Originally built in the late 1800’s, the building was the first home saved and renovated in the Pulaski Ward by the Historic Savannah Foundation. However, it’s location may be better known as home to Mrs. Wilkes Boardinghouse Restaurant, which occupies the ground floor. This Parlor Level rental is actually where Mrs. Wilkes lived in the early days of operating the Boardinghouse. Now operating as the most popular lunch destination in Savannah, we are bringing back this unique lodging opportunity.
We guarantee this will be one of the largest and finest appointed 1 bedroom homes you’ll find in the Historic Savannah rental... market. Add to that it’s location on Jones Street, previously named by Southern Living Magazine as the ‘Prettiest Street in America’....when you think Savannah, you think Moss-Covered Oak Trees, historic homes, and brick paved streets & Squares...all of these are visible from our windows.
Highlights of our rental include original wood floors, 3 original Marble fireplaces, fine antiques, high ceilings, original pocket doors, and other architectural features common to homes of this period. A King Bed awaits in the extra large Bedroom area, a separate dining room awaits for meals, a large living room with flat screen TV and queen sleeper sofa. The full kitchen and washer/dryer make it just like home. There is also a small patio in the back of the rental for enjoying morning coffee.
But wait there is more: Included in each reservation is free lunch for 2 guests ($36 value) at the famous Mrs. Wilkes Boardinghouse downstairs. Guest will also receive special access for lunch allowing you to bypass the long line outside.

Wilkes Boarding House was a delightful surprise from the moment I turned the key in the lock of the period perfect residence to the walk through the kitchen for an amazing pure Savannah lunch served by kind and generous staff. I loved this place and would definitely recommend it--in fact I hope to book it again next year. Thanks to Lucky Savannah staff who made it an easy and delightful experience.

Lucky Savannah is by far the best place/company I have ever dealt with. There was an issue, not the fault of Lucky Savannah, and the matter was resolved quickly and beyond my expectations. This location is perfect. Not too far from the night life but quiet enough that a good night's rest was had each night. Staying at Mrs. Wilkes was also perfect because going through the kitchen and bypassing the long wait for lunch made us feel like royalty. The house is comfortable with the perfect amenities. We had the Wilkes House and the Pied a Terre, the house next door. It was perfect for couples traveling together because you have your own space but can connect quickly through the back door of each house. Joy was such a pleasure to work with and rest assured, there is no other company that we will use when traveling to Savannah.
The Wilkes House was better than I could have imagined!

From the moment we walked up to and into the unit, we were amazed by the attention to detail and period style of the home. Getting to enter the Mrs. Wilkes Restaurant from the kitchen was so fun. The lines were down the block each day. Our stay was so fun and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The location was close to everything if you bring your walking shoes...a must for Savannah.

Beautiful house. Wonderful furnishings. Parents of the bride stayed over the weekend. Used as bridal party suite for bride & matron of honor for dressing & photos. Loved it. Will stay again. Have to return to have lunch next time!

We loved the Wilkes House apartment. It is absolutely beautiful and the location can't be beat. The high ceilings and amazing woodwork take you back to a time when quality and detail were priorities. We parked the car and only moved it on street sweeping day. Take a walk through the shady squares and you'll never want to leave Savannah!

Having never been to Savannah before, my wife and I decided to take a little get-away. We found the 'Wilkes House' online, and booked it with Lucky Savannah. Corey, the owner, was extremely cordial and a great host.
The 'Wilkes House' is conveniently located in the historic district of Savannah, and is a short walk from everything. The house is listed as a 1 bedroom apartment, but is really like a 1 bedroom house. There is a full kitchen, living room, dining room, and 1.5 baths - all of which were elegantly decorated and extremely comfortable.
Another bonus to the 'Wilkes House' is that it is located in the same building as the renown 'Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room'. When you come to Savannah, you must eat at 'Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room'! However, as a disclaimer, don't plan anything for a few hours after eating there - you will be temporarily incapacitated due to being stuffed from all the amazing food! It is well worth it though!
Overall, the 'Wilkes House' is the perfect place to stay for couples of any age. I would definitely recommend this rental, and Lucky Savannah, to anyone that is planning a trip to Savannah! Read more

We stayed here for a week. The apartment was loveley. Very nicely decorated, clean ,elegant and spaciouus for two. Architetural details with high ceilings, added to it's charm. Great location and within a few minutes walk to Forsythe park. We were so happy with this apartment, we expect to book it next year for another painting workshop. So nice after a full day of painting to come home to this wonderful place to relax...highly reccommended !

The entire rental process for the apartment above Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room went smoothly from beginning to end with Robyn's help. The three very large rooms (living room, dining room, bedroom) are decorated wonderfully making it feel like home away from home. The kitchen has full size appliances, is well stocked with utensils, dishware, various glasses, cups, and cookware. Everything was very clean which is important to us when traveling.
The rental included a meal in the restaurant and the added perk of no waiting in the long line that starts to form at 10:00 am for the 11:00 opening. Robyn met us, took us in the back door and we were seated within minutes!
The southern style food was plentiful and very good. Even if you don't have the chance to stay in the apartment, take the time to eat lunch at Mrs. Wilkes. Be sure to try the fried chicken!
There was some noise in the mornings from the kitchen below but it was laughing and friendly banter which made me smile and want to go join the friendly staff.
The rate per night was very reasonable considering the location is within walkable distance to everything in the historic district. There is a one time cleaning fee, which is my only small complaint because my husband and I always leave a place almost as clean (sometimes cleaner!) as when we arrived.
Our two night stay in Savannah will always be remembered fondly and we hope to return one day.

The apartment at the Wilkes House could not have been better _ elegant, charming, nicely appointed and comfortable from the antique furniture up to the high ceilings down to the marble fireplace in every room. Its ambiance whetted our appetite for the genteel southern flavors that unfolded in every direction just beyond our doorstep. The apartment's location is ideal for exploring Savannah's historic district. That we didn't need a car or a cab to enjoy the city was a luxury that we've seldom experienced in our travels. And special kudos to Corey, for supplying a DVD player so we could watch a recorded installment of "Downton abbey" before the season finale,to Emily for arranging a hair appointment on short notice, and of course to Robyn for being such a gracious and considerate hostess and for arranging the free, no-wait, lunch at Mrs. Wilkes Restaurant, which we decided is the best food in Savannah.

This is a wonderful property, in a wonderful setting! The apartment is beaufitul and very clean. It is located on Jones Street which in my opinion is one of the loviest in Savannah. It is very peaceful and lined with beautiful old trees draped in Spanish moss. The bed was one of the best we have ever slept in other than at home. Add the delicious meal in Mrs. Wilkes Dinning Room and it can't get any better! Lucky Savannah was extremely helpful.

I think this is one of the most charming places I have ever stayed. Three spacious rooms in addition to the kitchen, entryway, and one and a half baths. Very tastefully decorated with antiques. Our only major disappointment was that Mrs. Wilkes restaurant downstairs was closed in January, so we will have to come back another time. Parking was a problem. Street parking was always available, but the meter had to be fed during the day, and we got a ticket the one morning we slept in. Jones Street is beautiful as is much of downtown Savannah. Everything was in walking distance for us. Our only problem in check-in was figuring out how the lockbox worked and then the front door key took a lot of jiggling to work. Very minor inconvenience for a wonderful place. I could not have been more pleased with our accommodations during our stay in this beautiful city.
