#1010 Many say that Washington Square is Savannah's most beautiful setting in the historic district. Open the massive double front doors of your 600 square ft. Great Room and Washington Square is literally your "front yard". Enjoy not only the park-like setting but also your own fern lined cobblestone courtyard featuring outdoor furniture and a Weber grill behind a six foot privacy fence. This 1899 vintage home with wrought iron railings and much Southern charm won an historic district award. Easy access from Bryan and Houston Steets to this ground floor accommodation. Great location and a beautiful home.

Left on 05/02/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Our daughter attends scad and we and her grandparents stayed at this house while visiting her during spring break. The location was wonderful, right on the corner of Washington Square and within easy walking distance of River Street. The house was well furnished and equipped and had a lovely garden area off the kitchen. It provided us with a welcome "home away from home" during our visit.

Perfect location, perfect layout, perfect relaxation!

Left on 04/23/2013 for a stay in March 2013

This home is beautiful, inside and out. It was very clean and very well maintained. We loved that it was obviously an older home, with all the charm that entails, but was very well maintained. It is located in a very quiet part of the historic district, but was within easy walking distance to all of the activities. The owners were a delight to deal with and Tom was extremely helpful and courteous throughout the entire process. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Savannah, and if I ever get the opportunity to visit again, I will certainly do my best to stay in this townhome again. It is absolutely perfect!!!

Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Through all the many years of vacations since the 70's, this is by far our favorite place to stay. It felt like home and made us wish we owned it. We will definitely always come back here anytime we visit Savannah. We would walk the town everyday and bring our purchases back to the house, rest, and then head back out. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

We really enjoyed our stay. It was a bit more expensive than some of the other historic homes we've stayed in in Savannah, but the home itself, the friendly owner, and the location more made up for it.

Left on 10/01/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This amazing rental was perfect for five ladies from Charleston on a Board Retreat. I think I read rental descriptions for every property in Savannah before selecting this one. We could not have been happier with this property, and this is the only place I would rent for a return trip to Savannah! The living space was comfortable, fun, and provided plenty of common area to hold discussions, spread out our materials, and relax. Two bedrooms were located on opposite ends of the house, and both bedrooms provided enough space to share. Linens were fresh and comfortable. Bathrooms were updated and inviting with strong water pressure and plenty of hot water to go around. The galley kitchen was small but allowed us to bring in catered food (which we reheated in the amazing chef's stove/oven), keep our drinks cold, and make coffee each morning. Cabinets hold dishes, glasses of all kinds, and serving dishes for at least 6. The pantry was stocked with essentials including sugar and coffee filters. The courtyard area was our favorite part - the lights made us feel like we were in our own private oasis. The location of this property is very convenient to River Street and also close enough to walk to the scad area. The owner was super-responsive and friendly, and he provided very detailed arrival information promptly upon booking. If I had to say a negative, I would say be careful about parking restrictions on the streets around Washington Square (it varies by night) but there is ample parking within one block of the property and it's free parking on the weekends. Have fun and enjoy this lovely property!

Savannah Getaways and the absentee owner served our needs very well. The Washington Square home provided a roomy, comfortable and well equipped vacation for the four of us.
The location was very convenient to much of what Savannah offers the traveler--the River, restaurants, architectural sights and transportation. Washington Square rental was clean and all equipment worked fine. Beds were comfortable.

The only drawback was a lack of good lighting for reading in the living room.

      Our Christmas in Savannah

Left on 02/05/2012 for a stay in December 2011

Our family from NC came down and we drove up from FL to spend Christmas in Savannah. Our condo was wonderful, beds very comfortable and location was perfect. We were right across from the square and a block from the river. The only thing I can say negative is when you are cooking Christmas dinner with 2 people, you need more room than a galley kitchen. We just had a wonderful time and would like to come again in the spring or fall to really see the best Savannah has to offer. We had problems with the cable and Wifi, through no fault of the owners, but they addressed our compaint anyway. Very nice people. Jana D

Can't say enough about the wonderful home of Tom and Carol. It's in an excellent location, we didn't have a car but we were able to get anywhere we wanted to go. Tom gave us excellent advice on tours and places to eat. We had a group of 5 women and managed to make that one bathroom work for us! Great location, but second room is not for adults

Left on 01/17/2010 for a stay in December 2009

This is a great home for a family.
The master with a king bed was comfortable and the bed was great. However, the second room has a very small- not quite a full size bed and a twin bed. Our adult son and fiance stayed in the second room and the bed was so small and so hard, they ended up in the twin and full, but even the twin was not comfortable. Small kids would be fine here, but not adults.
The location is fabulous and the view out the front door is fantastic looking directly at a lovely town square.
      Service was phenomenal.

The house was perfectly located within a short walk to both the river and center of town. It was great to park once for the weekend and be able to choose our destination each morning knowing we wouldn't be fighting for a parking space somewhere.

Inside, the house had maps and information on tourist attractions as well as the fabulous restaurant commentary list.

My family and our friends had a delightful time, which will mean that we will definitely be back!

Why stay in a hotel when you can have location and character

Left on 12/03/2009 for a stay in April 2007

The whole experience from the first inquiry email to the actual stay was excellent. Wonderful service and personal and professional communications from Savannah Getaways staff and the owner of the rental property. We visited Savannah for my sister's bachelorette weekend. We had a group of girls and bunking here was similar in price to a hotel, but we would certainly not have had the same experience at a hotel. The charm and character of the house was beautiful, the quality and decor made it feel like we were in a real home. Having the owner connect us with locals(Midnight in Garden of Good and Evil tour - one of my sister's favorite books) was an added bonus. We loved the woman who ran the tour and she recommended dining spots that were great. She even got us a place in line at Paula Deen's restaurant for Sunday brunch, the perfect end to a great girls' weekend.

We have stayed in this townhouse many times over the
years and have always enjoyed our stay. The house is
close to the river for walking and to get something
to eat/drink. We also like that we can bring our

them out to walk in. The townhouse is roomy and has
everything you need to stay there. I love to sit in
the back courtyard also. The only down sides that we
have seen is it is on the one end of town so you have
to walk a little more and you have to street park.

Dedicated off street parking is always nice to have in Savannah but a luxury in our 275+ year old historic district. Parking is never an issue off Washington Square in the metered areas. Recommend a 48 hour parking pass for $12 which is not even required on weekends or after 5:00 PM.

Walking from the far Eastern quadrant from Washington Square to Vinnie Van Go Go's in the City Market as a for instance in the far western quadrant can be accomplished within 10 minutes or less for the most part.

      Square living in Savannah

Left on 07/13/2009 for a stay in June 2009

The property (#1010) is so convenient to everything that Savannah offers to its many visitors. You are just across the street from the beautiful Washington Square, one block from the river, a block from The Pirate House (a great restaurant)and just a few blocks from the bustling historic downtown area for shopping and more restaurants. Most items are within walking distance. We chose to rent a car at the airport and drive around due to heat and a day trip to Charleston. Street parking was easy and if spots were filled, a parking garage was just a short walk up the street. If you plan to stay longer than a couple of days, be sure to get a city-wide parking pass that allows you to park in any metered parking space or city operated garage without fear of a ticket. This saved us a great deal of trouble. The property was very clean and beautifully decorated. A trip to the local Kroger's and we had the frig loaded and ready to hit the town. Please check out the shows at the Savannah Theatre. Savannah is loaded with local talent and they put on a great show. We saw "The Beat Goes On." Tom, the owner of #1010 was so helpful with tips and suggestions. He saved us so much time (i.e. the parking pass and others). The living room and bedrooms are very spacious and after a few hours, it felt like home. If we ever visit Savannah again, #1010 will be our choice.

Our visit to Savannah was in celebration of our 10th wedding anniversary. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We have been to Savannah many times and truly love this city. We decided to rent a home instead of a hotel room so we could really enjoy the flavor of the District.

Our host met us as we pulled in and helped unload our car. Tom gave us a tour of the house and courtyard and gave us great suggestions on where to eat, etc. The house and courtyard are just beautiful; you've got everything you need to feel right at home. Special care was taken in the decorating and updating of this home. Just Beautiful!

A short walk to River Street, a good meal at One Eyed Lizzie's and unwinding on a bench in Washington Square -- Not bad for the 1st evening of our getaway. We wanted to be within walking distance to everything happening on River Street but also have a place where we could unwind and relax. This was it! The tea olives were blooming in our courtyard so time spent there with our morning coffee was wonderful.

We love Savannah & plan a return trip next spring, staying right here on Washington Square. This is the place for us.

The owner of the property contacted me and gave us wonderful directions and information for every thing we needed for our visit. When we arrived we were lucky enough to meet the owner and he showed us around the house and explained where we would find everything. We were pleased to learn that the pictures online matched the home. It's actually nicer than the pictures! We'd definitely recommend this house - especially if you want to relax. It's peaceful and serine, just right after a day of sightseeing. I'm thinking of going back in the fall and I would rent this property again.

The ground level historic apartment on green and gorgeous Washington Square was incredible. There is no more perfect location for proximity to both River St. and the historic district. The space is awesome with a beautiful tranquil and private enclosed rear patio. The owner of this property went out of his way to accomodate us with parking permits, etc. without invading our privacy. The open livin-dining-bar area is an awesome space. The master BR, bath and kitchen are all very nice and well appointed. The second BR is less attractively decorated and furnished but still quite acceptable with lots of closet space. Overall, this place gets an A+ and definite consideration for return visits.

We were very pleased in our choice to stay at this beautiful Washington Square location. We were happy to be within walking distance of just about everything we wanted to see. The house was bustling with excitement during the day (I opened the front doors during the day to watch the carriages and tours going by). At night it was quiet and peaceful. I especially enjoyed the court yard which reminded me of a English tea garden and was located right off the kitchen. If you want to get the most out of your trip to Savannah I highly recommend that you stay here or at one of many rental houses, town homes, and apartments this beautiful city has to offer. We traveled with friends that had been to Savannah many times (staying in motels) and they said this experience far surpassed them all just because of the accommodations.
