atlanta, gaLovely, quiet, perfect for a romantic weekend
Left on 10/12/2010 for a stay in October 2010
My husband and I rented this house for a long weekend, and we were completely happy that we did. Location was great for what we were looking for - a quiet place with the beach nearby, bike/walking trails through the State park and proximity to restaurants. The house itself was far too big for just the two of us, but we were looking for a well-stocked kitchen (we cooked in for two of the four nights we stayed) and we were not at all disappointed. For a rental, the kitchen was very nice. The place was clean, well kept and nicely decorated. Great porch. Dealing with the property managers was no trouble.
Wonderful stay, would recommend it. Try Cafe Tango while you're there (2 miles away) for a nice evening out. -

Valdosta, GAGoing back to Blue Bell!!
Left on 05/28/2009 for a stay in May 2009
Our family had the most incredible stay at the Blue Bell Cottage. We are beyond pleased with this amazing home. It was beautifully decorated and we didn't need for anything -- the house came equipped with everything (including toys for our young kids)!!! The most unbelievable part is the price -- so affordable! We will definitely be back and would love to make this our yearly vacation home!

This is a nice comfortably furnished and decorated house with plenty of space for 4-6 adults and up to 4 children. The living area and main bedroom are especially attractive and we had a lovely time here.
The "Preserves Of Grayton" gated development seems quite new and there are a quite a few unsold lots so the area is not full of atmosphere. It is also a good 10min bike ride/ 5 mins car to the nearest shop or restaurant so you are not exactly in the thick of it.
The two shared pools are fairly small but well maintained. There are also tennis courts and table-tennis.
The private beach is across the main road over a long wooden walkway. When you finally arrive it is quite stunning and unspoilt.
Overall a comfortable very good value choice if you want somewhere quiet and close to Grayton Beach but probably not for you if you want to walk to restaurants/ bars or be where the action is. -

We just spent a fabulous week in Grayton Beach at Blue Bell Cottage. The house was amazing. Perfect for two families. Close to the beach, two pools, great space for kids to play. We had so much fun cooking great meals in the kitchen, reading on the porch and bike riding in the area. It was perfect and we plan on coming back!

We stayed at Blue Bell Cottage for 10 days and truly enjoyed it! The house actually was larger than we anticipated and the proximity to the beach and the bike path was fabulous.
The house was beautifully yet comfortably decorated and it really felt like a home not a rental.
I had never been to North Florida previously, so we thought that the location at Grayton Beach was incredible.
My only suggestion would be that it would have been nice to have a broom or swifter at the house to sweep up after meals etc. The floors are so beautiful that you hate to see them dirty.
We definitely plan to return again!

Great place to stay very clean and quiet. The furniture, beds and everything was 1st class. The house could sleep several people and still seem like their was plenty of room for everyone. I will be definitely staying there again in the future.

Beutiful home, was not happy with the walk to the beach. Felt we were not informed that you had to cross a large road and walk .25 mile. The pools were nice but always busy. House was nice, but living room needs updated especially fold out bed. Beds need to be repaired or replaced. Need to leave more trash bags, or inform guest that they are responsible for them. Little details like that are needed. Especially for first time renters.

Blue Bell is a beautiful home with charming decor and very comfortable! It is a wonderful place to stay just minutes from many of the beautiful South Walton Beaches. It has a great Master Suite with plenty of room and the additional room upstairs with the bunkbeds is adorable and comfortable too! We were very happy with this rental and will definitly be returning!

We used our 2008 economic incentive check to rent this beach house. We had 2 families with kids -- there were a total of 5 adults and 5 kids (all under 8).
We've never been to the Destin area before -- the beaches were really beautiful. We took a drive out to Destin & Panama City and I am really glad we chose to stay off 30-A. We preferred the quiet & relaxing (non-corporate) environment near Grayton Beach.
We looked at a bunch of different rental houses; one of the things that really attracted us to this house was the kid bunks. It's really an ingenious setup if you have 3+ kids. We had 2 boys (7) and 2 girls (5) in the bunks. They were all so wiped out each night that they actually went to sleep pretty easily. So it was great to have all the kids there together. Lots of storage for their stuff.
The other bedrooms were all very nice, well furnished. It wasn't really mentioned anywhere, but there was free long distance included in the rental, too. Used the wireless frequently (although the cable/phone/wireless went out one day and we had to call the management company to get it fixed). One thing the house was missing was an info book like you'd find in a hotel. Would be nice to have a book of information about the utilities, personalized restaurant or activity recommendations, etc.
The kitchen was really well stocked and very clean. The house as a whole was very clean (considering how sand gets everywhere). The dining room floor & table were showing their age and would probably need replaced soon, but no other problems.
The house backs up to a state nature reserve so we were visited by critters with frequency. There are porches all over the house, including screened in porches on both the 1st & 2nd level, that was great.
It was very hot when we were there (100 degrees F), so the walk to the beach wasn't fun. It would be a nice walk if the weather was a little cooler -- probably took about 15 minutes each way with kids & stuff in tow. We drove to the public access in Blue Mountain a couple of times instead of walking; we also used the state park at Grayton Beach twice. All the beaches were beautiful and not at all busy, even during peak season. We did happen to run into a week where there was a lot of algae/seaweed and then a lot of jellyfish so that may have kept some people out of the water -- the kids were very concerned about the jellies, but they all had a great time playing at the beach regardless.
The neighborhood was very nice -- but there are still homes under construction near by. This is certainly not Seaside -- not as many restaurants or shops nearby -- but it's also a fraction of the price. We drove to Seaside a couple of times and enjoyed walking around, but were happy with our Grayton Beach location. We made frequent trips to the Publix (about 7 minutes away) in Segrove Beach and did a lot of cooking at home and using the provided weber kettle. All the restaurants we visited were very good -- half of our party were vegans and no one had any problems finding great food. The local seafood is excellent, so plan on enjoying that.
We had a great time. We will definitely go back. We would definitely consider renting this exact property again because compared to others that we've seen, it's a good value. In the future may consider renting bikes to get around if we're in this same neighborhood. We would also consider Blue Mountain or Segrove Beach, but we loved our stay in Grayton Beach! -

I stayed with 8 other people at Blue Bell Cottage. The experience was excellent! Everything was easy, from booking to checking in and checking out. The house had exactly what we needed and was in a great location. I would recommend it to anyone staying in the area!
