      Great Location

Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We arrived later in the day on a Friday and our Garmin took us right to the location, although it would have been easy enough to find from the directions given.

It is a beautiful old home with many amazing architectual details, but the stairs would have been a challenge for anyone with disabilities and the third floor room was a real trek, especially with bags. However we, a group of three couples, knew what we were getting so that is not a negative.

The location was perfect for exploring Sarlat, going to the amazing Saturday market, walking to dinner in the evening, and taking day trips in the beautiful Dordogne area.

The owner is not onsite and the instruction book was not completely accurate, the wifi key was incorrect as listed and it took us a while to figure out that the one crossed out in the book was actually correct and the "new" one wasn't. The cleaning after the previous guest was a little spotty and we needed to wash the dishes before we felt comfortable using them. Also, needed to make a special trip to the store the next day for toilet paper which was inconvenient.

All that being said it was a perfect location and the right place for our group.

Thank you for your constructive comments which we have taken on board.

The Wifi key got reset when France Telecom decided in their wisdom to update the software on the box. To avoid this being a problem in future, we have reverted to the key being the printed number on the back of the box (instead of the easier to key in, personalized password) - and we have updated the housebook accordingly.

We are not on site (we do tell all our guests this!) - however, our property management company is located only 5 minutes away and are on call 24-7.

Re the dishes not being clean, we are sorry this occurred and had we been alerted to this at the time, we would have sent the management company in to rectify. We do not expect anybody to arrive and to have to clean anything. Likewise, we will in future ensure that sufficient toilet roll is left (only after the previous guests have departed to ensure it doesn't leave with them!).

Thanks again and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our lovely home and beautiful city and we look forward to welcoming you back in future.

Absolutely wonderful two weeks in Sarlat

Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Sarlat is perfectly located for access to so many places in the region - day trips were so easy and so many exceptional places within a very small radius. The markets on sat and wed were amazing and we bought first class local produce at very reasonable prices. The house was so comfortable and we enjoyed preparing and cooking many French feasts! The oven was great. Lovely dining room to enjoy meals together - also the terrace was great as the weather was mostly excellent. Cinema next door but one had a few movies in English with French subtitles which was also a treat. Just loved this beautiful house and village.

Thanks for your lovely feedback and especially for mentioning the cinema! I never thought to add it to the "things to do in the area" list but it is super and has a great choice of films, usually showing at least one per week in the original (often English) version. Also glad you liked the outdoor dining on the terrace - having outdoor space in a town centre is always a bonus. Thanks again and hope to see you, your family and friends in the future.

      Spacious house in ideal location

Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Just returned from a lovely week in Sarlat with my husband and 2 friends , this is a large and very well equiped house and is only 5 mins walk to the centre of the old town.
The terrace has both sun and shade and is perfect for a lazy lunch, having outdoor space is a bonus in such a central location . The house was very well renovated, a mixture of period features, and antiques, along with mod cons, very comfortable place to spend a week, or longer.

      Perfect

Left on 11/09/2011 for a stay in October 2011

To begin let me state that originally I had some concerns about dealing with what I imagined would be an "absentee" landlord. My concerns were completely unjustified and I learned this very quickly in dealing with the owner by e-mail both before and after we booked.
Further, the owner not only responded rapidly to any e-mail inquiries, when we arrived, she provided a local telephone number (in Sarlat) to a lovely English couple. When we arrived we were provided with a "house book" which not only provided vital information about the house but also about the neighborhood...grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, etc.
The owner could not have been more gracious and accommodating.
The property itself was lovely and the location was absolutely perfect for sightseeing in any of the many local towns, caves, etc. the majority of which were between a 30- 45 min drive away. All restaurants were within walking distance and the larger convenience grocery stores were only a few minutes away by auto.Very friendly town people with convenient local parking.
Beds were comfortable and linens were fresh and clean. All appliances functioned well.
The day we arrived we felt as though we were visiting a familiar place.
One of the loveliest places we have ever stayed.

      Good rental

Left on 10/14/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Great location to visit Sarlat and surrounding towns. Nice clean property with good sized rooms and a very well equipped kitchen. Pleasant patio with a lovely glass table where we dined every evening except on the one night it rained. Some rooms are subject to street noise. Hot showers with good water pressure. Easy parking both paid and free. Great idea to start renting on a Friday to enjoy the wonderful Saturday Sarlat market which is much bigger than the Wednesday one. I was amazed to buy a whole one pound lobe of fresh duck foie gras for 16 euros, and it was easy to cook and tastier than some of the foie gras we had at the restaurants. Food prices at the Sarlat market was much better than those at the albi Market. Very nice and helpful owner, Lynne.

      Beautiful town - Great location

Left on 10/01/2011 for a stay in September 2011

Four of us - two couples spent a wonderful week at this property. Location is excellent being less than 100 m from the old Medieval town centre making it an easy walk. The town is beautiful and the markets on Saturday are particularly good. Wednesday market is also good but no where near as big. The house is well located and spacious and well equiped. After staying in hotels and B&B;'s for a couple of weeks it was a welcome experience. The information provided was useful including the restaurant recommendations and the phone contact person was helpful and English so communication was no problem. There is no parking on site but street parking is available and we had no problem getting parked. There in free street parking just around the corner and pay parking in front. Parking is free on Sundays and overnight as well as between 12 and 2pm each day. If you overpay the meter skips the free period and gives credit for the next pay period. The only other negative depending on your level of fitness is that it is on three levels with kitchen, dining, lounge and laundry on the ground level, three bedrooms and one bathroom on the second and one bedroom and one bath room on the top floor. If you have difficulty with stairs it may not be for you but otherwise it is a lovely place to spend a bit of time.
