Description from the manager
It is easy to see why they call it Splash House, because if you were any closer to the water you’d be wet! Reminiscent of Old Florida, this two-story beachfront bungalow has screened porches and a beach-level deck surrounded by natural vegetation that will allow the sea oats to tickle your nose. Your private beach access has a sitting and sunning area, all leading to your semi-private beach. The long, galley kitchen has an equally-long eat-up bar, and the master bedroom has its own screened porch. The Splash House gives new meaning to a day at the beach!

This is a very relaxing home. We really had no interest in leaving. You can sun on the deck while looking at the ocean. The home is on the beach. Very comfortable. Not luxurious, but very relaxing

We loved Splash house. We had four other people visit and everyone was comfortable with their own bedroom and bath. Large kitchen made entertaining easy. Newman-Dailey went all out to make everything right that needed fixing. There is also a hiking trail over a lake on the other side of the street which made it fun also. Stinky's an excellent sea food place only blocks away.
Furnishings a little old but compfy. Construction going on on a house behind us.

This is the second year that we have rented the Splash House through Newman-Dailey Resorts, and I know we will be back every year to stay here. The service we get from the employees is beyond compare. We were able to get into the house a little earlier than expected, and they even called us to let us know it was ready for us.
The home is very wonderful, right on the beach is the best part!! The new remodeling they have done was great. We loved the new open deck off the main floor, enjoyed sitting out there every morning and evening. I would recommend maybe a new stove,(door to oven doesnt shut tight and the burners are a little uneven) and a refrigerator, the one there is fine but doesn't get truly cold.
Nice comfy beds and plenty of space. Like I said at the beginning, we will return every year, the house and beach and view is the best vacation spot!!!

The Splash House was everything it said it would be. From the moment we drove up to the house & saw the waves just a few yards away from the back door, we knew this place was goong to be a regular family vacation spot. The house had lots of room and was clean & well maintained. All the appliances worked well & we never had reason to complain. The Newman-Daily staff were extremely helpful from the time we called to make our reservation, stopped in to pick up out key, & called to say our wonderful week stay in Florida had come to a close.

Our 2nd stay at the splash house. Prior was april 2009. The new deck
was definitely a plus, we spent hours on the deck! Service was great!
We had a problem with the dryer and the staff had a repair person out that same morning. We enjoyed being able to leave the doors to the master bedroom open to the outside and fell asleep listening to the waves each night. Ocean/beach view was fantastic! The only negative was we love to look for shells and the beach had very little to offer this trip. -

Over-all a very nice experince and we felt fortunate to find this property due to our "last minute planning approach". The Splash House is an ideal location when you want to find yourself "right on the beach". It is a comfortable beach house and we could see that it was probably a "great place" 20 years ago. It requires external investment and renovation. Interior is adequate enough and really not bad for a rental. Everything worked and though not "luxury" there were no complaints by anyone in our party. We brought our 2 dogs and though they loved the experince, but we found it challenging finding a location for them to "do thier business". We would book this property again, but would work harder at negotiating better.

We had several problems when we first arrived, like no heat. Newman Dailey was very prompt with correcting the problems. Enjoyed the house and our stay though it was cold, windy, and rainy, but better than at home with snow and temp in the teens.

I was nervous when I first made the reservation because I only viewed on internet. It was great. The house was very clean, which is a biggie for me. It was also located close enough to town for those last minute runs to the grocery store, but far out enough to be private and quiet. It was a perfect Christmas and my family and I would be happy to stay there again.

The Splash House is the perfect affordable vacation getaway. House is located right on the beach, and offers fantastic view of the gulf. this was our fourth year of returning to this same vacation home, and we can't imagine staying anywhere else. the house is spotless and provides everything necessary for meal prep and relaxing recreation. can't imagine staying anywhere else.

We had a wonderful stay. The house is in a wonderful location. The house is not fancy, but comfortable. There are some maintenance problems with the house, things that could be fixed easily, and some that look harder to fix.The upper balcony looks broken on one end, but seems solid and safe. The kitchen is well stocked, and there are plenty of towels. We had one problem, with my hair dryer flipping the breaker box. We had to have help, because the box was behind a locked door. A very polite man came right over and worked to fix the problem. Over all we loved the place and we absolutly loved staying that close to the ocean. We will return and will stay at spash house again next year.

Our family had a great time @ the Splash House. The home was clean and the problems that we did have (refrigerator and hot water in bath on the fritz) were fixed in short order. The home is a bit of a drive away from Destin Proper (about 12 miles), but this didn't bother us as we wanted to be @ the beach anyway.

Left on 08/05/2009 for a stay in August 2009
the place is pretty much as advertised. Right on the beach. The place is clean--no mold problem as placed in an earlier review. Although I think it got remodeled. Plenty of space. Cons---there are staples/tacks for the carpet that cut some peoples bare feet a couple of times. The refigerator had some issues at the end of the vacation-it got very warm and was functioning poorly--that may be related to the amount of opening/closing with ten people there. It is very hard to find the turn in at night---it needs a bigger sign. Overall I would stay there again.

We stayed at the Splash House over Thanksgiving this year and had a great time. There was plenty of room for our two kids, ourselves and two sets of grandparents. The view was wonderful, the beach was clean and our kids had plenty of room to play on the beach as we watched from the porches.
The house was in good shape - rustic for sure but just fine. The bathroom fixtures have been replaced recetly and were in good working order.
This was the first time we have done something like this and we had a great experience. We would do it again. -

We loved our vacation at the Splash House. Our kids would run right out the door and onto the beach and in the ocean. The only thing wrong was that we could not use the porch, the screens were all broken so the bugs were a problem. Other than that, the amenities and our vacation were wonderful!

Kansas City, KSFun week!
Left on 09/25/2008 for a stay in July 2008
We had a lovely week at the beach. You can't get closer than sand at your back door! The house was clean and well stocked with towels and cooking utensils. We had an easy walk to the convenience store when ever we wanted and another block gets you to some fun shopping. If the deck had been larger we would have loved to sit there in the evenings and all talk, but it is too small for a group. We rented chairs and umbrellas, since the house only had a couple of small ones to use. All in all a great week.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Splash House. You can't beat living on the beach for a week. We loved sitting on the top porch in the evenings, enjoying the sunsets, and listening to the sounds of the ocean. It's great not to have overly crowded beaches. They say "rustic" is what makes the Splash House special, and I agree. It's the perfect place for the family to stay and have a memorable trip. Yes, we saw dolphins and were swimming about 50-100 yards away from them one day. They are truly majestic creatures. Try it out and you will not regret it.
