AucklandGreat Location
Left on 05/05/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Four of us stayed in the villa for five nights while we toured
the Maipo and Casablanca wine areas. The villa is very comfortable
and well set up for self catering. We had the occasional lunch out
and had dinner at the villa.Good local lunch places are La Calma de
Rita and the restaurant at Santa Rita vineyard Dona Paula. After
wine tasting it was very easy to go to the local supermarket (only
7 kms down the road) and pick up beers etc and sit on the deck back
at the Villa and reflect on the day.
Lovely spot and would highly recommend it.

St. Louis, MO, USAA few days in paradise - literally!
Left on 01/20/2013 for a stay in January 2013
My husband and I love to travel, and have decided seeing all the continents before starting a family sounded like a great idea. Why we chose Santiago, I am not sure, but it was a wonderful experience with a very satisfactory ending.
We began our trip in the city, and ended it in paradise at Casa Ishi. This villa was beyond any expectation, and we left with no regrets. Not only was there every fruit tree you could think of - limes, lemons, oranges, apricots, dates - but you can enjoy every one. My husband and I picked apricots, and made apricot preserves to enjoy each morning with toast. We picked fresh green onions from the garden to jazz up our homemade tomato soup. Did I mention the whole chicken we baked in the outdoor oven? This villa is a little slice of heaven in an adorable small town. And not to mention the vineyards just a short drive away. If you are thinking of visiting Santiago, take a couple of days in the city, and then venture to paradise for the remainder of the trip. You can always make day trips to the city, but in the evening enjoy the serene atmosphere on the terrace, listen to the river rush in the background while you watch the sun set in the mountains.
The owners of the property were visiting the same time as we were, and were a delight. They were very helpful in giving directions when we lost our way, and really know their way around the town. They have great tips on where to shop, where to eat, and even what to drink! We had the pleasure of joining them for dinner, taking full opportunity of the scenery, dining outdoors on a meal cooked in the outdoor oven. The caretakers of the property were also very helpful.
Overall, I would come back to Casa Ishi in a heartbeat and would recommend it to everyone I know. It might be a few years, but we hope to come back!

Santa CruzLovely Country Getaway But So Convenient For Santiago
Left on 05/03/2012 for a stay in October 2011
This was a really lovely place to stay. The location is excellent, just outside the small town of Pirque. You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, but at the same time, the property is less than 45 minutes to the centre of Santiago meaning you can combine both city and country life very easily.
Around Pirque itself there are several vineyards in the Maipo Valley, including Concha y Toro and Santa Rita, the latter boasting a great restaurant and interesting museum in beautiful grounds. There's a very nice parrillada (Chilean bbq) restaurant 5 minutes down the road (called La Vaca Echada) and you're a short drive from San Jose de Maipo up in the mountains. There are thermal baths up there but they're down a poorly maintained dirt road- it is beautiful and worth the trip, though.
The house itself is very comfortable and well maintained and the outside deck is fantastic for relaxing and just lounging around, reading a book. The garden of the property is full of fruit trees and giant palm trees. If you're lucky, the caretaker might be able to give you some fresh vegetables from the garden!
I would definitely recommend the property to anyone looking for a relaxing get away, especially if you don't want to be too far from Santiago.
