The Marbled entry and hallway greets you in style and with its high ceilings and open views to the entire downstairs. The Living Area sha...res the same airy feeling with its high ceilings and floor to ceiling built in shelves. Marbled fireplaces in both the dining room and Living Room add grace to each along with beautiful wood floors dating back to the 1850's. The open floorplan makes entertaining large groups a breeze and a pass-through from kitchen to dining room allows for conversations to continue whether serving or dining. Passing through the Dining Room and it's antique mahoghany dining table which seats 8 - 10, you will find your breath taken by the simplicity, huge size, and striking style of the Kitchen. Its size along with stone tiling, Quaker styling, and wooden countertops dating back 300 years & an antique solid oak dinette set for 4 makes this a must have home away from home. The Second floor features a Master Bedroom furnished with luxury in mind has an attached bath, roomy walk-in closet and French windows that open onto your private balcony. Down the hall reside two adjacent Queen Bedrooms. The first, charmingly decorated with a white rosebud motif, blends yet contrasts strikingly with the second Queen Bedrooms black and white Civil War decor. Twin brick fireplaces in these two bedrooms give a fraternal feel to the rooms. In addition, French doors connecting the two rooms from within allow guests who wish to convert their private boudoir into a 2-bedroom suite to do so with ease. The Third Floor routinely brings gasps of delight from the younger set with its low slanted ceilings, dormer windows & two built in window-seats that frame this airy room equipped with two twins and a full bed. Colorful coverlets, a writing desk, Nintendo game center and VCR complete with an assortment of games and videos for the G through PG-13 set combine to satisfy all ages. Heading outside to the dual-level deck you can choose to grill or just relax on the patio beneath the umbrella table. Seating will accommodate 10 for outdoor barbecues on the deck and patio. The Carriage House provides a discreet ramp for wheelchairs/strollers & a disability-friendly first floor bedroom and stone handicap-friendly shower that can be accessed by wheelchair if necessary. Soft, leather and Wooden/Iron furnishings lend an inviting feel to the main living areas yet result in a hypoallergenic setting that is pet-friendly & allergy-resistant. 20 minutes from Tybee Beach, several blocks from the much photographed Forsyth Park, and only short walks from such local favorites as The Pirates House Restaurant on Bay Street and Clary's or Mrs. Wilkes on Jones will find you never at a loss for things to do in our city of hospitality. The luxurious Estate combines both the 2-story Carriage House and 3-story Manor and comfortably sleeps up to 16 in beds with high-quality mattresses and superior comfort. Meandering between the shady, foliage-filled courtyards of the Manor and Carriage House is easy. While each maintains delicious privacy, they are only steps away from each other. A spacious, private driveway adjoins the two properties easily fitting up to 4 cars or an RV/boat/trailer combination and combines with the courtyards to give guests the feeling of living in a private resort. While non-metered, onstreet parking is rare in the historic district, you'll find it to be plentiful on Taylor Street which fronts the Estate. Pets considered with owner approval. $100 non-refundable security deposit required per pet. Roomy, fenced dog-run located across street at M.M. Beasely Park along with baseball diamond and playground. No smoking allowed. Please note that a longer nightly minimum may be required during peak season dates, holidays or special events.
This house and cottage were perfect for our large family! We had the families with kids in the main house and the singles in the carriage house. Both were beautifully decorated with mementos that belong to the owners. We had everything we needed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location as well - within walking distance of everything you do in Savannah!
My family had an amazing stay here while in town for my wedding. We could put the grownups in the main house and the young adults in the carriage house. The location was perfect and the interiors were nicely decorated. Great to be able to keep the family together under roof and not to be transitioning between hotels and hotel room in order to see everyone.
Our Girl Scout Troop rented both the Manor House and Carriage House. All but two adults stayed in the Carriage House. We stayed for a week. I stayed in the Manor House with another adult. I will always remember this trip, hearing their laughter and energy throughout the house. These were not younger girls, they were brooding 10th graders, but they put all that aside for one week. All of us will remember our stay at that house for a very long time.
