A wonderful area and great accommodation on a championship golf course with pool in Isle sur La Sorgue.
Accommodation and facilities
Situated in the exceptional surroundings of the Saumane golf course, just 3 km from Isle de Sorgue, and 2.7km to Fontaine de Vaucluse, unspoilt, undulating countryside of North West Provence. This superb modern, residence with swimming pool, and 2 tennis courts and gym, consists of small Provencal style houses divided in apartments (ground and 1st floor) positioned between the fairways. The one and two bedroom apartments are set in clusters, either amongst the pine trees looking south and west over t...he fairways or east across the gently undulating country park towards the blue mountains of Le Lubéron. In addition to the 18-hole golf course, practice tees, driving range, pro shop and clubhouse, tennis courts, gym, a swimming pool, there is a bar, restaurant, Reception, lounges, breakfast room, laundrette with token system, gardens and terraces. A telephone connection can be provided.
The one and two bedroom apartments nestle beneath the pine trees with views across the fairways or towards the mountains of Le Lubéron. Provence Country Club is more than just a golf club with enough activities to fill your day. Enjoy a dip in the swimming pool, or soak up the sun on your apartment's private terrace or balcony. Burn off some calories with an energetic game of tennis, or workout in the gym. Enjoy a late afternoon round of golf and try and better your score. Wind up your day with a sociable drink in the traditional bar over looking the 18th hole, or take a delicious dinner overlooking the golf course and Lubéron mountains, relax and forget the stresses and strains of modern life.
Every apartment benefits from a private patio or balcony and echo the style of rural Provence with colourful shutters, stone and painted walls and tiled roofs. The apartments, decorated with elegance, are comfortable and have well-equipped kitchens including dishwasher, small refrigerator, ceramic 4 ring hob, oven or microwave. Every apartment has a terrace or large balcony with outside furniture, table and chairs. A telephone connection can be provided.
Apartment for 5 to 6 persons (BCF) is 46 to 50 m²: There is a lounge with a sofa bed for 2 or pull-out beds and and well-equipped kitchen as above. There are 2 bedrooms : one bedroom with 1 double bed or 2 twin beds, and a second bedroom with 1 single bed (on request : possibility to add a 6th bed in the bedroom), 1 bathroom with bath or shower and a hairdryer, WC (most with separate WC). With a private outside terrace or large balcony with outside furniture. The price shown here is for this apartment.
We stayed here ourselves and can thoroughly recommend the excellent situation of the apartments for sight-seeing locally, and also the golf was great. We have taken over 40 more photos of the accommodation and golf course - please just ask. We can request for example, a ground floor or a first floor apartment for all bookings when the bookings are made, subject to availability for a supplement of 60 euros per booking. You may pre-order a Satellite TV for 35? per week.

There is a good restaurant (tried and tested for you!) with again a brilliant view, and a majestic Provencal fireplace with local market food, and a first floor bar with leather chairs, retro zinc tables. The expansive terraces over look the 18th hole and fairways and command fine views across rolling countryside to the distinctive lavender blue mountains of Provence.

The 18 hole championship golf course is 6099 Metres, with a Par 72 designed in 1991 by the leading French designer Jean Garialde, a former champion, is set amidst hills and provençal forest with mature pines and oaks, lakes, fountains and many bunkers, broad lush permanently watered, undulating, dish-shaped fairways with doglegs and sloping true greens with devilish burrows (I found very difficult!); with exceptional views of the forest and chalky foothills of the Monts de Vaucluse, the Alpilles, the Luberon, and the Sorgue valley ? especially from the Tee of hole number 5 offering one of the most majestic panoramas of the surrounding towns and villages imaginable. The 18 is a tight left dog leg but returns to the clubhouse restaurant with a very difficult fast green.
However, it can be enjoyed by all golfers with a wide variety of experience, aptitude and ambition. It is difficult from the white tees but more accessible from the yellow, red and blue tees. Additional facilities include a driving range, practice green and golf tuition. A 5-hole short course is due to open in 2007. On this natural well sheltered site, the majority of shots are slightly sloping and the greens are renowned as technical. The "Canal de Carpentras", which separates the golf course in two and makes the 17 very interesting (you will see what I mean..), provides all of the sites water. Several ponds inhabited by carps, decorate the course, but their side location will not stress golfers unduly, but still seemed to attract too many of our golf balls. Other local courses include : Pont Royal, 30 km; Servannes, 30 km; Grand Avignon, 20 km.
