PhiladelphiaExtremely noisy neighbors !! Don't stay here
Left on 03/17/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We stayed here because we had stayed in this neighborhood before. But this row house is next door to (and by next door I mean connected to) the home of a professional rock musician. I didn't get his name, but I spoke to him because he was playing his electric guitar loud loud loud from about 7:30 am until 10:00 pm. He said he's within the law to play during those hours and that's how he earns his living. I guess so - whatever, but we didn't get a moment's peace while there.
Response from Savannah Getaways - 03/20/2013
Manager
Thank you for your review. Unfortunately the very nature of "Living Like a Local" at any of our roster of homes in the historic district carries the caveat of respecting the laws that the City of Savannah enforces. While we understand your frustration, this is the first noise complaint we have ever received on this near 5 Star rated townhouse.
We will of course warn other guests of this possibility now that we are aware. The reality is the musician told it true, he is well within the law to play music during those hours. He has possibly been reported before and knows the law, we're thinking since this is the first we have heard. We try to respect all of our neighbors, property owners and tenants alike as far too many times the role is reversed where our guests are creating the noise issues. Certainly this was not the case in this instance.
The guest that stayed a full month and left just prior to your check in gave no indication of a noisy neighbor. Unfortunately noise can be an issue at any location you might stay at in the future within the district given the number of younger college age renters they live in the city during the school year but rarely do we hear this complaint from our guests.
Hearing about it after the fact does not present us much opportunity to rectify the problem which probably would have proven difficult to resolve in this particular instance. Should you book a property through us again in the future, make us aware and we will see if we can make it up with some sort of discount on the next property which hopefully will not have a musician living next door. -

Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in November 2012
The home was very clean and spacious. The kitchen was very well equiped. We had Thanksgiving dinner at the home and the dining room was a perfect place for a large gathering.
The bedrooms were spacious and comfy. The bathrooms upstairs were nice, the downstairs bathroom was a little dark and dated but it was nice to have the extra bathroom on the 1st floor.
Our favorite spot was the upstairs deck looking over the back yard - Very relaxing.
The only issue some may have are the stairs. They are a bit steep and this is a 3 story house. Not an issue for us - but might be for some folks. All in all - loved the house! -

Left on 08/28/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This home is beautiful and very accommodating. We enjoyed our time at this Jones Street Rowhouse so much that we brought food in so that we could eat and enjoy our lunches and a dinner or two on the veranda. It doesn't get much better than this. The amenities were suburb. We didn't need for anything. The home is very nicely decorated. And the garden patio is peaceful. Savannah Getaways provided excellent service and they made checking in and out simple. It was the perfect place for our dear friends to celebrate their 50th Wedding aniversary! They wish to return soon and so do we! Thank you!

Left on 06/06/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Everything about this house was fantastic. Location was great and the service before travelling was spot on.
We received an email on arrival home saying that there was evidence of us having a dog in the property and some or all of our security deposit would be retained? As we had travelled from England this was obviously not true and did spoil our stay sliightly by leaving a bitter feeling that we were being ripped off!
House was lovely and very comfy beds.Response from Savannah Getaways - 06/08/2012
Manager
A complete deposit refund was made to these guests when they pointed out the fact they were here from England. The source of the dog feces on the floor found by the cleaning staff after guest's departure is still a mystery in this non-pet friendly home. So call it even, an "unwarranted" e mail on your return home vs. an "unwarranted" negative review implying a portion of a deposit was kept that never happened.
At Savannah Getaways we always strive to do the right thing for both guests and homeowners. There is a reason we have the most independently reviewed 5 star vacation rental homes in Savannah Historic District which speaks volumes about our integrity with the administration of our deposit return policy. -

The Jones Street Rowhouse exceeded my expectations! Beautiful courtyard. Great Kitchen. Every room comfortably yet tastefully decorated. The dining room table doesn't quite match the quality of the rest of the property; I would have preferred a nicer table with no need for the table cloth. I needed to replace several light bulbs. Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Comcast Cable with all the channels and even DVR! Private off street parking is a big plus. Location is wonderful...an easy walk to downtown but away from the noise on a beautiful and peaceful street. There are a lot of stairs and they are fairly narrow and steep. Check in was very easy. It would be nice to have contact information of the owners in case of emergency. I've already planned two more trips!!

As a property management company, we pride ourselves on making sure all the contact information is provided in the event of an emergency. The appropriate phone numbers are located on your confirmation letters that are e mailed to you once reservations have been made along with all the other necessary information you will need to gain access..
The property owners of this particular home do not wish to be bothered by guests staying in their home. They prefer you contact their management company of note. -

Left on 03/21/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We used this house as a respite from the northern winter for reading, golf, exploring Savannah and a mini family reunion. So mostly there were just the 2 of us but we expanded to 5 for the reunion.
We had a most wonderful time. The courtyard is so lovely for lingering... for reading, cocktails or coffee: the sound of the fountain and the gas-lit ambience couldn't be better. Then when it rained a little we could adjourn to the covered verandah on the 2nd floor to then look over the well appointed garden.
The house works very well: we appreciated the stairs as it allowed some dent to be made in the calorie intake as a result of the great restaurants!
Everything in the house is elegant and it feels vey luxurious, yet comfy.
The dining room is really good as one can dine with just 2 or expand to more. It is practical yet elegant.
I make particular mention of the comfort of the beds: they are very good indeed.
The location: How did we know? It was amazing! close to all the gorgeous squares and tours one might want to take. A wide street lined with live oak trees with the superb spanish moss, seemingly draped over the limbs. Looking out the window at any time of night or day was enticing, but none as special as the minutes before dawn or at dusk
Other than how we felt in the house, all the photos are true: if you study them you will know all.
Getting the keys and leaving was so easy and streamlined.
Thanks to all the staff at Savannah Getaways: we had the best time and want to return soon. Thanks so much! -

Dacula, GAGreat weekend getaway!
Left on 11/30/2011 for a stay in November 2011
Our vacation started off auspiciously. When we first arrived in Savannah we decided to walk around the town. While doing so we received a call from Savannah Getaways advising us that the prior renters had not vacated the premises but that they were working on locating them. The staff was very informative and remedied the problem so we were able to check in right on time.
When we arrived at the E. Jones St rental we ran into the owner of the property who was just in the area. He was very friendly and showed us all the features of the rental and gave us the layout of the surrounding area. The property was very accommodating, our only issue was that the dishwasher was not operational but we only ate dinner once in the house and those dishes along with the breakfast dishes were easy enough to hand wash.
We were down for the 1/2 marathon and the E. Jones St location was perfect. The race route passed by just two blocks away and it was a five minute walk to the finish area. All the restaurants and historic sites were well within walking distance and we did not drive our car the length of our stay.
Overall the location was ideal and the property was charming, relaxing, and beautiful. We are already looking to come back to Savannah for a getaway and will definitely look stay there again. The Savannah Getaways staff was very professional and courteous and I will be recommending this property and their agency to others.
Thanks again for a wonderful experience.

When I saw this place on line, I thought it looked really cool. I had to rent it. When we saw it in person, we were just blown away. It is a beautiful property with rustic elegance. I really can't even sya enough about it. It's great if you want to entertain or if you want to just hide away. The wedding party that I came with insisted on taking some of our bridal pictures there. Lovely.

What a delightful home. it truly was a very realistic experience to stay in historic Savannah in a truly historic home. We lover it. My college friend from nursing school 40+ years ago and her husband from NJ joined this pa couple for a well deserved weeklong stay. We enjoyed the home, even cooked some meals there, the many historic sites including Hilton Head, Beaufort, and Tybee as well as many Savannah sites. The weather could have been a bit more cooperative, with lots of rain and heat, but we survived. This home is so well located that it was easy to walk or drive everywhere. And the short walk to Clary's was a treat. We would consider returning to the same home and site on another visit. Thanks.

Loved it, loved it, and loved it! What a beautiful house. First time to Savannah and we will definitely return again. The private garden was really nice at night with candles lit and the water fountain running. The second floor veranda was the best. We sat there for hours talking, relaxing, drinking wine and enjoying the view of the garden and trees under candle light. Loved the location and will stay here again. The only negative thing about the house is all the stairs but if you can handle all the stairs to the second floor and third floor you will enjoy this house. We did!

We felt we were taking our chances in renting a home as opposed to a hotel stay. However, the house, amenities and location were all we were looking for. The location allowed us to walk to everything we wanted to do, and was safe in early morning and late evenings. The house is beautifully restored, although some work was still being done. We were two couples and all had our own space, enough TVs, wireless internet, and beautiful garden. Our week was just perfect, largely due to this beautiful house.

Staying in this home was so comfortable and easy. Everything was provided and emaculate. I enjoyed the home like atmosphere and the ability to walk or drive anywhere and everywhere. The Jones house in the perfect location for anyone to stay alone or with family/small children. The house is perfectly decorated and has all the kitchen items my professional Chef could ask for. The back yard is amazing and inviting and the a/c rules! the owners were wonderful and we will stay again if we ever venture back to Savannah from Seattle, Washington. I have worked in the high end hotel industry for 20+ years and chose to rent houses for our vacations - much more relaxing. this house was perfect and even the linens were 800+ thread count and up!

Left on 10/05/2009 for a stay in September 2009
We rented a house in Savannah for a week. Drove 14 hours from the Chicago area (15 actually, stopped for dinner)and arrived around 2:00 AM tired and grumpy. Instructions had been emailed to us regarding how to enter the home. The instructions were flawless. Brought in all the luggage for the four weary travelers and explored the house. Even though sleep was needed, we had a drink and stayed awake until 4:00 AM happily enjoying our new home.
We had only viewed the house via the Internet and were pleased with the cleanliness and decorating. It was much more than we expected.
We explored Savannah mainly by foot since the house was well located and drove to Tybee Island and found some great restaurants and points of interests there.

Beautiful home. The location was perfect for accessing Savannah sites. Great use of space. Wonderful combination of old and new. Very clean and well maintained. Devine bedrooms and bathrooms. Very quiet and beautiful street. We had no problems with noise. The veranda is a great place to relax and look out over the courtyard. The kitchen is first class along with the media room. Most of the time we could park on the street, but there were a couple of times when we could not and the private parking space was very valuable. I went to Savannah with my daugher and she loved it too. I have recommended it to friends and I will definitely stay there again.

This house is wonderful. The walled in garden and the 2nd floor porch is where we spent most of our time. Super for chatting with a cup of coffee or glass of wine in the evening. The house is much larger than the pictures show. The kitchen is really, really nice, but we were disappointed in the fact that there were no cereal bowls and also that they had plastic wine glasses. Please, pony up for real wine glasses. They have this gourmet kitchen, but do the owners cook? Obviously not or there would have been a lot more dishes. Location is great. We got up early and jogged every morning at a nearby park and felt very safe. Good restaurants are close by. This is a perfect vacation home.

Left on 06/11/2009 for a stay in May 2009
We rented this home on Jones St. for our 25th aniversary and could'nt have made a better choice. This area of town is very quiet even during the day, and the location is choice, in the historic district but away from the zoo called River St.
The details: the house is spotlessly clean, high quality linens and very comfortable mattress. To us, one of the best features is the back porch that faces the private courtyard out back. The rear of the house faces North so you don't have the sun beating on you in the afternoon. It's quite a bit larger than you may think from the pics, maybe 12x20.
Honestly, the kitchen could have been a little better equipped. There is a coffee maker, microwave, and nice gas cooktop, but if you plan to do much cooking you may want to take an inventory of glasses and other utensils since that supply is a bit spotty. I don't mean this to be a caveat in any way, just
FYI.
So, to sumarize, this home is an excellent choice for a trip to one of the most beautiful cities in America; you get a true feel of place here, the real oldtime South.
We would stay here again without hesitation and encourage others to do so as well. Enjoy! -

Orlando, FLPerfect Get-away Experience
Left on 05/02/2009 for a stay in March 2009
Spent an extended weekend girls get-away at this beautiful historic home. The description of property was very accurate - we were all very pleased! Accommodated 6 of us perfectly. The patio and garden areas were a wonderful bonus for our a.m. coffee chats. Fully stocked kitchen - if you want to cook on vacation! (we didn't!) Entire home was furnished very nicely; we were without nothing!
The location was really great - only a couple blocks to walk to a fabulous cafe for breakfast/lunch. Area of home was just beautiful (our tour trolley actually passed the house).
We will never think of staying at a hotel after experiencing this home - so much more for the money (and really was not much more costly). The "2 parking spaces" was very tight for 2 vehicles, but was able to easily get street parking as well.
I would highly recommend this rental property - you will not be disappointed! -

We rented this property from Savannah Getaways. It's been our second rental with them and we've been very happy. This rental is beautiful and huge. When it says 3 floors, it really means it. The bedrooms are on the top floor, there's a sitting room with TV on the second floor and the bottom floor has the kitchen and a sitting area. Everything was really great except we noticed the floors were a little dirty.

Beautiful Home, Convenient, Quiet Location
Left on 08/04/2008 for a stay in June 2008
Lovely house in the Historic District, an easy walk to dining and
shopping. The house was in impeccable condition, very clean.
Pristine linens, comfortable beds and seating, lighting where you
need it. The kitchen could be a little more well equipped. Nothing
absolutely essential was missing, but it's fairly bare bones.
We ~lived~ on the second floor verandah, which overlooks the
well-landscaped patio.
Off-street parking was very welcome, but FYI, not a whole lot of
clearance for anything but a car. My VW Van just squeaked in under
the header.
The house could use a table and some window coverings on the
second floor. The only table is on the ground floor at the rear of the
house.
Minor quibbles, all, considering the elegance of the experience.
