We arrived at Liberty House on March 7th, this was not our typical Savannah Getaway as it was raining and unusually cold for this time of year. However, the minute we stepped into the courtyard I knew it would be a great trip! Liberty House is beautifully furnished and very well equipped with everything you need for a few days stay. After the Savannah Rain passed the weather turned sunny and we walked everywhere we went. Parking was a bit tricky but we were fortunate and found a space right in front of the house and never drove the rest of the time we were there. I would recommend stopping at the visitor center at the west end of Liberty Street and purchasing a parking pass for your stay. All said I would certainly recommend the Liberty House to my friends. We were well received by the pleasant people who helped to book the house for us as well as the young lady who cleans the house. Thanks for a great stay and I just loved the Savannah Rain!!
Ps - Liberty House has stairs inside and out so I would not recommend it for elderly people or those with special needs.
Nice place to stay in the historic district

Old fashioned decor makes you feel you've gone back in time 100 years. But the kitchen is modern and the place is very comfortable. You are in walking distance of most of the historic district, which is a good thing because parking closer to the river is difficult to find.

Have stayed here many times.
Love the feel of the property...historic with wonderful upgrades. Lovely decorative touches!
Could walk to Parker's every morning to grab coffee...look out kitchen window and view colonial park cemetery. Late evenings as the carriages retire to the east end of historic district, they use the lane behind the carriage house. The sound of the horse hoofs adds to the overall character.
Although parking not included, we've never had a problem with finding a parking spot in front of building.
There are a lot of stairs- the only draw back for some. But Savannah is a walking city, so it just adds to the overall sense of exercise as you experience this wonderful city.
Also, loved sitting in the front courtyard late at night with a cup of tea listening to the fountain

My boyfriend and 2 friends of our stayed here for our vacation this summer over 4th of July and we absolutely loved it and didn't want to go home. We traveled down from Virginia and I have to say that this townhouse is so adorable and it felt like we were at home. The location is great!! Right in the heart of the historic district in ease of walking to the park, riverside and everywhere we wanted to go while we were here. I will definitely be returning here on my next trip to Savannah!

We had a wonderful stay. Very confortable and relaxing. If you need WiFi not available at least not when we stayed. It actually made it better we had to communicate with each other. People that don't like to climb stairs look somewhere else! you have to climb stairs to get in the front door and to bedrooms and full bathroom. I can say I liked the workout though. Cozy little place would stay again

We have used Savannah Getaways before and again another fantastic place to stay, ideal location, short walks away from River Street and parks, peaceful
Location easy parking. Liberty House wonderful, private courtyard to relax and watch the world go by, apartment spacious, very clean, well stocked, we visit Savannah each year, from now one Liberty House will be our home whilst in Savannah.

We, that is my husband and 2 daughters, age 12 and 14, loved Savannah and loved this home. We could walk to everywhere day and night, even felt safe walking home after an evening ghost tour. The house was beautiful and well equiped, I cooked Thanksgiving dinner there. The house is beautifully decorted and very comfortable. We plan on visiting Savannah again and would stay at this home again, if it is available.

We stayed at the Liberty House in Savannah the 1st week of October and what a great week! We have visited Savannah before but this was the 1st time staying in the Historic District. The Liberty house is in a great location withing walking distance to everything. The only time we moved our car all week was to drive out to Tybee and walk in the surf. The Liberty Houe is small, but quite comfortable for 4 people. The coutyard was very nice and all of the quaint little resaurants were great. We would not hesitate to stay at here again and will likely look to the Liberty House first when we visit Savannah again.

After visiting Savannah numerous times, I wanted to stay in a historical home the next time we visited. I inquired about a couple different homes, but this was the only home got a reply back on. We were only planning on staying two nights and some vacation rentals require a 3 night minimum. This was also one of my favorite homes I saw, so having the other inquiries not get back to me was no loss to me. We went to Savannah over Labor Day weekend. We were given the code to enter the home and had no problems getting in after we found the lock box on the door. Other rentals have their lock boxes next to the gate in the courtyard, so we weren't sure where ours was. But the home was just beautiful. There was just a couple of art pieces that I wouldn't have chosen if it were my own home, but other than that, I wouldn't have changed a thing. We had one minor problem and that was mold on the decorative pillows in the master bedroom. There's a dehumidifier downstairs where the bedrooms are, so there's a moisture problem, but the home was built in the 1800s, so you can't expect everything to be perfect. I just put the pillows in the laundry room and notified Savannah Getaways. They apologized and said the owner would be notified. Our security deposit was returned right on time, as told in our rental agreement. I highly recommend Liberty House for couples wanting to get away for a romantic weekend or for parents of older kids. We brought our 15 year old daughter and she loved the home, but I wouldn't recommend this home for younger kids due to the decor. Elderly people might not like the stairs leading up to the front door, either. We definitely plan on staying at Liberty House when we visit Savannah again. No more hotels for us!

Having visited Savannah many times, I wanted our next trip to be spent in a historic home since my husband and I hope to live in Savannah one day. We chose Liberty House due to the decor. It felt very comfortable. And comfortable it was. The home is furnished with excellent taste and there was very little I would have changed if it were my own home. We liked having a whole house to ourselves and not have kids running around in a hotel room above you or loud, drunk adults returning to their room late at night. It was our home for the Labor Day weekend. There was just one minor issue and that was in the master bedroom. I noticed mold on one of the decorative pillows on the bed, so I put both pillows in the laundry room. There is a dehumidifier in the home on the lower level, so there's obviously a moisture issue, but no big deal since it's a historic home. I did notify our rental company about the mold and did get an apology. The homeowner was to be notified of the issue, too. But besides that, everything was super comfortable. We planned on cooking breakfast there, but since we were so close to Parker's, we made a daily walk to the store to get some food already prepared. My husband loved the shrimp and grits and my daughter loved the chicken biscuit! I've already been looking at other historic homes to rent for our next trip to Savannah and I've only seen a couple as nice as Liberty House, so we will most likely stay here again. I wouldn't suggest this home to people with small children due to the decor, but this is perfect for a couple wanting to get away for a romantic weekend or someone with older kids. We did bring our 15 year old daughter and she loved the home. To the owners of Liberty House: you have a beautiful home. I'm glad we stayed there. :)

Affordable Historic Experience

From the booking to the Departure of our stay this was a great place to stay to experience the historic Savannah, although out of the way of the hustle and bustle this home provided us with a great home from home, experience. On our arrival the house was clean,it is in court yard setting, with very steep stairs so not recommended for anyone challenged physically, the house inside was decorated perfectly for the area and kitchen well equipped for someone wanting cook a meal, not much place to store food items but with a bit of moving around it would work. The parking was not bad at all, we did get a parking pass for the metered area as we arrived on Thursday but Friday after 5pm, it was first come fisrt pick for parking but never had an issue. As I wrote earlier this house is off the crowded area, but didn't interfere with the feeling of Savannah...It is close enough to things withing walking distance and if you hire bikes then not a problem,we didn't use our vehicle other than going to the grocery store for Milk so we could enjoy a nice cuppa tea in the morning. Only complaint I have is the beds...not the most comfortable but to each their own. I had to call the office as there was a minor question about the shower, the owner called me back in mins and was so nice, that is great personal care. I recommend this over staying at an Hotel.
A little jewel in the centre of the Historic District
Left on 07/19/2011 for a stay in January 2011 | Richbt
There are many thing to love about this little (2-storey, 2-bed, 2-bath) house: its situation at the back of a very attractive garden; its location in the centre of the Historic District within walking distance to everything of possible interest; its slightly 'over the top' interior decor; its excellent modern well-eqquipped kitchen and small but attractive and functional bathrooms; its well-appointed bedrooms with plenty of storage space. During the first part of our stay at the beginning of January when Savannah was quite cold, the heating system didn't appear to be strong enough to get the bedrooms on the garden floor up to a comfortable level. Also, for a good part of our stay, the shower in the main bathroom was not functioning properly so we were taking warm rather than hot showers. Some people might be deterred by the lack of off-street parking but for us it was never a problem; we found spaces close to the house pretty well any time we needed them. These are relatively minor deficiencies in what was otherwise a very comfortable, welcoming property where we spent 2 very happy months.
A perfect Savannah experience!

This 2 bedroom apartment, located perfectly in the heart of historic Savannah, is wonderfully furnished with a comfortable living room and two lovely bedrooms. The kitchen was great, and we would have been able to do much more than the easy breakfasts and coffee-making that we did over our 3-night stay. The courtyard is spectacular - although shared with other apartments, we saw no one else and it all felt very private.

We rented this property over the 4th of July weekend. We were blown away by the property when we first got inside. Its very nicely decorated and comfortable. The location in the historic district made it great for walking to activities. The only time we moved our car was to drive to Tybee. The stairs to the carriage house might be challenging for older renters.

Everything was great except the barking dogs across the street started in early in the morning and the guy next door (shared wall) had a yippy dog which you could hear right throught the walls... The realtor's lock wasn't real easy to open up. It took us 4 different trys and it was dark (midnight). Otherwise the place was great!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. My family and I stayed here the night before my wedding. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The home was gorgeous! This home contained all the beautiful architecture of Old Savannah. My favorite part of the home was the courtyard. We took some fabulous pics in the courtyard. I would have to say my only complaint would be the fact the there is only 1 1/2 bath. Two showers would've been better for our party of 6.

Everything was perfect with one exception. It is IMPOSSIBLE to take out the garbage. Where does it go, and do we have to drive/walk all the way around the block to get to the dumpster??? We ordered a pizza one night and couldn't figure out how to discard the box. We always keep the properties we rent very neat and clean and this just wasn't acceptable. At LEAST, leave information for guests to know how to dispose of trash. Otherwise, very very nice. Read more
Thank you for your comments. Most historic district homes have roll away trash bins that are typically kept out of site in the alley ways as a rule. The property owner and the cleaning resource have both been made aware of your comments and directions on how to locate trash bins for future guests will be left in this carriage house.

We stayed here in early April 2010 while visiting SCAD with our daughter. As soon as you walk into the gate, you are welcomed with a breath taking courtyard. The decor of the property was absolutely beautiful...especially the upstairs...we loved it! The kitchen was gorgous as was the bathrooms. The only thing was the difference in temperature of the two floors. In order for the upstairs to be bareable, the bedrooms downstairs would be cold by bedtime. And although the two bedrooms were lovely in decor, they weren't that comfortable because of the temp...it also seemed a little dungeony. But even at that, we really enjoyed staying here and we would recommend it to others.

This is a great two-bedroom townhouse in the
historic district. It's quiet, cute, and it's set
back in a courtyard, which gives it some
exclusivity. There are steps going in (steep) and
steps inside (steep), but if you're mobile, they
shouldn't be a problem. Close to a playground and

I have two complaints: 1) there needs to be a
written guide to the property, with instructions on
garbage removal, Internet access, parking, etc.; 2)
the property was clean, but it needs a deep
cleaning (ceiling fans were dusty and gross;
closets were cluttered; kitchen cabinets need to be
wiped down; lots of dust bunnies in the corners --
nothing unsanitary, as the bathrooms and kitchen
sink were clean, but a property of this caliber
should be perfect for each new visitor). Other than
these two complaints, I would've given our stay

The condo was beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. We stayed over New Year's and found the location to be perfect. We were within walking distance of the river walk, park, and restaurants. There is a great breakfast place up Liberty a few blocks and a gormet grocery store around the corner. It was cold (we're Floridians) and found the heat worked very well. Used the kitchen to cook and enjoyed our stay. We'll be back and would like to stay here again.

Delightful. Lovely 2d story living room/dining room, small but well equipped kitchen, convenient 2d level powder room, two well-sized 1st floor bedrooms and bath.
Obtaining the Savannah parking waiver ($14.00) eliminated stress over the somewhat complicated parking rules, leaving time to wander through Old

The location of this nicely decorated home was perfect for connecting with our son, a graduate student at SCAD. The home was comfortable and met all of our needs. We didn't mind the stairs at all. My only complaint with the property was that it smelled a bit musty when we first entered. It needed a good flow of fresh air throughout, maybe a drapery cleaning could help.
We had 5 adults in our party and although another shower would have been nice, it all worked out fine. The rental company was very accommodating. We managed to find parking within the block for our rental. I catered a reception for my son's thesis show in photography and I was able to prepare everything in the kitchen and had enough dishes/work space.

The place was great, beautifully furnished, and in a fantastic neighborhood, too. Just a magical Savannah carriage house.
It would not be ideal for someone who has trouble with steps. But other than that it was simply perfect, just a beautiful space. The only thing I would change is to put lighter drapes on the windows and make them open-able. I hate a/c and would have preferred to sit in the evening with the cross-breeze---though I am sure most people would disagree.
The door downstairs was stuck shut and the dishwasher needed to be more solidly in the frame, but those are minor complaints.

We really enjoyed this property and it's ideal location. The furnishings and appointments were very nice and the listing agent was extremely accomodating.
I am an admitted clean freak, and I spent the first few hours giving the kitchen, bathrooms, and washer area a thorough going over. The dryer vent is broken, which is a huge hazard, and the shower needs to be regrouted and shower handle replaced. New sheets, pillows and freshly laundered bedspreads(after each stay)would also be nice.
Beautifully stocked kitchen.
I would also mention that it is actually a one and a half bath home.
We had a delightful time during our three night stay.

The interior of the townhouse was lovely and the location was within walking distance to all of Savannah's historic district. The issue was stairs. I don't recall anywhere in the property discription nor were the entrance stairs visible in the photo, an explination of the steep and numerious steps to the entrance door nor the steep and circular stairs from the public rooms to the bedrooms and full bathroom. Additionally, once we climed the stairs upon arriving at the property the first time it was after dark and there was no light to use to open the key box. I think the stairs is a huge issue and should be disclosed completely in the literature about the property.

I rented the Liberty Street townhouse from August 9 through 13, 2008 for myself, my son, his wife and 4 year old son. It was even better than I expected and surprisingly "child friendly". Although there were a lot of antiques, everything was very sturdy. So don't hesitate to choose this property if you are bringing a litttle one. I enjoyed every minute of my stay.
