We booked this apartment at the last minute for a long weekend away from our French language studies in Tours. Saumur is just a short train ride from Tours and we read the one review on Trip advisor, contacted Thierry and booked it. What a great place it turned out to be. In Centre Ville but quiet with a host who welcomed us and showed us how the apartment worked and was there when we needed him (a minor problem with the key). We spend a bit of time in France and we're used to quirky apartments that have plenty of charm but don't quite work, but this little apartment is a gem. Comfortable, well appointed and a view of the chateau thrown in. And very well priced to act as a base for exploring the area. Thierry suggested some excursions and recommended a local eatery which we tried and loved. Saumur itself is a place where there's lots to do and plenty of friendly people around. The only thing we think Thierry needs is WiFi -- it didn't matter for a weekend, but for longer it could be inconvenient. But then he might have to put up the price!

We spent a wonderful week, using the flat as a base to see the area and attend a family wedding. We were warmly welcomed by Thiery auger late in the evening of our arrival. He gave us the tour and we loved it. The apartment has everything a couple could ask for in this 1850's building with it's quaint stairways and traditional decor. It is situated in a quiet area and it is very clost to the centre of the town, which is charming and fascinating. Thiery gave us lots of advise on parking, shopping, utilities and local information. It was wonderful to wake up each morning with a view of the Chateau from the very big and comfortable bed. The kitchen is well fitted-out. The living room is cosy and warm. A two-minute walk gets you baguettes and croisants for breakfast! Be prepared for the climb to the second floor. It's worth it!
