Villa Renata is a welcoming apartment that covers the entire top floor of a villa located on a hillside, facing the sea. It sleeps five people. From Villa Renata you will have a splendid view of the vegetation and of the sea. Villa Renata is 80 square meters (860 square feet). It features a wide private terrace with a view of the sea and a private garden.
You will be roughly 1 km (0.6 miles) from the center of Santa Maria di Castellabate , roughly 500 meters (550 yards) from the shops and the stop for the local bus. You will find the closest restaurant at 400 meters (440 yards) and the closest beach at roughly 1 km (0.6 miles). You will... reach Villa Renata from the garden without having to climb any steps.
To stay at Villa Renata you will need a car. You will be able to park it inside the entrance gate.
Villa Renata is built on the slope of a hill covered by pine trees. It is the top level of an ancient country house, and it is surrounded by a plot of land where citrus trees and olive trees are grown. The sloping terrain has made it possible to build a private entrance to the villa, with an entrance gate that is totally independent of the rest of the building. As a matter of fact, the rest of the building, which has been built by the owners for their own vacations, can't bee seen from Villa Renata as it is located under the large terrace. Standing on the terrace or in the garden of Villa Renata you will not be able to see other houses around you, except for those far away, scattered here and there in the fields and in the olive groves, or clustered close to the sea.
From the main gate you will enter a small fenced rustic garden, where there is the parking space.
In the garden you will find oleanders with pink flowers, a large fig and a few century-old olive trees. In the shade of the trees there is a table with chairs, as well as a long brickwork bench on which you will be able to seat and enjoy the wide view of the vegetation and of the sea.
The interior of the house is airy and luminous. All the rooms have a view of the sea. From the terrace you will enjoy a 360-degree view, that goes from the hill covered by the typical loca pine trees, behind the house, to the valley below and all the way to the sea.
The view of the sea embraces the whole small bay of Santa Maria di Castellabate , from the cliff of Punta Licosa , with its lighthouse, to the south, to the cape of Punta Tresino, to the north. This tract of the Mediterranean sea, famous for the beauty of its bottom and rich in archaeological findings of the Greek and Roman ages, is a protected sea park and it is a real paradise for divers.
On clear days your sight can reach the entire Gulf of Salerno , with the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri on the background. From this place you will also enjoy spectacular sunsets over the sea and the view, at night, of the lights of the Gulf.
Staying at Villa Renata you will enjoy the sun, the sea, the green of the pine trees, the quiet of a small, charming, tourist center, the good local cuisine based on the genuine produce of the Cilento National Park , such as mozzarella cheese, olive oil and wine.
Villa Renata is an excellent starting point to visit the Cilento National Park and the archaeological excavations of Paestum and Velia , the excavation of Pompeii and Herculaneum , the Amalfi Coast and Capri .
The terrace is 70 square meters (750 square feet) large. It is partly shaded by a retractable awning. It is equipped with a table, chairs, a sun umbrella and a deck chair. From the terrace you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the sea and of the hills.
The garden is 50 square meters (540 square feet) large. It is partly shaded by perfumed oleander trees and by fig trees. You will be able to reach it from the main entrance hall. It is equipped with a table, chairs, a sun umbrella and an external shower. From the garden you will enjoy a gorgeous view of the sea and of Santa Maria di Castellabate.
The living room is paved with characteristic tiles. The furnishings are cozy and comfortable. The furnishings include a sofa , two armchairs and a desk. In this room you will find a small television. From the living room you will be able to enter the terrace with a view of the sea through a French door.
The kitchen is well equipped, with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with freezer and an Italian-style coffee-maker. There is an age-old fireplace made of bricks. There is a table to seat four guests. The kitchen has a window with a view of the vegetation and of the sea at a distance.
You will be able to enter the first bedroom from the corridor. It has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). From the bedroom you will be able to enter the terrace with a view of the sea through a French door. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, equipped with a washbasin and a toilet.
You will be able to enter the second bedroom from the corridor. It has a twin bed (80 cm/32 inches) and two twin beds (80 cm/32 inches), that can be pushed together into a matrimonial bed if requested. From the bedroom you will be able to enter the terrace with a view of the sea through a French door.
The bathroom is equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a fully enclosed shower. You will be able to enter the bathroom from the corridor.
You will be able to reach the laundry room from the terrace. Here you will find a washing machine at your disposal.

Villa Renata is a graceful independent house of 80 square meters (860 square feet), which sleeps five persons. It has a terrace of 70 square meters, with a wide view of the valley and of the sea, and it also has a small fenced garden, with a view of the sea as well. It is at approximately 1 km (half a mile) from the sea and from the beach. It has a parking space.
There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with three single beds, a living room with television, a kitchen with fireplace and dining table. The kitchen is equipped with four-burner cooker, oven, refrigerator with freezer. There are two bathrooms: one has the shower and the second one has no shower. The bathroom without shower is connected to the bedroom with a double bed. In the garden you will find an external shower and a laundry corner.
You will be able to enter to large terrace both from the bedrooms and from the living room. The terrace is equipped with garden furniture and partly shaded by a canvas. On the terrace of Villa Renata you will enjoy the wide view and the sun in total privacy, as there are no other overlooking houses.
You will be able to park your car in the space behind the house, which is closed by a gate.
The house is 400 meters (450 yards) from the closest shops, and approximately 1 km from the pedestrian precinct of Santa Maria di Castellabate and from the beach.
The bus stop is at 500 meters (550 yards), along an uphill road. The closest train station is Agropoli, at 14 km (9 miles).
We had a very quiet week in this villa. The hosts who live below were very helpful, they spoke no English us no Italian but we managed to make each other understand. The facilities would be tight for 5 but 4 would have no issues. The kitchen is basic but had everything we needed. Access is via a narrow steep road so ensure you have a car with you. I had hired a Fiat Punto, anything bigger would have been a challenge getting into / out of the gates.
The service was really excellent, SummerinItaly were available to speak to on the day we arrived as I had somewhat misplaced my printed directions. That was really helpful. Thanks you Valentina.
When we arrived, we were welcomed by Angela, the owner of the property, and although we had a language barrier, it was clear were very welcome. She even had cold water and fresh prunes in the fridge for us. That helped! Thanks Angela.
We liked Villa Renata, it is clean, fresh, secure. The fact that the owners leave on the property is a boost as no minor problem missed their eye even though they stayed out of sight for our comfort.The owners however may need to either have a contract for taxi services or run the service themselves for their guests, if necessary, at an additional cost. Although the amenities are not terribly far, it can be a difficult walk in very hot Italian summer weather. Also, there is only one couch in the living room for a 5-person accommodation. There is a need to increase the seating there.
LIKED BEST: Peace, quiet, security, a beautiful villa overall, and friendly hosts
LIKED LEAST: We could not sit together in the living room as there is only 1 two-person couch; The lack of a taxi service dedicated for Villa Renata by the owners as it is nearly a 1kilometer from the main road.
April 1, 2006 - We stayed at Villa Renata at the end of March 2006. The weather was perfect and Villa Renata was even better than that.
Besides the breathtaking view, we had great fun interacting with the very generous and lively owners, Angela and Franco. We felt more like part of the family than strangers renting a house.
Villa Renata was better than we imagined and Santa Maria di Castellabate is a great location.
