We have two beautiful holiday homes in central Sarlat and central Beynac (wonderful house which over looks 4 Chateaux and the Dordogne river!), both of these houses have been our own family home since we moved to France 13 years ago and we now offer them for others to enjoy. Both houses are private and you will have sole use of the house, garden and pool, they both have their own off road private parking, three bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms. Both houses are within a 2-5 minute easy level stroll of restaurants, cafes and wonderful boulangeries selling the best croissants and baguettes. There are Farmers Food Markets each day of the week in the surrounding towns and villages and a twice weekly street market in Sarlat which also has a daily covered market by the main Square. Here you will find the local farmers selling their freshly harvested produce, including organic bread, fruits, vegetables, cheeses and creams. During the summer months there is a daily variety of street entertainment in Sarlat which is free to watch and sometimes participate in !

Tucked away behind trees on the edge of Sarlat, this house was perfect for retiring to after exploring the streets, market and restaurants of Sarlat. Just left the car in the drive and walked everywhere. The house was clean and warm when we arrived, weell equiped kitchen, although with the huge number of restauarnts in Sarlat, who needs to cook.
Unlike a lot of holiday houses we never ran out of boiling hot water for showers. Unfortunately the time of year prevented us in trying out the swimming pool, which was still under its winter cover, but it was warm enough to sit on the terraceand enjoy a glass of wine in the early evening before walking to the nearest eatery. -

The Perfect house! we stayed in September 2012 - the pool was really clean and so too the house and bathrooms- just like on the website. As we only had 3 days -( we wished for more) we delighted in the Town and ate lots of gorgeous food and wine from the amazing markets.it was just a stroll to the main street -even thought the house felt private and quiet. We went to a castle and canoeing and just enjoyed the ambience of our surroundings. The decor of the house made us remember why we where in France -just delightful. Highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Well other excellent reviews were true. This is a great house in a perfect location. Lovely house with a plentiful supply of wood for the fire. Too cold for the Pool, but looks good and is well shielded from the road. Though it is near to the centre (even a slowcoach would only take 5 mins to the heart of the town) it is a couple of roads back from any through traffic, and we were amazed how quiet it was. Lots of good facilities within easy reach, and being to the north of the centre, you can get easy access to the new bypass to the South. Lots to see and do in the area, we will be back soon. Our only slight complaint is the absence of WiFi, really a must these days as the coffee shops are not open at night.

We had a great two-week stay at Maison Sarlat. We enjoyed the beautiful bedrooms/baths and gathering spaces of the house, the patio and the pool. Perfect weather enhanced the charm of the property, and the afternoon sun on the stone walls and blue shutters had us running for our cameras. The gardens surrounding the property made it feel like a private retreat, yet it was perfect proximity to the center of Sarlat. The owners were attentive to our needs, friendly and professional. The kitchen and dining areas were well equipped with everything we could need. Off-street parking was a plus. I would recommend this property without hesitation. I would have loved to have on-site WiFi,but the nearby cafe proved to be an acceptable alternative. The owners' use of PayPal (rather than requiring a bank wire transfer)for payment allowed me the benefit of using my credit card for the best Usd-euro exchange rate and no extra fees, enhancing the value of the rental.

For the money, Maison Sarlat fell far short of the standard we had expected. On the positive side, it was clean and tidy and set back nicely from the road which afforded it privacy. The kitchen was also well equiped. On the downside:
1) The garden was in some need of attention, a little overgrown with patio furniture in need of replacement or attention.
2) The house had an unpleasant odour - hard to place but possibly damp?
3) The shower in the master bedroom didnt work properly.
4) The small, old fashioned TV had been disconnected and it took us some time to reconnect using the supplied cables
5) The property generally felt pretty basic and lacking in the standard of luxury we expected for this price.
6) The pool became quite dirty during the week we were there, with dead insects and general garden debris. We had expected it to be cleaned in the week but this appeared not to have been done.
Overall we enjoyed our holiday in Sarlat although would not return here as its so over-run with tourists, the weather is unreliable (it rained for most of the week in July) and the property is not worth the money. I would advise others to stay in Beynac or somewhere a little less crowded and touristy than Sarlat. Sarlat is pretty, but its quite hard to see it at times because there are so many people pounding the tiny streets -

The cottage was a fabulous 3 bedroom house close to the old city center. The gardens and pool are beautiful. We sat outside at the patio table even on the rainy days. When the weather turned cold our host stopped by to light a fire in the fireplace. Overall I would highly recommend this Vrbo, it is a great central local location for day trips.
The house is very comfortable and charming. Only drawback, no Wifi. -

The 4 of us (1 couple + 2 adults) had booked for 4 nights and extended to a 5th one.
Fantastic location, walking distance to the "action" (so to speak), yet nicely tucked away at the back of nice garden. Ample space for parking.
Didn't get to use the large enough swimming pool (december), but very much enjoyed the very nice fireplace (additional electric heaters for the room were very effective) and even some of the morning sunshine on the terrace.
The living/dining room was homely, comfy and spacious enough for us to enjoy several meals that we prepared in the well appointed kitchen.
The upstairs and the front bedrooms, both with one comfortable double bed, enjoy great natural lighting and garden views. The third bedroom, with 2 single beds, tucked away behind the kitchen, is ideal for kids/teenagers.
The check in and out procedures were very easy (we saw the owner once for 3 minutes on the last day); instructions and information were crystal clear so we never had to call on anyone to help us in anyway.
Just a block away from the house is one of the best restaurants in Sarlat, and the region is splendid.
All in all, the excellent accommodation was a strong contributor to our brilliant stay there.Response from Xanthe & Hamish Eadie - 06/09/2011

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful house with us. It really was
the ideal spot for our group with lots of space and privacy, yet wonderfully
quaint and cozy at the same time. We particularly loved the covered terrace
with BBQ over looking the pool for meal times and also appreciated
the well-equipped kitchen where we prepared our latest purchases from
the food markets that we visited. The 3 bedrooms were very
comfortable with lovely fresh bed linens and each bedroom had it's
own ensuite shower room, which was a bonus for our group of six when it
came to getting ready! Staying in Sarlat was so convenient and being so
near to the restaurants was just perfect.....we can totally recommend the
Bistro just across the road.
The online description for the house was very accurate and the property is
extremely well-kept. I will certainly recommend this house to my friends
who are visiting the area next year.
Thank you once again for your lovely hospitality and useful
recommendations. -

We found this to be a very well thought out house in a super location right in the middle of town. As there is a large mature garden with lots of trees it makes the whole house, garden and pool area very private, it really felt like a house in the countryside even though there are neighbours. Right from the start we received all the information, maps and details that we needed to enjoy our holiday. The owner, Hamish, maintained the pool and large garden during our stay and was on hand to recommend some excellent restaurants which were all within a short walk of the house, which was great. Sarlat is a lovely place to stay being pretty central to all the surrounding caves, attractions and chateaux, most being within an easy 15 minute car journey. The whole family, from aged 8 years to 76 years, especially enjoyed walking into town for the evening street shows.
