We have traveled all over the world and these have got to be the most beautiful, powder-white, peaceful beaches we have ever been to - the Caymans being a close second - but Blue Mountain Beach, Florida just seemed to be so serene and peaceful. The turquoise and blue water was just incredible and I couldn’t get over the feel of the soft white sand. There were a few families with young kids and some other couples who dotted the beach but no crowds of spring break partiers even though that was the time of year we went. We needed what I term a “healing holiday” to unwind in a natural setting and reconnect with nature and each other and that is exactly what we found there.
We stayed in #13 Blue Mountain Beach Villas (found it on VRBO.com). It was a nicely appointed one bedroom condo with a full kitchen and living room. The bed was very comfortable. I wish we had the same pillows on our bed at home. There was a pull out sofa in the living room but we did not use it. It had a good size bathroom with a large shower but no bath, which was fine since we wouldn’t have used it anyway. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and then some. We are used to getting the basics but it was nice to have higher quality cookware, appliances and gadgets galore. There was a washer and dryer, but bring your own detergent and dryer sheets. There was a flat screen tv in the bedroom and another tv in the living room with dvd players which we did use some but most of the time we had the back opened up to the ocean so we could hear the waves coming in and feel the fresh air. The condo sits on top of a giant sand dune so you walk out the back to a grass yard that falls away to sea oats and sand. There are stairs that lead down to the wide expanse of beach. The sunsets we viewed from the beach and the back porch were just incredible.
