Additional Location Information

Santa Pola is situated about 15 minutes drive south-west of Alicante Airport on the Costa Blanca. It's a very Spanish resort, with most of the visitors being from Madrid, and a small number from Britain, France and elsewhere. Santa Pola is a working fishing port, making the seafood a speciality in local restaurants.

The town is centred on the Castle and Square (Glorieta) where the children play in early evening. There are a wide range of shops, bars, and restaurants on the square and the seafront.

There are a choice of Blue Flag beaches, with the nearest being Playa Varadero just 200m from the house. Towards the west are the town beaches of Playa Santiago Bernabeu and Playa Levante. Beyond the port, Gran Playa stretches many miles, and is a popular destination for windsurfing and kite surfing. To the east are the more secluded coves of Santa Pola del Este. Further east, beyond the end of the town is the protected nature reserve of Carabassi, situated below the lighthouse on the Cabo De Santa Pola.

The walk into town takes a leisurely 15 minutes along the promenade (with plenty of seafront bars to stop off at on the way). Alternatively, the local bus stops on the seafront near the house, and costs one Euro to ride into town.

The El Ancla beach bar on Playa Varadero is owned by a fishing family who work the local port – hence the seafood is spectacular. For more formal dining, Restaurante Varadero (about 100m from the house) is one of the top restaurants in town, with great views out to sea, and is a popular destination for posh wedding receptions. Also within a 5 minute walk are Carlottis restaurant, bar and shop. There is a large supermarket on the same street as the house, about half a mile away, towards the town.

A Fantastic Holiday in a Fantastic Place

Left on 09/26/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We have stayed in this house many times and can't rate it highly enough. Immaculately presented and ideally located just a 3 minute walk to the beach. There is a supermarket nearby (2 mins in the car) which stocks everything you'll need for your stay.

Everything about the house is perfect and it is a credit to the owners.

Santa Pola itself is beautiful with clean, safe beaches and an unspoiled local community.

    santa pola magical experience

Left on 09/23/2010 for a stay in September 2010

Great place to stay. The house was excellent and could find no fault. Just wished we had booked two weeks instead of one. Great location very near to a lovely safe beach. Loads of places to eat out. We found the Spanish people very friendly and helpful as we did not speak much Spanish.
Can not recommend house and holiday highly enough.

    Excellent

Left on 08/09/2010 for a stay in August 2010

Superb villa very close to good clean beaches, with large shared pool. Villa is very well equipped, and comfortable. Local town is a short bus ride of an evening, or a 15 minute walk along the sea front. Large range of restaurants and bars in town would suit most taste.
Little English is spoken in some restaurants, but all offer a warm and freindly welcome.

    Fantastic property, fantastic area.

Left on 07/26/2010 for a stay in July 2010

Property was ideal for our needs, and idealy located very close to beach and just close enough to town to walk but far enough away to avoid noise and congestion. We had a fantastic time and will go again.

    Santa Pole Escape

Left on 05/20/2010 for a stay in June 2009

Arrived following short drive from alicante airport, to find the house clean and comfortable.
This large home offered every facility expected. Although in a quiet location a stones throw from beautiful beaches, the location was a short walk to all the life and colour offered by the sea front restaurants and shops of Santa Pola.
A truly Spanish town offering a genuine experience of the local traditions and cuisine. If you like sea food, you will have a new restaurant available every night of your stay, or why not enjoy a simple tapas.
A trip into Alicante is a must enjoy this very cosmopolitan city, shopping, eating or just sightseeing is all on offer.
In summing up we had a great escape from the normal anglophile spanish experience.

    Perfect!

Left on 05/15/2010 for a stay in May 2009

I had a wonderful holiday there and would describe it as follows:
It's a roomy house, tastefully decorated, just seconds from the beach. The well equipped kitchen enables you to eat in if you're on a budget - you can dine in the walled garden or enjoy a barbeque up on the roof terrace with it's super sea views. It's a clean and classy development with a charming, child-friendly pool. It's well served by local bars and restaurants. 20 minutes walk to the town centre (with a bus service for those who don't fancy the stroll).

Comfortable and roomy house, with nice pool. 200m to the sea and local beach bars. Quiet, clean beaches. Short walk into the town along the prom, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Hope to go back with more friends next year.

A fabulous Place to Kick Back and Relax

Left on 05/11/2010 for a stay in September 2009

The position and excellent standard of Punta Varadero
are a credit to its owners. We have stayed there many
times and never had an experience that was less than
    perfect.
Friendly neighbours, easy access to the airport and a
friendly taxi service when the walk to Santa Pola is
just too much after a day on the beach!

A spacious house with great sea views.

Left on 05/11/2010 for a stay in November 2008

A spacious 4 bed house decorated to a high quality. The top balcony has sea
views and is a sun trap. It's good for families because it's got a communal pool
and the sea is a 5 min walk, and good for couples because Santa Pola is within
walking distance with good tapas bars.
