Description from the owner

The Great Escape - an Antithesis to Civilization!

Away form the crowds of hotel bustle, in a paradise garden right on the beach, among the chirping of birds and parrots, and in the constant rhythm of the surf. Share your lunch with hummingbirds in the garden or with pelicans on the beach.

Escape to Robinson Cruso's world!

The house is in the fishing village of Savaneta, ancient port city and old capital of Aruba. It is situated half way between Orangestad and Baby beach, about a 7 minutes' drive from the airport. Additional Location Information

The house is in Savaneta, away from the maddening crowds.
Savaneta is an authentic caribbean fishing village. It is an ancient port city, and it was the old capital of Aruba. It is currently also the home of the Dutch marine base. There are supermarkets and public transportation along the main road a short walk away from the house. However, the house sits on a side street that meanders along the shoreline. The little town which feels more like a neighborhood has a mixture of local flishermans' homes and weekend homes for the vacationing local "elite'. Everybody seems to interact with the friendly disposition typical to Aruba.
Savaneta is a quick 7 minutes drive from the airport. It is mid way between the capital Orangestad and the Eastern most town of Saint Nicholas.
Baby Beach, considered by many one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, is located in Seroe Colorado near Saint Nicholas at a short driving distance from the house.
Another point of interest nearby is Mangel Alto, the beach in Pos chiquito, our neighboring town. There is a public access beach with areas organized for picnics and gatherings. Driving along the ocean in Pos chiquito always takes my breath away. And snorkeling in the pool like lagoon is an experience of a lifetime.
The Arikok National Park is a desert park typical of Aruba's wild and arrid terrain. It extends north to the rugged coastline where huge waves crash against the steep rocks in rhythmic thump and salt spray. Few explore that part of the island, but the entrance into the park is very close by, and the drive well worth it. There are horseback riding tours and ATV rides to the park, and to the Natural Pool in it.
Most importantly, the house is on the beach. It is a pristine white sandy beach with direct access to the warm clear water below. There is natural shade provided by the Divi-divi tree on shore where one can relax and rejeuvenate.

The perfect place to get away from it all! A tropical Paradise.

Left on 04/21/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We loved every minute of our stay. We highly recommend it.
My husband and I spent 10 days over Easter at this romantic paradise.
This was our 3rd trip to aruba, and we knew we wanted to be away from the madness of the hotels area, in a stand-alone residence, right on the beach, half-way between all the spots we love, i.e. Arashi Beach and Baby Beach. And very close to Mangel Halto and Pos Chiquito beaches, always spotless and virtually deserted. Castaway met all of our criteria.
It is exactly as described. It is simple, but clean, and equipped with everything one might need. It is an ideal starting point if what you care about is being together as a couple, enjoying the amazing beaches all over the island, the diving, the restaurants.
Having said that, if you wanted to just stay there all the time, you'd have all you need.
The soul of the place is the front courtyard. We were inside only to sleep (comfy large bed, air conditioning) and to grab drink and food from the well-stocked kitchen. The courtyard is right by the sea, and the sound of the surf will be the soundtrack of your entire vacation. The barbecue works perfectly. You can cook on a portable hot plate, which you will place on the beautiful mosaic buffet - you are virtually living on the beach. There are two loungers, and a cool queen-size sunbed. All this in the shade of a 30-feet canopy divi tree.
The very best snorkeling on aruba, by far, is right by the reef in front of the house.
The weather was always spectacular, the constant wind makes it very pleasant, and there are no mosquitoes or bugs whatsoever.
There are several supermarkets nearby, so food shopping is easy. You have at least 3 great take-out places next door. The 2 best romantic restaurants on the island are walking distance.
The guest house is next to the owners' residence. They happened to be there for half of our stay, and they were adorable - we were treated like family. Communication before and after the trip was great. Book now!

Property from the sea in front, guesthouse on the left, under the divi tree The courtyard where you will be most of the time. When you first arrive, this is your first impression. Outdoor buffet and french-window you will use to enter the guesthouse Look top left, the salmon colored building will be your house! Your private beach and the crystal clear sea Snorkeling right in front of the house, just feet away Your view during the day, on a rare
