Casa Mareneve is a villa in two units which are joined together by a covered terrace and a beautiful pergola of grape vines that offer very pleasant shade in summer. The villa lies just outside the village of Santa Venerina, on the crossroads among Taormina, Catania, Mount Etna and the sea.

The first unit is a one-room apartment with a large window, fireplace, couch, sofa bed, double bed, bathroom (shower, toilet), dining table, kitchen and pizza oven. From the kitchen you have access to the terrace that is next to the other unit. This apartment consists of a large living room with a double sofa bed, kitchen, dining table, fireplace, ba...throom (bath, bidet, toilet), a double bedroom and a small single room. The pool (10 x 5 m, between 1 and 3 meters deep) is open from 5th May to the end of October and is for the exclusive use of the guests. The pool is located next to a terrace in Eolian style, which overlooks the sea and the beautiful garden with palm trees and Mediterranean flowers.

The presence of fireplaces and a wood stove make Casa Mareneve also suitable for a stay in low season.Read more

Additional Location Information

Casa Mareneve is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily. The villa lies almost halfway between Catania and Taormina and just seven kilometres from Acireale (a pretty little city, built on a plateau of lava, that is known for its Baroque churches). Gardini Naxos, a seaside resort with beautiful sandy beaches, is just 25 kilometres from Villa Mareneve. Beside it we find Taormina ‘the pearl of the Mediterranean’ and the most exclusive seaside resort in Sicily. Its ancient Greek theatre is world famous for its extraordinary panoramic views. Santa Maria la Scala and Aci Trezza are pleasant seaside villages near Villa Mareneve. In the village Santa Tecla, 9 kilometres from Villa Mareneve, is the renown, but quiet cheap, fish restaurant “Da Lorenzo”.

The 18 hole Golf course Il Picciolo is an easy drive (45 minutes), and several of the traditional lava-stone villages on the flanks of Etna are well worth a visit. Many guests at Villa Mareneve, however, will be well content to relax in the stunning surroundings of the house, the garden and the pool. The villages of Etna, such as Trecastagni, Zafferana Etnea e Randazzo, are famous for their ancient lava flows, the architecture of their seventeenth century churches, their delicious local produce and the hospitality of the villagers. Situated 700 metres above sea level, they are a favourite retreat of the city dwellers who, in summer are in search of cool, fresh air, while in winter are in search of snow for skiing. Few people are aware that Etna is a popular location for skiers in winter. On some glorious days in winter, it’s even possible to ski the frozen slopes in the morning enjoying a wonderful panoramic view of the Mediterranean, and then, the same afternoon, go and sunbathe on the beaches below!
