and gorgeous beaches. It felt like my own place - the furnishings are cute and it's really cozy. Annie was so generous with sharing all the great places to go and the best restaurants, yoga studios, and cafes. I spent a perfect birthday weekend here. Can't wait to go back!

Stanford, CAA Sweet Spot at Pleasure Point
Left on 04/06/2010 for a stay in April 2010
The moment I walked in the door of the Cottage at Pleasure Point
I felt bliss. I appreciated the cleanliness and the well equipped
kitchen, but I did not expect fresh flowers. I took full advantage
of the private paradise the back patio offered. At night I slipped
into the hot tub, gazed at the stars, listened to the ocean, and
let all my cares melt. My dog and I enjoyed walking to the beach
and Capitola. This sweet spot provided me with everything I
needed and wanted for a wonderful vacation.
