Durban, South AfricaPerfect spot for reflection and sightseeing
Left on 05/11/2013 for a stay in May 2013
I have just stayed for a week in this lovely studio with two colleagues. It is just one room but very spacious - one huge bed, one very comfy double couch-bed and a proper sleeping mattress should you need it. The studio is large and has everything you could need and is very tastefully decorated with a lovely collection of books to peruse. It also has a herb garden, genuinely free range eggs and a great spot to sit outside in the evenings and drink wine while contemplating the world. The accommodation feels rural and peaceful but is just a very short drive from all sorts of attractions - perfectly placed for trips to Sonoma, Napa, Calistoga, Bodega Bay, Santa Rosa and Saint Helena. The drive along the coastal road to Menodcino and then back inland among the redwoods on Mountain Drive has to be the most perfect road I've ever driven on. Bob and Lucy are friendly and helpful but were also great about letting us get on with our writing. We used this spot for a very productive writing retreat and I just wish I didn't live so very far away (on the other side of the planet) or I'd definitely be back very soon.

San FranciscoComfortable, easy retreat
Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in February 2013
This very large studio was airy, with comfortable seating and a nice kitchen. I didn't make much use of the amenities beyond the coffee maker though as I was quite busy during the time. I received a warm welcome, and when I left something behind in the room, Lucy met a friend of mine in the area to bring it to him.
Fyi the Wi-Fi was reliable. Cell service (T-Mobile) not so much. -

Austin, Texas, United StatesWonderful place to stay in the heart of the wine country
Left on 09/04/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My wife and I spent two wonderful weeks at the wine country cottage while we explored the wine country and San Francisco. We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of the cottage, including the mini farm and wonderful gardens as well as the hospitality of course! Lucy and Bob were on hand when we had questions, but always respected our privacy. They were very friendly and laid back and we enjoyed their vibe. The cottage is certainly well situated to explore the region. Very close to route 101, it's easy to get to all the good spots and is about an hours drive from San Francisco. We loved it and came home very relaxed. Highly recommended.

Edmonds, WashingtonExceeded our expectations.

The cottage is spacious, attractive and well-equipped. The owners were a delight and made us feel at home. It was a much more unique and personal experience than staying in a hotel. Loved the relaxing atmosphere ... and breakfast with the french doors open to a sunny morning! This was a great value and I hope we have the chance to stay there again!

Cupertino, CaliforniaBeautiful cottage, serene garden, koi pond & farm animals, great
Left on 07/30/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Great place for a stay and overall a reasonably good experience. Bob and Lucy have created a beautiful haven with a serene garden, a beautiful koi pond, great farm animals and friendly service. The room can comfortably sleep 2 adults and 2 young kids. The kitchen was small but plentifully stocked with essentials including eggs from the farm, butter, sugar and dishes to use. Lucy is very friendly with the kids and she was very nice to show the garden and get our kids introduced to the farm animals, koi fish, etc. A couple of caveats and caution... (1) Owners have a big dog that came charging at me and after that point we were worried to let our little kids out (2) The owner's home is a little too close even though the owners are friendly but it is like they are always there (I guess this is a matter of personal preference, but we would have preferred some more privacy) (3) Watch out for the koi pond if you have little kids - the owners mentioned this to us upfront but the pond is deep! (4) $50 cleaning fee is mentioned but was not obvious to us (I should have looked more closely) and since the cleaning fee is not optional my view is that they may as well include it in the advertised rate (since the cleaning fee tacks on about 30% more than the "advertised" room rate)

It was really amazing! Bob and Lucy were extremely sweet and the property was beautiful. They even have a nice selection of nice, but inexpensive wine, available for purchase in the cottage and a well-equipped kitchen.
If you stay here, you'll feel like you are visiting old friends, and do take Bob up on his offer to have a bonfire! It was amazing! -

CincinnatiFabulous space in an ideal location for touring wine country
Left on 04/20/2011 for a stay in April 2011
Bob and Lucy provided an amazing and ideal space for my boyfriend and I while touring wine country. There was a really nice kitchen with anything you might need (creamer for coffee, garlic, olive oil) and the second morning we were there Bob knocked and offered us more fresh eggs (including a green one!!!) :) While we were a little too beat from driving around all day to make it back and make dinner, Bob had an entire guest book ready with personal suggestions of nearby eateries and their menus. They had all of the amenities labeled so it completely took the guess work out of how to turn on the tv etc. Overall it was the best place that we stayed on our vacation and would have loved to spend more time here! Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you on our next trip to Santa Rosa!

Salt Lake City, UtahMuch more than just a cottage
Left on 04/14/2011 for a stay in December 2010
Yes, I would certainly recommend this cottage to friends and family. I stayed there several times with my 2 young children and it was always great. The cottage has everything you could need to stay comfortably. I cooked full meals in the kitchen and didn't miss a thing. There are plenty of comfortable sleeping options and the property is so peaceful that sleep comes easy there. There's plenty of space for a family to spread out and play or relax. We spent some rainy weekends inside at the cottage and never felt like the place wasn't big enough. It's very clean, decorated very nicely and as I mentioned above, very peaceful. It was great for our family but I think it would be even nicer for a getaway place for a couple. Bob and Lucy are as good of hosts as you could ever ask for. They treated me and my children like family. My kids talk about Bob and Lucy more than they talk about the adventures we had while we stayed there. I like having them on the property and they took care of anything we wanted or needed. They even let my daughter help feed the animals which was always her favorite part of the stay. I don't know what else to write except that the cottage and Bob and Lucy and the entire property are wonderful and I highly recommend them all.
