Waco, TexasThis home has a new owner and is completely updated
Left on 01/15/2011 for a stay in December 2010
In response to "Tracy from Florida"...the home was in foreclosure when you visited and the owners neglected the house, squeezing every dollar of income from it. I bought it in august 2009 and have completely remodeled it. Camellia House has been restored to its former glory and no longer has "issues".

FloridaDon't rent this house!
Left on 05/15/2009 for a stay in May 2009
I was not happy with this house. I have been going to the area for almost 10 years and have never had any problems. The pool was "green" and the AC was frozen and leaking in the kitchen upon our arrival. They did fix the AC but we were not able to use the pool during our week vacation. Also, the house is not very clean: there was mold in the master shower, lots of lightbulbs burned out, rolled up carpet stored behind the couch, tub downstairs does not drain. The kitchen sink constantly stopped up.

roswell, ga.great pool, close to seaside village
Left on 01/08/2009 for a stay in December 2008
The Camilla home is well kept and clean. The pool was an added
convenience for the kids since the ocean is too cold during Dec. The
wireless internet did not work the entire time of our visit. Mediacom
was called but did not resolve the problem. This can be a problem
when you have on-line business to complete. Overall it is a nice
home, with a good location. If you are a light sleeper the noise from
the highway could be disruptive since the house is next to it. -

Nashville, TNGreat Views, Great Furniture - Great House!
Left on 10/21/2008 for a stay in October 2008
This house was great, full of wonderful Pottery Barn furnishings and Crate and Barrel dishes. Very comfortable. The beds were just O.K. however, nothing special here. The pool was wonderful, BUT the heater was broken and despite several calls it only got fixed for about 2 hours during our 4 day stay. Luckily, the weather was warm enough that we didn't need it, but I would be wary during the colder months. The three floors of porches were fabulous, and the deck furniture was great. The views of sunrise and sunset amazing. Being right on 30A you are definitely seeing lots of people and hearing the traffic, so be prepared for that, especially when you are in the pool which is RIGHT on 30A, in front of the house (we had imagined it in the back of the house). So it's great, but NOT private! Overall we really liked the house and would stay again.

Atlanta, GAComfortable & Very Close to Beach
Left on 10/02/2008 for a stay in October 2007
We had a very nice time at this house. The red tide and biting flies prevented us from spending much time at the beach so the pool was a lifesaver! We enjoyed the decks and found the house to be perfect for our small family vacation.

Naples, FloridaGreat Home across from beach
Left on 10/01/2008 for a stay in July 2007
Three story home with pool allows room to roam and privacy. Located across from very nice beaches and close to town of Seaside with restuarants and shopping. Very charming area . Definitely will return when the economy improves and I have $3500.00 to lease a house for a week again. Brand new Publix around the corner makes shopping a pleasure. Recommend the boiled shrimp.

We loved the house, and location. We loved having a private
pool. We wanted to stay again, but could bare sleeping on the
mattress in the master bedroom. Such a shame, because it is
truly a beautiful home. -

Tullahoma,TNRed Tide
Left on 09/25/2008 for a stay in August 2007
We had a great time--except for the "red tide" on the beach!! I have been to FL lots of times and had never heard of it!! Of course--this was not the houses fault!! The only thing I would change about the house is to get rid of the vines on the arbor by the pool--the leaves were dead and kept blowing into the pool which was a mess!! Also-- I didn't like the entrance (with code) being the back door which went through the bedroom-- I would have liked the entrance -with code to enter-- to be the front door--through the hall!! Everything else was first class!!!

Southern Rose Ranch
Chappell Hill, TXA Great Beach House
Left on 09/25/2008 for a stay in August 2008
The house is beautiful with many upgrades like wood floors,
travertine, beautiful bathrooms, fantastic master bedroom
and good views of the gulf. The beach access is right across
the street and it is a pretty access walk and the beach is not
crowded and very beautiful. The kitchen had good basic
utensils, dishes and cooking pans. The fridge is great. The
pool area is very nice but is right on the front of the house on
the street so it is not private. Please do not count on any
supplies that are left by previous renters-the cleaning staff
clears out everything so you have to bring EVERYTHING-
paper towels, trash bags, toilet tissue, laundry detergent for
dishes and washing machine, etc. You need to bring
anything you will use because none is left from previous
guests. The Wal-Mart in Destin is great to buy all this stuff-
it is huge, a very nice store and reasonable. There is also a
great fish market on the way to Destin-it is large, on the
right and you can't miss it. It is stand alone so it is not with
other stores.
Our only complaint about the beachhouse is how bad-really
uncomfortable the mattresses were in the house. To spend
this much money for a whole week and literally feel like a
Mack Truck hit you each morning after an agonizing night on
the mattresses was the only downer to the trip. The Master
Suite is fabulous but the mattress is a killer. We had sore
backs for two weeks afterwards.
This house was great for our family vacation. You can walk
to SeaSide in 5-8 minutes and enjoy it and WaterColor yet
you don't have to pay the high rental fees of these two areas.Response from Sandcastle Escapes & Beach Seekers - 09/25/2008

Unfortunately, the cleaning staff does have to remove any opened items left in the house (toilet tissue, paper towels, soap, spices, cooking supplies, etc...) to maintain a certain health code. We have passed the message along to the homeowner about the mattresses and there will be a plan to have them replaced! We value your input.

Twinsburg OHGreat Home.
Left on 09/25/2008 for a stay in July 2008
This was a great home and it was accurately represented on the web-site as well.
The only issue during my stay is that the phone and internet connection were not available the entire week. However, this was a problem with the phone company - not the rental agency. The agency placed several phone calls to the phone company concerning this problem. -

Dallas, TXBeach Paradise!
Left on 09/24/2008 for a stay in July 2008
This was the second year we have stayed at this wonderful property. The house was exactly as described on the VRBO website. Everything was wonderfully maintained and in good condition. The house is footsteps away from the beach and the pool on site was a huge treat for the children after a day on the sandy beach. We plan on coming back again and again!

Nashville,TNNoisy and strange
Left on 09/24/2008 for a stay in May 2008
Camellia House is indeed just a short and easy walk to the beach and is on a very nicely landscaped lot. However, it is right on 30-A so doesn't offer alot of serenity. Unfortunatey, that was the least of our issues with the house. Things were not in order when we arrived. We found the first floor to be sandy and, upon going to bed the first night, we were shocked to find disgustingly soiled sheets on the king bed. We quickly realized that the first floor had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. That can be attributed to poor housekeeping and we overcame our disgust after a day or two. Unfortunately, though, the layout of the house proved to be very problematic. The main entrance (the only door with key entry) is through a bedroom. Apparently, when the pool was added, the main access to the house had to be moved to the back (i.e. bedroom). This made it very inconvenient to take the dog out, when the bedroom was in use. And since this entrance/bedroom is from a sandy driveway, it was impossible not to track sand into the room. The entire bottom floor is tiled, probably for that reason, and needs to be updated desparately (including the bathroom). On what used to be the front door, there is now a screeching alarm (per Florida codes) since the door opens to the pool. The pool was quite nice but very noisy since it was right next to the street. The ocean views were pretty good. The second floor deck had a slight view of the ocean over the top of the houses across the street but the top deck had a good ocean view. But to access this view, you had to go through the master suite. The top floor of the home was occupied by the master suite and was quite nice, the nicest part of the home. But obviously not everyone can enjoy being in the master suite (although our entire party ended up sharing the master bathroom because it was more desirable than the lower bathroom). This house would be okay for a couple, or a family with non-toddler age kids, only if they could tolerate the modest amenities on the bottom floor, the inconvenient enty, the strange floorplan, the busy location, the noise of the traffic and the housekeeping issues.

CAF
Nashville, TNGreat house, bad management
Left on 09/24/2008 for a stay in May 2008
The house was very nice and was the perfect size for my family (6 adults and 3 children under 7yrs). The views were beautiful and the private pool was a nice extra that we all enjoyed. The only major "turn-off" is the home is actually located on a very busy street, with the pool facing the road thereby decreasing the privacy significantly (we assumed it was in the back-yard, not the front). The real problems that we had were actually related to the home's management company, as far as we can tell. In a house with 3 bathrooms (and meant to accommodate 11 people), they only supplied us with 3 rolls of toilet paper and 6 towels. The cleaning people do not come in until our stay is over, so we were told just to wash the towels as needed and make do with the toilet paper. No biggie, we bought t.p. and used the washer frequently. But the final big annoyance came when the landscapers showed up on Saturday (we were scheduled to check out the next day). They were replacing the pine needle bedding and trimming/cleaning out the planters in the yard- while we were attempting to enjoy the pool. My dogs were in the fenced yard with us, and despite several requests, the workers continued to leave the gates (to the busy street) open. Finally, I called the office and asked if the workers could return when we check out, and the woman rudely told me she would call them and then call me back and then let me know what we could do. She never called back, and the workers left over an hour later after filling the patio and pool with pine needles. We just felt a little "invaded" and it ruined our last full afternoon by the pool. If the Camellia house was under different management then I would recommend it to anyone!
