      delightful

Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in December 2012

We stayed in this property for a week during Christmas break and enjoyed our time there very much. The service was superb. Our arrival night we discovered that there was no hot water; Marilyn immediately dispatched a plumber to the house. He was extremely nice and efficient and fixed the issue in no time (it turned out, the pilot light had gone out in the heater due to recent winds). The property is very nicely appointed and very clean. It's location is excellent too, just a couple of blocks from the heart of the town (the Plaza), an easy and enjoyable walk. It has a pretty (and large) patio at the upstairs entry, even when it was all covered with snow!
The location of the garage was a bit inconvenient so we ended up parking on the street. The view (rooftops) toward the Jemez Mountains is nice but limited (still, charming though). The electric range could be a challenge if you are used to cooking with gas.

      Delightful

Left on 05/03/2011 for a stay in April 2011

Altos de Magdelena could not be more charming or comfortable. From the wood-burning kiva fireplace (fully stocked with seasoned wood) to the three private outdoor dining areas, it is a delight. In late april we experienced both snowfalls and warm sunny days, so we enjoyed both the fireplace and the patios. The upper level houses the living, dining & kitchen areas along with a bedroom, bath and balcony, and the views from the numerous windows make you feel like you're in a treehouse -- perfect for watching the snow fall while the fire crackles. The furnishings and art are decidedly Santa Fe without being too precious. The very private and oversized bedroom/bath on the garage level (complete with its own private patio) are connected via a massive wooden circular staircase to the living areas. The townhouse is very generously stocked with pots & pans, dinnerware, pillows, linens, and thick towels. There was even an iron and ironing board in addition to a washer/dryer combo. My only complaint (and it is a minor one) is that the lighting in the bedrooms could be brighter. The very private and quiet location is within walking distance to the Plaza downtown where restaurants and shopping venues are plentiful and varied. For those who haven't already experienced Santa Fe, there really is nothing like it. For the art lover there are numerous exciting galleries on the Plaza & Canyon Road; for the shopper there are loads of unique boutiques and consignment shops; and for the adventurer there are outdoor activities and Indian pueblos within easy driving distance. I have visited Santa Fe for over ten years, and I always leave wishing I had more time to enjoy all that Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico have to offer.
