Description from the owner
Sunny Cove Retreat was built in 1957 for the sister of Lloyd Bridges (the actor) & has had only a few owners since then. I've been upgrading older appliances, while trying to keep the 'look' of the American 1950s. This is an OCEANFRONT, BEACHFRONT house. The house is located across the street from the beach, w/a spectacular view of the water, crashing waves, & beautiful Sunny Cove Beach. The house is large. It's set up as a great space for lots of people to enjoy together - including bunk beds in the play room. The house has plenty of indoor entertainment, including a TV, DVD, spare laptop w/wireless Internet access, plenty of beach equipment...Read more

Los Gatos, CAWonderful weekend retreat with friends!
Left on 05/21/2013 for a stay in May 2013
We had such a good time at Sunny Cove. The view is fantastic and the house is comfortable. The pool table and the hot tub added to our enjoyment and we enjoyed the neighborhood, too. Sunday morning we visited the Farmer's Market within walking distance of the house. Most of all we enjoyed the ocean and the beach and the time with friends. We hope to do it again soon.

Sunny Cove was an amazing rental experience. House if fully equipped with everything you need and more to enjoy your time and feel right at home. Bbq, hot tub, fireplace, outdoor fire pit, pool table, spacious kitchen, plenty of sleeping options for guests are just a few of the great features of this house!!! Location and proximity to the beach is fantastic and you can see the ocean from the house and yard. What a view! Close by to surf areas and a quick drive to the main SC town area. It was a pleasure to work with Joyce, she was extremely quick to respond to any questions I had and I couldn't have asked for more from a vacation rental. I would go back to Sunny Cove in a heartbeat.

Oakland, CAThe perfect house for a crowd!
Left on 02/04/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Sunny Cove Retreat was perfect for our purposes. We are a student group that used the house for our annual retreat. Sunny Cove had beds for everyone in big, bright rooms, and a great common area in which we held our meetings. We loved the outdoor seating area on the side of the house. The house is cheery, well-maintained, and stylish, and the location can't be beat.
Many thanks! -

San FranciscoGreat Place

We had a great stay at Sunny Cove. The location is great - exactly as described with easy access to the beach. We spent a lot of time just hanging out on the front lawn looking out on the ocean - beautiful! The house itself was comfortable and in good shape. You could tell that the owners paid attention to making sure the little things were right for our rental -- there were ping-pong paddles, the right kitchen equipment, etc. They also left good detailed instructions so you knew where to find things and how to work them. They were a pleasure to work with. We had a great stay and will certainly be back.

Great and super friendly owners. The home is fantastic! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great time with family or friends. The beautiful view and the sounds of the ocean are so peaceful. Beautiful beach area below is great to get your feet wet or your toes in the sand. The rooms are large, plenty of sleeping space and you'll have all you need. Clean and bright. I like the hot tub and the outdoor movie theater the best.

San DiegoPerfect weekend away
Left on 10/09/2012 for a stay in October 2012
I just got back from a weekend at Sunny Cove. It was the perfect house, with a wonderful ocean view and easy access to the beach. The house had everything we needed from a spa to a pool table. House had a lot of character and charm.
I received wonderful service throughout the process and would highly recommend this house for a large family or group. -

Los Gatos, CaliforniaGreat family reunion location
Left on 08/27/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My family and I enjoyed four days at Sunny Cove Retreat and it was "home base" for a family reunion gathering. For many reasons, I would recommend it and would be very happy to return.
Here are a few very unique things about Sunny Cove Retreat:
(1) It is a single story house. Most beach houses are 2 stories with the living areas upstairs - understandable since they want to enjoy the view. But for people with mobility issues, that's no good. At SCR it's just a couple of steps into the home.
(2) The dining table can sit 16! This is a pool table with a special cover, so we used the pool table for a few hours and then converted it to a massive dining table, which was in use the rest of our stay. We found no other place anywhere in Santa Cruz with this kind of table situation.
(3) Parking for several cars: the long driveway can accommodate quite a few vehicles, a huge plus in an areas where it's too easy to get parking tickets!
(4) Location is ideal - directly across the street from the beach.
(5) The owner and manager are highly accessible. When we had questions or issues, they were extremely responsive by phone, text and email. I would be happy to rent anything from them because I know that they are concerned about their guests happiness.
Staying at Sunny Cove Retreat s like staying at a family member's home. It is a little funky in places, some of the decor is a little odd and the lighting in the bathrooms extremely dim. But overall, on a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 9.5. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

San FranciscoInstant relaxation in a home you'll want to stick around in
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This place sounds good on paper, right? And reality never lives up to the hype?
Wrong.
Simply put, this place is magical. It's like a secret fort and a comfy cabin rolled into one. The beach is just across the street (no, really). It's barely even worth taking a cooler with you because you can run back up to the house for anything you've forgotten. The hot tub is of course fantastic, as well - a perfect way to relax after a day full of relaxing. A big group of my friends went together and everyone had plenty of space, no conflicts with showering and bathrooms, and everything we could think of to want.
"hey, you think this place has a cocktail shaker?"
"try three. which one do you like best?"
etc. etc. etc.
Even though we were only there for a couple days, it felt like I'd been on vacation for a week by the time I got back. I'll definitely be going back to Sunny Cove again as soon as I can!
