Additional Location Information
Sausalito is a great place to spend a night...or a few decade (I came here for three months from NYC...twenty-five years ago).
If you're visiting San Francisco, this little village is right on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge...a charming alternative to big city hotels.
It's a convenient HQ for trips to SF with easy access to the California Coast and the Wine Country.
Nightly rates range from $99 for isolated single dates to $200 for holidays.
This recently renovated modern unit is like a luxurious hotel suite:
A separate bedroom and closet behind french doors (shown open and closed in the photos) with a comfy queen-size bed (and an iron & ironing board).
A living area with a beautiful sectional, gas fireplace (ignited by a remote).
There's a small dining area and breakfast bar.
Bathroom with Jacuzzi tub (with a European-style hand-held shower head, not one mounted on the wall), bathroom sundries and separate WC.
It also has a big screen TV (with cable) and DVD player in the main room and a second little TV/VHR/Cable in the bedroom, as well as WiFi.
There is no kitchen, but there is a mini-fridge, washer/dryer, microwave, coffee machine, coffee & tea, popcorn, condiments, serving supplies, and a private patio.
It is one beautiful floor, approximately 650 square feet, with an entrance off its own patio (with two tables). There's no lucious landscaping or pool, just a restful and private enclave.
I do my best to juggle the check-in and check-out time needs of the Guests, looking for a compromise between them to allow enough time for a thorough cleaning.
It's a half-block off Bridgeway (Sausalito's main drag), five stoplights to Highway 101 (five minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and less than an hour from the wine country) with a bus stop at the corner and off-street parking. A private driveway leads to your front door (if you don't have a low-slung car like I do). It's within walking distance of the Post Office, Grocery, Banks and Restaurants. Just minutes from SF by car or ferry, it's a great getaway.
