Oh my God. We thought we'd all died and gone to heaven. A stunningly beautiful town, overlooked by a grand Chateau, a big, comfortable and beautiful home with a pool and a view to die for. I was dragged out of L'ancienne Poste with my fingers clawing into the floorboards - I didn't want to leave! Try the local La Petite Tonelle for dinner. Also, Hotel Chateau has free WiFi which you will need if you must stay connected, as in reality WiFi is non existent at L'ancienne Poste. We had several iPhones, iPads, laptops etc and none of us could get a decent connection even when secretly snuggling up to Madam Potier house. Better still, throw the laptop away and just enjoy this wonderful home and gorgeous region.
Omg This amazing property exceeded all of our expectations

This beautiful property exceeded all of our expectations from the magnificent location. To the beautiful home. We have stayed in some beautiful places before. But I think this property is the most special we have ever stayed in.
As a base there are so many lovely spots around to visit. Markets everyday in all the surrounding towns and villages. Caves, Cycling, Canoeing.
We where 3 couples so this house was perfect. Everyone had a very large bedroom with ensuite. The kitchen, Lounge, terrace and all bedrooms had gorgeous views that I think would take way longer than a week to get used to. With hot air balloons coming over and the beautiful river to watch, there certainly was always something to see.
Yes it was a bit of a hike up to the house if you had a large car. But I must say it was worth every step.
From the very first contact we made with the owners it was easy and clear all of the details set out which made for a really easy process. Thanks so much Xanthie and Hamish for a really special experience. Read more
We are so pleased that you all had a good time in Beynac and enjoyed the house.

It all lives up to expectations !!

My husband and I travelled from armenia to Beynac to reunite with our daughter's who travelled from different parts of the world to be with us. We had a wonderful week long stay in this house that was very comfortable, welcoming and tastefully furnished. With the bedrooms on three different levels we were able to spread out and each was fitted with its own bathroom and toilet - which was great as young women need to do a lot of personal grooming! We spent a lot of time cooking, eating and talking as we sat around the wood fire which was really delightful. It was the first week in January when we stayed in the house and the weather was not to cold with even a few sunny days after frosty mornings. The Benyac village was very quite with only a few shops and restaurants open. This suited us just fine - but we needed to remember to stock up on groceries in the morning before the supermarket closed. We did some peaceful walks along the river and around the village and castle located on the cliff top. I loved sitting on the bench underneath the window and looking out at the river as the water flowed down stream. The photos on the web page of the house and village do not lie! Read more
Thanks for your comments Charis, I am glad that your family could spend some quality time together.
No other place on earth we would have rather been

This gorgeous house surpassed all expectations. The views are sensational from every room. To wake every morning to a view of the river and a castle was amazing. I'm sure our meals tasted better served out on the terrace either as the sun was setting or during the sunny days. Easily commutable to all the town markets in the area for fresh produce. Call the delightful "Hello Philippe" if you need a taxi or a tour. He was one of the highlights of our week. Details are at the house to contact him.
Internet access is not reliable, so I'd simply recommend visiting the hotel in town for free wifi with your coffee or afternoon drink. An ideal house for a very romantic honeymoon or fun with a group of friends. We loved it.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The 3 bedroom home is wonderful and very cozy. Patio overlooks the river and is wonderful on a sunny afternoon. The location is very central for exploring the Perigord Noir region. The town is very tiny, but it has a nice restuarant, Le Petit Tonnelle and a nice little antique shop. The chateaux is incredible as are a number of others in the region. Hamish and Xanthe were very responsive through our stay and have a delightful home available for people to enjoy. View is wonderful. The only disappointment we had was that the weather was rainy during ouyr second week, but what do you expect in March and being from Seattle, it really wasn't a problem.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "L'ancienne Poste"
(3 couples). The views really are stunning and the house is very comfortable with lovely bedrooms. There are two good restaurants within about 100 metres but most of the time we were just happy to relax in the garden,on the terrace and around the pool in the idyllic surroundings.Barbecues on the balmier evenings were a joy. British TV programmes were a bonus. All the basic food requirements were just a very short walk away. You really could stay here and not have to use your car.Our only (tiny )gripes were (1). The coffee machine was totally ineffective(scaled up I think )and too small anyway for 6 people. We soon gave up on it and hunted around local supermarkets for a large cafetiere without success sadly.(2)The dishwasher and washing machine needed some TLC.Neither were terribly effective. However, although minor irritations, these things did not diminish the enjoyment of our holiday and I am sure they will be rectified. We had a most enjoyable stay and would rate our experience 5*
