Resting at the southernmost part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Resort at Fairfield Sapphire Valley occupies 5,700 acres of natural beauty at an elevation of 3,100 feet. The resort has both an and outdoor pool, a park with picnic area, an 18-hole PGA golf course, and eight clay tennis courts. A health club with an indoor pool and exercise equipment adds to the list of on-site amenities. Hiking, fishing, horseback riding, putt putt golf, and canoeing are other popular activities. We stayed in Fairway Forest at Sapphire Valley. Stay in an "A Unit" if possible. It is one level with large rooms. Bedroom has a king bed with large dresser and closet. The bathroom can be accessed from the bedroom or great room. There is a balcony that looks out over the mountains. The complex offers trips to the Biltmore, the Blue Ridge Parkway and several towns in the area. They offer a pancake breakfast one morning and a BBQ one evening. The Sapphire National Golf Club is located on the property. There are beautiful waterfalls in the area so bring your hiking boots. Great Smoky Mountain National Park is only a few hours away.
