We offer a beautiful two bedroom, one bath home on prestigious Opal Cliff Drive.
The Vaquita House is a newly remodeled cottage steps from "Private" beach, our gated neighborhood beach. We will provide you with a key to access this unique private beach and great uncrowded surf spot. A five minute walk along the ocean will take you to shopping and dining in Capitola Village and awesome Capitola Beach. Famous surf spots the "Hook" and "Pleasure Point" are also just a short walk away. A surfer's paradise; walk to your own break. Surfboad and wetsuit racks are right outside your door in a secure patio area for easy access.

We stayed here with our 2 kids aged 9 and 16. The house is very well equipped and it was great to self cater after 2 weeks of eating out. There is a patio with table and chairs and barbecue to the rear of the house and there was plenty of space for the 4 of us The gated beach was really nice and the short walk into lovely Capitola was fine. We would stay here again.

Vaquita House is the perfect home base while visiting the Santa Cruz, California area. Walking distance from fabulous restaurants and beautiful unique shops plus access to a private gated surf break and gorgeous beach! Everything you could desire is within an hours drive - wine country, Big Sur, redwood forests and my favorite - Julia Pfeiffer Burns state park. The home is lovely, spacious and comfy - plenty of room for 4! The owners brought us fresh muffins and wine - their hospitality can't be beat! A real gem!

10 min walk to Capitola, 10 min drive to Santa Cruz, 30 min drive to amazing Redwood forest, 5 min walk to private gated beach, excellent location! House was very clean, warmly decorated, and pleasant to live in. Kitchen is great for cooking at home, or there are about 15 quality restaurants within a 10 min walk/2 min drive. House had two bright bedrooms, could potentially have 4 adults there but would need to eat outside. We had two adults and a toddler and were fine, another kid would have been ok, too. House is located right next to owner, which allowed us to meet Christine, who is extremely nice and introduced herself. We did not have any issues with contract or check-in, just showed up and were ready to roll.

Thank you Scott for reviewing Vaquita House. I am glad that you and your family enjoyed the house. I just wanted to be very clear that the house has ample room inside for four adults to sleep, eat and hang out. Most of our guests are families of four or two couples. There is a table with two chairs in the kitchen directly adjacent to a large bar with two chairs. My husband and I join my inlaws for meals in Vaquita House frequently when they stay in the house and there is plenty of room. As you mentioned, there is a table with four chairs on the patio deck and many of our guests eat outside to enjoy the lovely flowers and sunshine. Thank you again for your review. Chris

Vaquita House was great. We could walk down the hill to Capitola village (5-10 minute walk) and all the restaurants. The location was nice and quiet with a nice backyard for our child to play in while we bbq'ed. Very clean and updated house. The owner was kind to give us a bottle of wine and cookies for our stay also.

The Vaquita house is a charming place in one of the best neighborhoods in Santa Cruz! The beach was wonderful and Chris and her Husband wonderful hosts! We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and treats from a local bakery on our arrival.
I will most definitely return when I'm in the Santa Cruz area.

Just stayed at the house the middle of Sept. Great, great location--close to downtown Capitola, the beaches, a private beach and shopping/dining--the Wine Festival. Great size for our family of three! It had everything we needed and we would definatley stay there again!

Vaquita House exceeded all of our expectations. We spent a full week there over the Thanksgiving Week. The house is beautiful, well kept and comfortable. The location could not be better with easy access to the best surf beaches (including a private local beach that comes with the house), Capitola and the greater Santa Cruz area. Several days we would leave the car and walk where ever we wanted to go. Great food nearby. The street in front of the house is one of the best running paths I've been on with beach after beach and lagoons nearby. Surfing, mountain biking and just gazing out on the sea made the days fun filled. Chris Shepard is a perfect host. She makes you feel welcome and shares her knowledge of the area so you too can feel like a local. I recommend Vaquita House often and we look forward to our return visit!

We stayed in this house in Aug 2009. We found the house to be of a very good standard great postion safe and quiet. The only small consideration we would ask is that it provides accommodation for 4 people, therefore it needs to have 4 dining chairs. as i said small note to consider.

Thanks for the feedback. The layout of the house really only allows for the two chairs at the kitchen table and the two chairs at the adjacent bar area. Also, there is a table and four chairs in the patio area for outside dining. Glad you enjoyed the house.

This is a wonderful property, very clean and convenient. The hosts couldn't be nicer. The location is excellent and within walking distance to everything that is Capitola.
