Additional Location Information
Fig, cherry, apricot, almond, walnut and hazelnut trees are sprinkled around the property. Guests are welcome to pick the fruit in season - and grapes of course! Beautiful walks can be enjoyed around our 14-hectare estate. We are on one of the ‘grand randonnée’ routes of France for those seeking longer walks/hikes.
Bird watching and deer-spotting are excellent particularly at dawn and dusk. Our small oak forest and picnic pasture provide great entertainment for young adventurers. We are close enough to Saussignac village for you to collect your baguette / croissants on the bikes (2 available per gite) or on foot each morning (less than 1km). There is also a wonderful restaurant in Saussignac - no driving required!
We offer wine and food pairing lunches, wine tours and wine classes including WSET agreed certificate courses on the estate. Please visit FRENCH WINE ADVENTURES for details. The Dordogne is famous for its chateaux, gardens and fine food and wine. We are an easy 45 minute drive to St Émilion home of many Bordeaux grand crus and a great day out.
There is no swimming pool at the property. There is a very good public pool at Gardonne 5 mins away and a lovely river swimming beach (with protected area for kids and playground) 15 mins away in Port Ste Foy (plus a water world this side of Bergerac - about 15 mins).
Traditional french markets include:
Sunday - Issigeac, Gardonne
Monday - Le Fleix, Sainte Alvere
Tuesday - Port St. Foy, Villefranche de Lonchat
Wednesday - Bergerac, Velines, Gardonne
Thursday - Eymet, La Force
Friday - Sigoules
Saturday - Bergerac, Sainte Foy La Grande
(All of these markets are within 30 minutes drive of Haut Garrigue; some are less than 5 minutes)
We are 5 minutes from an SNCF station that links to the TGV, 15 minutes from Bergerac airport and 1hr 20 mins from Bordeaux airport.

DublinGreat Family Holiday immersed in real France
Left on 02/05/2013 for a stay in October 2012
We stayed with Caro and Sean in their Wine Lodge with our 2 kids, aged 13 and 15 and we had a wonderful time.
The Lodge is gorgous. Its has a high spec inside and beautifully positioned over looking the Dordogne Valley and the vinyard. We dined in most evenings, facilities are excellent for cooking from local produce which we bought at the market is great. It has full wheelchair access capabilities as well.
They are the nicest of hosts and we joined in a walking tour of the local area and a talk by Caroline - she is so enthusiastic and knowledgable about wine, the region and organic farming this is a must do activity. We did some grape picking of the sweet grape which was good fun.
Lots to do locally in Bergerac, and the Dordogne Valley - shops, chateaux, caoneing, and food food food.
A very luxurious French experience, I recommend highly.
Next time I want to get to the Parc De Ciel with the kids, exciting highwire park. Next time...
