fourth or fifth year I've stayed a this little beauty. Close enuf to the ocean (one block) to get all the seaside weather from morning fogs, sunny days, and cool nights. within very easy walking distance of great places to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, sports bar, and the Boardwalk.

Love this area, nice cozy little house, love the back yard & outdoor shower and truly enjoyed it's original beach bungalow charm. Only thing we did not like is having to drive to aptos to get and return key - very inconvenient - so much that, although I would stay at this home, we may not rent from this company again.

4th year staying here. Hard to imagine a better location to get away from the arizona heat. Two blocks from Betty Burger (voted best burger in Santa Cruz), Brady's Yacht Club (voted best dive bar in Santa Cruz), and Seabright Brewery and Pub (excellent night life and bar food/drinks); also a very short walk to the Boardwalk (across the train tressle spanning the river below), and the Santa Cruz Wharf/Pier (several great restaurants and shops-as well as pier fishing, boat rentals, etc.; in the other direction, a short walk to the Santa Cruz Harbor/Marina which has a wide variety of ocean tours, etc.(highly recommend the Stagnaro whale watching trip into Monterey Bay-awesome spectacle to see huge whales breaching and cavorting around), two good restaurants (Aldo's-where you sit out in the open air and watch all the boats ), and the Crow's Nest-which is a regional watering hole for all locals and visitors-Thursday nights live beachside music and barbq). I guess what I'm trying to say is that once you get to 217 Seabright you dont need to drive anywhere to have a great time, so maybe you might have one extra glass of lemonade to fortify you for the ambulation. It's a short cab ride ($20) to all other local areas such as Capitola, Soquel, Aptos, downtown Santa Cruz (which is loaded with all kinds of shops and restaurants and clubs ( University of California-Santa Cruz is nearby) for several blocks in all directions.

The cottage was cute and cozy, conviently located as well. However, the house was not completely clean and had a strange oder when we arrived.
The hot tub was great at night, but don't use the fire pit! We had a fire one night and had a neighbor yelling profanities at us because of the smell and smoke.

Michelle was a VERY helpful in selecting this site. It was in the perfect location. She resolved the one small problem we had (garbage full) right away. The home is cozy and had everything we needed.

Everything was as described, Across from great beach, clean, cute tidy cottage, walked to boardwalk, brewery, harbor. used outdoor shower twice a day, same with hot tub. We have a family of 5 and we were a little much for the kitchen and family room. But it is right where you want to be.

If you like the Seabright, Castle Beach area, and have a small crew, this is the best you can do. A short walk down the tracks to the boardwalk, S Betty Burger for "breakfast", Seabright Brewery for a couple lemonades and some socializing, Brady's Bar for kicks, less than a block from the entry to the beach, a big hot tub to enjoy, a great kitchen with lots of stuff, and very quiet at night.

I spent the month of September 2008 at Castle Beach Cottage. The location of the home is fantastic and it is very neat and clean. I was able to bring my little dog with me which is a plus.
The only drawback that I could find is the kitchen layout. I love to cook and cook often as my children live in Santa Cruz. There was a lack of counterspace which I remedied by bringing the table on the patio into the kitchen. I could then sit 8 down to dinner.
This is a perfect little cottage for a small family who enjoys "fun in the sun".
