My two young children and I had a lovely stay in this quaint little cottage. Sylvia, Steve's mother was there when we arrived and helped us settle in, but Steve stopped by to say hello and make sure we were comfortable. The cottage is comprised of a small living room and bathroom, an upstairs bedroom, a private courtyard and a kitchen in a separate building. Having the kitchen across the courtyard may be a bit problematic for some, but it was very warm during our stay, so we just left everything open all the time. The courtyard was like an extension of the living room, so it didn't phase me much. In any case, I was aware of this when I booked so do not see it as a drawback. My main need is wifi - they provide a good, unlimited connection. The kitchen was fully equipped and had a washer - very practical traveling with two young children! They also provided a cot for my 1-year old. The location is ideal, a 10 minute drive from Sarlat (though beware of traffic - lots of tourists go there!) and some of the loveliest villages in the region. The Dordogne river is also a 10-minute drive away. We were able to go to the river's edge every day to cool off, wade in the water and play. The cottage is in a hamlet, so even though it was august and prime holiday season, everything was peaceful and quiet. It was just what we need - small, peaceful and practical. I would definitely return.

I have stayed for two weeks in June 2013. Everything was the way it had been described on the web-site. I could connect my laptop computer to the Internet, and I could use Skype all the time (24/7). The apartment is clean, spacious, quiet, and well designed. There are many TV channels in English. The bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet. There is a separate kitchen and everything worked as expected. Every week I received clean sheets (for the bed) and towels. Steve and Enasha (the property owners) were very kind to invite me to a wonderful home-made dinner. The location is really wonderful. Next time I come to Perigord I will try again this apartment again.

Short course: This is a great place for a couple who wants to avoid the summer crowds and yet be close enough to the unbelievable trove of natural, historical, gustatory and athletic sites and activities that mark this amazing region.
The owners couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. (Not the least because they speak English.) Negotiations were easy and the rental process was We came in from Japan and had to drive from Toulouse. The owners gave us directions that were clear and concise. This place is close enough to a main road that it was easy to find, and yet each evening as we sat on the patio enjoying the languid sunset we felt no sense of the summer crowding that you'll encounter in Sarlat. And yet we were easily able to slip into Sarlat and shop for food to bring back and cook in the kitchen. To enjoy during those endless sunsets.
The place is comfortable, clean, a beautiful setting. To say that it's simple sounds like faint praise. That's not a negative. It's not luxury accommodation. It's not meant to be. I felt at home and completely at ease as soon as I got here. My blood pressure subsided measurably. This is Slow Living at it's best. My only regret is that we didn't stay here longer.
What the best thing about this place? The location? Price? Comfort? Sorry, it's pretty much a tie.
Stop dawdling and book the place already. Before I do.

This was a lovely charming, cozy Gite in a great location. We were only minutes away from some wonderful sites in the Dordogne.
Our hosts were very sweet and helpful.
Please be aware the steps up to the bedroom are steep and narrow, but worth the effort.

After weeks spent travelling from australia both Paul and I were feeling somewhat exhausted. Driving on the wrong side of the road was taking its toll. So, when we arrived at Lestervinie for a week in a gite run by Steve and Enasha we were ready for somewhere just that little bit special. Our hopes were fulfilled when we were literally welcomed as our car pulled up with offers of cool drinks and the chance to play Grandma and Grandad to young Xavier (7 months old at the time). It happened to be our wedding anniversary that day so Enasha cooked us a very tasty Sri Lankan curry - we supplied a bottled of wine, and a lovely evening was had by all.
Our accommodation was very clean and comfortable, the availability of a washing machine to catch up on weeks of laundry was also a blessing.
Nearby Sarlat, beautiful countryside and numerous chateaux were spectacular and gave us many happy outings. The large supermarket on the outskirts of Sarlat was well stocked and we made the most of the local produce on sale there. For wildlife enthusiasts, abundant birdlife in the garden and rare orchids nearby were a bonus.
For us, the biggest asset at this gite was Steve and Enasha who could not have been more welcoming and friendly. They were able to supply us with lots of local information. Our farewell came too quickly and we left Lestevinie with promises to keep in touch, which we have done. Our stay had netted us two (plus baby) as friends and pleasant memories of our trip to Europe.

My friend and I really enjoyed our stay in Sarlat. Steve and Enasha were most helpful, providing great advice on what to see and do when we were there. The gite was cozy, and we enjoyed the private patio area, having breakfast in the sun and dinner under the stars. The kitchen was in a separate building (a former pig sty!), and was well equipped with stove, oven, fridge, washing machine, as well as cutlery, plates, etc. The gite itself had an upstairs loft and a pull-out sofa downstairs, which was comfortable. The gite is centrally located and a very convenient base for exploring the area and going to some amazing tourist sites in the area.. Castlenaud is about 15 - 20 minutes, as is Chateau des Milandes. The Grottes Padirac are about 1 hour's drive away. The centre of Sarlat was about 10 minutes drive from the gite, but it was nice to be out in the countryside, waking up to birds and not car traffic.
Steve and Enasha were very welcoming and helpful. The property exceeded my expectations. It was very quiet and private in a charmingly restored donkey barn and pigsty in a tiny hamlet. Yet still within 5 km of civilization.

Especially for those whose French is "rusty," Enasha & Steve's little gite is a fine choice. The hosts are very helpful with reservations and suggestions, without ever impinging on the privacy of the guests. The gite is perfectly located, just a short distance from the major sights of Perigord Noir, and features beautiful walks out of the private back gate.

We recently had 4 nights with Steve and Enasha at their beautiful cottage and had a wonderful stay. Sarlat is a vibrant and lively town and only a 10 minute drive from the cottage, the magnificent Dordogne region only a 20 minute drive. The cottage is wonderful, very comfortable and clean with everything required for a self catering stay. Steve and Enasha were very welcoming, friendly and gave us many tips as to places to visit and were always very keen to answer any questions we had regarding our booking. For couples who want to explore this region of France, we would highly recommend this cottage as a wonderful base. Greg and Narelle ( Australia )

We stayed two weeks in the Sarlat area to do painting and sightseeing. Steve and Enasha (property owners) maintain a comfortable and convenient gite which is only 5 minute drive to Sarlat. Castles, formal gardens, and easy hikes are within 5-10 minutes.
Steve and Enasha are on site which made getting information about the area very easy. We really enjoyed our stay there and will return for other stays.

Our four days staying at Stone cottage was very convenient a short distance from Salat and a base for seeing other attractions in our car.The kitchen, bathroom and toilet are downstairs and the bedroom is upstairs...the stairs are steep so I always hung on to the rail.
Because the weather was fine we ate at the table which was outside. The furniture may need to be reorganised if it rained and we had to eat inside.
The cooking facilities included a jug, coffee maker, one hot plate and microwave and a suitable fridge.Enasha's washing machine was available for washing a few things.
We found everything to be clean and welcoming. It has been newly renovated.
Steve and Enasha are lovely warm hosts and are able to speak english and french. Thanks for all your help with directions to towns.
Steve is currently building a swimming pool and has ideas for a room outside for the barbecue etc.
The cottage accomodates two people but would be a bit tight for anymore.Steve and Enasha are receptive to any suggestions.
Thanks Steve for racing down the hill on your bike to meet us on the main road when we couldn't find the road to your house...make a sign "Stone Cottage "

We wanted to stay somewhere that was peaceful and quiet, yet had beautiful views and was accessible to the nearby town (Sarlat)!
The gite is quite small and compact but has been well thought out and offers everything you might need (including an internet connection!). It has recently been finished and very is clean and tidy. Steve (Enasha was away) was very welcoming and friendly and happy to give advice on places to visit and eat. There is so much to do and see in the area that we were spoilt for choice.
We have been raving to our friends and family about it since we got home a few weeks ago and will definitely be booking again next year. A perfect place to get away from the rigor of England.

Stone Cottage is an ideal hideway if you are seeking relaxation and tranquility amidst the oustanding beauty of the Dordogne region.
The house itself is traditional in style, cosy and comfortable and the owners, Enasha and Steve will endeavour to fulfill any special requests you may have and ensure that your stay at their gite is one that you would definitely want to repeat.
Memories of the local wine and gastronomic delights enjoyed on the terrace as the sun went down will remain with me until my next visit.
I highly recommend Stone Cottage to singles, couples and families for the rural French experience.
