Steps from a clean, beautiful, peaceful beach. A hot tub out the back door. An exceptional kitchen, and shower, and tub. The details of the lighting and audio/visual equipment. And of course, location, location, location! We took a couple short day trips,to Monterey and Carmel. We felt like special guests and totally at home at the same time. Everything is provided, even robes for our use! Shannon made the whole experience so easy for us, and even welcomed us with a bottle of wine. I have never enjoyed a place more! Thank you Shannon!

I loved the big really comfy beds and lovely bedding. I appreciated plenty of good clothing storage space in both bedroom. i really enjoyed the lovely bathrooms with quality towels and toiletries. As a family who stayed in and cooked in an evening. It was really nice to enjoy the lovely open plan well stocked kitchen and the large comfy adjacent seating area, where we sat and talked and read. Mornings and evenings we frequently sat out in the many comfy chairs on the front porch enjoying the sun and a drink. Off street parking was a bonus and well appointed new washing appliances great. The rear yard was small, but more than adequate and the hot tub was a treat. I could hear the sea at night as the beach was only 1 block away and accessed via multiple wooden steps. A really clean lovely rental, that I cant fault, thank you Shannon.

We had an awesome time- I would defintely want to stay there again . Great location , so close to the beach. The house was amazing, super clean and so cozy.Nice outside patio in front and back of house.Has everything you would need .

What a beautiful home. It is evident from the moment you arrive this was not built as a vacation rental but as someone's home. Such attention to detail in the front gate, lighting, decorating, beautiful wood cabinets, fabulous gourmet kitchen with wolf range and subzero refrigerator and comfy, comfy furniture--we were in heaven! And to top it off, they allow dogs; even a 100lb shedding beast! Our pup loved being less than a block from the dog friendly beach and watching all of the cyclists and walkers from the front patio. We enjoyed the patio for sipping wine, reading a book in the gorgeous weather and listening to the crashing waves.
Shannon was a delight to work with. Shortly after arriving we called her about a problem with the tv (user problem) and she was at the house within 5 minutes. We felt guilty pulling her away from family, but she was very warm and gracious about the false alarm. We loved, loved, loved this home and can't wait to return in the fall.

This property exceeded our expectations. It was certainly attractive and comfortable, just as described in the listing. We were especially pleased with the peace and quiet to be found there! It was exactly the getaway we were dreaming of. We found it clean, welcoming and roomy for our party of three adults. The neighborhood felt friendly and safe -- folks stroll the beach with kids and dogs. People jog. Only a short walk to the local beach from the house but not so close to the Boardwalk area that there was any traffic or noise from people wanting to ride the rollercoaster. At night we could hear the surf in the distance.
The owners thought of everything when they designed this nest; it was obviously a labor of love. Guests may find a book there telling the story of the house with pictures of its transformation into the gem we visited. One of my favourite details is that there is lots of storage space in the main bathroom; it has two basins -- and two cupboards inside which there are electrical outlets! I used mine to charge my mobile phone. The master bedroom has generous closet space and we found plush bathrobes in both rooms' closets. Skylights added to the restful mood and enhanced the color and texture of the many wood surfaces.
We appreciated having the he washing machine and clothes dryer. The capacious refrigerator was useful as we frequented the natural foods stores in the general area (loved New Leaf Community Market). We hardly bothered to watch our bedroom televisions or the large screen unit in the living room as it was such a pleasure to go for walks or even to look out the windows. Truthfully, it was a wonderful place to read a book or nap, too.
My family is still talking about what a relaxing time we spent in Santa Cruz and how lovely the beach house was. They say I made a good choice booking it for our vacation and would be happy to return.
I would definitely recommend this property for a getaway of any length. We wish we'd had more time there. It would have been a fantastically romantic place for two!

What a treat to have found this wonderful beach rental! Working through the rental process with Shannon was a breeze, and she was completely accommodating to all of our requests. Check-in was seamless, and everything in the home was ready for us.
The home is truly amazing with beautiful woodwork, custom cabinetry, modern kitchen with top-end appliances and every utensil and appliance one could ever need, and luxurious bathrooms. We had a ball cooking in the kitchen! The home is warm and comfortable in every way.
We took advantage of the beach which is steps from the house and enjoyed the wonderful hot tub while at home. Shannon gave us wonderful suggestions for restaurants shopping centers, and we really enjoyed exploring Santa Cruz from here-- it was convenient to everything.
Our favorite part of our stay had to be enjoying the lovely patio at the front of the house each morning and evening-- it was a great place to start and end each day! -

I was looking forward to the house because it looked great in the photos. When I arrived, I was happy to say everything was even better in real life! The house was great, the location was great, the hot tub, beach toys, beach chairs, even the hair and skin care products provided for us in the bathrooms were top notch. I would highly recommend booking a stay in this lovely beach home. I look forward to a return visit!

We came with another couple for a few days of rest and relaxation after our marathon and we were thrilled with what we found. An amazing kitchen to cook yummy foods, awesome hot tub, comfortable atmosphere, very clean and well kept, and it felt like everything had an 'upgrade' - for example, there where 3 shower heads in our bathroom, oh my!! Location was absolutely ideal for us, as we brought our pups and a dog friendly beach was directly across the road. We honestly couldn't have been happier with everything we found and would recommend this house without hesitation!

My friend and I stayed here for our twice yearly mom's get away. We have been doing this trip for 10 years and this place is by far the best ever!! The house is not only beautiful but has everything you could possibly need.What a comfortable yet Luxurious stay we had.Great for families with kids too,being that the beach is only a 1 minute walk from the front door.this house is our new get away for sure.

Wow! Is just about all we can say about this vacation rental. This house far exceeded our expectations and was actually better than what you see in the photo's. Every detail was thought out in this home. It is not a large home but it didn't feel small. It was extremely comfortable for a family of 4 and if you needed you could add a couple more and still feel great. It is also very close to the beach which was a huge plus for us and our dog. To wrap it all up - it is a perfect luxury home that we will be coming back to for many years to come. Shannon the owner was wonderful to work with.

I loved this rental so much that I returned in January 2012 after having stayed there for a week one year ago. Pictures of the site, as enticing as they are, don't even do it justice. Just one block from the ocean (bay?) on the east side of Santa Cruz, it combines all the great things one wants from a beach house with the kind of luxury one expects from a high-end hotel. The whole place is designed for comfort, but elegant comfort. (The house looks like something out of "Architectural Digest.") For example, the kitchen, with its Wolf stove and appliances, is ready for serious cooking (or not - we ate out, but only because it was our vacation). The bathrooms are beautiful: all stone, glass, and wood, one with a giant shower and the other with a built-in jacuzzi. I could have stayed in the bathrooms and been happy. For those who want their media, there are flat-screen TVs in every room, the one in the living room big and easy to operate. My family was able to dock the iPod, use the Wifi for our three laptops, and do pretty much everything we wanted or needed. We didn't make use of the outdoor kitchen, but it's certainly available, as is the hot tub, private and always hot, outside the master bedroom door. I really appreciated everything the owners did to create such a lovely space: plenty of down pillows, a down blanket in the master bedroom, great sheets, towels galore, free phone (which helps make up for spotty cell reception - hey, it's paradise), Aveda and avalon products, filtered sink water, and so on. The house is located near enough to the 41st avenue Verve cafe (great coffee!) for early-morning beach walks, but far enough from the bustle of those serious Santa Cruz surfers to be peaceful. I recommend this place without any reservations - so long as you don't compete for what I hope will be our annual week in early January!
