      Very nice accomodations

Left on 10/19/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This home was conveniently locatated to a wide variety of Savannah. It was also very clean and the kitchen had more than ample dishes, cups, and utensils. One drawback I don't remember seeing beforehand was that the entrance to the third floor bedroom was through the master bedroom. If the third floor houses children this probably works great, but is a little awkward with adults. We would stay again though!

Awesome house - perfect for children

Left on 09/03/2012 for a stay in March 2012

This house was so awesome because our babies slept upstairs in the loft on the 3rd floor, so us adults could play games and be super loud downstairs on the bottom level. The living room couch is huge and the dining areas was also very accommodating! Beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms and so close to all the downtown savannah hotspots! We could walk or rise our bikes everywhere! Love love love this house!

Great location, Clean Place, Crazy layout, cranky neighbor

Left on 07/19/2011 for a stay in May 2011

We went to Savanah for a mini reunion of sorts. Just a group of army brats that had not seen each other in 20 plus years. We thought staying in a house instead of a hotel would lend itself to us getting to know each other all over again...and it did.

Pro's - We had a wonderful time, the appartment was clean, well furnished and in a great location. The location was pretty centralized, all the action was just blocks away. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook if we so chose. The sheets were clean, and there was plenty of towels. The space was deffinately large enough, and seating was ample. We totally enjoyed sitting on the deck chit chatting under the canopy of the trees.

Con's - The layout left a little to be desired. In order to get to the loft area (3rd bedroom) you had to go through another bedroom, which didn't leave much in the way of privacy. Both full baths were located in bedrooms which meant interupting someone else to get to one of them. This place would probably accomodate a family much better than a group of friends that hadn't seen each other in 20 years. Secondly, the neighbor downstairs made a point of coming up to complain before there was anything to complain about. When asked if we were disturbing her, she said no, but she just wanted to come up to make sure we don't..I thought that was a little forward and rude. We were a group of 40 somethings, hard core partying is not what we do. And thirdly, there was plastic on the mattresses, which made me sweat like a pig every night. I really hated the plastic on the beds, that probably bothered me the most.

Response from Savannah Getaways - 07/20/2011

      Savannah Getaways

      Manager

The homes in the historic were originally laid out for families. Converting these to vacation rentals came later. Setting these up to sleep parties of ten guests is what it is. While all guests are welcome to this facility in the district, it is important to understand that Savannah's Historic Preservation Society dictates how these historic structures can be configured. To sit this facility up like cookie cutter resort homes more typical of beach vacation homes would not only be cost cost prohibitive in many instances but most likely disallowed in other instances.

This particular home also sits on top of a garden level unit that an army doctor rents underneath. Up until a few months ago, any movement upstairs could be heard downstairs to such an extent this tenant of many year's duration was on the verge of moving out. The owner finally installed carpet upstairs so as to cut down on the noise downstairs which has eliminated the noise problem downstairs.

According to my conversation with the doctor tenant last week, she will not be moving to another location as the noise problem from above has now been rectified so as to sound proof it to normal foot traffic.

The above is a prime, prime example of "living like a local" when you rent a Savannah Vacation Rental from Savannah Getaways. These issues pop up all over the historic district. .

      Girls Cousin reunion

Left on 06/15/2011 for a stay in May 2011

The house was perfect for us. Nicely decorated. Very quiet, safe neighborhood. Had plenty of space for 5 adults, close to the RiverFront, a block away from the historical cemetery, several blocks away from Forsyth Park where they have their Saturday Farmers market, shopping and restaurant. No car is needed is you stay here. There is a small plaza across the field from the house that had great pizza...screamin mimi's plus a busy sushi/Thai/Japanese restuarant. Had a great view of Crawford Square. Took one of the evening Hearse ghost tours...loved it! They picked us up at the house. Great place to stay...will recommend. Thanks it really made our reunion even better.

Great place. Being on lovely Crawford Square, with its gazebo and live oaks, was a joy, as was the small but comfortable, tree-shaded back balcony. The two bedrooms are great; the loft is warm and has no adjoining bathroom. But there are two and a half baths, so there was no problem with access for four female friends. The complete kitchen enabled us to have a quick breakfast before taking off each day as well as wine and snacks in the evening. No grocery store close, but plenty to see within walking distance. Good pizza place around the corner, and excellent restaurant (Cha Bella) within walking distance.

      Our annual trip to Savannah

Left on 08/26/2010 for a stay in August 2010

The house was great overall. Only one little problem at all. We love to be on the deck in the mornings and evenings but unfortunately the deck is right over the air conditioner units for this house and the house next door. I'm guessing that nothing could really be done about the noise and heat from the units though! Other than that, the house was great! I loved the artwork throughout and as I am an artist, I enjoyed the fact that there was a long table behind the couch where I could paint (and judging from the paint spots from previous painters, someone else enjoyed it, too!...which made me feel right at home!). The house is in a good location, just a few blocks from River Street, and the area is nice and quiet. Savannah Getaways is such a great agency, we have stayed with them for 5 or 6 years now and I trust aubrey to always find me the perfect vacation house.

My husband and I stayed with our young children and my parents and we all had plenty of room. Nice to visit a historic city but have modern amentities. We enjoyed our stay and thought this townhouse offered much more space for about the same price as a hotel.

      Easter in Savannah

Left on 05/12/2010 for a stay in April 2010

Wonderful stay! This place was a great haven for my family of 6 plus my parents. We came to Savannah to visit our son at SCAD. It was a little bit of a bike trip for him to get here from his dorm, but very doable. The home was not directly on any of the attraction streets, but close enough. We walked to Forsyth Park and Broughton street, but it was a beautiful, cool Spring Day. We needed to drive to First Presbyterian Church for Easter Services. The view of the park out of the windows was beautiful. My only suggestion...the upstairs loft was a little warm with 4 kids sleeping in it. Thanks!

      Oh So Savannah

Left on 04/13/2010 for a stay in March 2010

We loved our stay in vacation home 281. We really got the feel of the quaintness of the city while staying in a lovely home. Loved seeing and hearing the horse drawn carriages go by our windows at night. Woke up in the master bedroom and felt like we were in a big spanish moss tree...very beautiful. Loved the view of the square across the street...beaufitul gazebo with blooming flowers...just perfect. Hidden away near the square is a basketball court. Next time we will bring a basketball for my 8 year old son. The house itself provided all the amenities we needed and was described accurately by Savannah Getaways and reviews. It was actually cheaper than a hotel and we really got the feel of Savannah.

The location to us was perfect. We prefer being in more of a residential area away from the hustle and bustle of busy streets (like Bay Street) but not too far out that we can not walk to things. This location was great. Oglethorpe tours picked us up at the Cathedral...which was about a 7 minute walk..so it was just perfect for us.

There was a cat that appeared on the deck to peek in the living room window everyday. It did not bother us...but we did notice that someone feeds it as there was some food near the deck. Just thought I would mention in case you like / do not like cats. I am allergic to cats...but had no problem as this cat was just curious and was not looking for a whole lot of attention.

As we were leaving we realized that there is a fresh food market one block away...hmmm...maybe next time!

Savannah Getaways was very professional and trusting. Got our deposit check one week after our stay as indicated. Very reliable. We did all of our transactions via email with no problems. Would definately recommend to others.

      Quiet and roomy

Left on 02/05/2010 for a stay in January 2010

We really enjoyed our stay in the home. It was very convenient to everything
and was very roomy and quiet. It was my sisters first time to Savannah and she
loved it. She was able to have own room and bathroom which really added to
the whole Savannah Getaway for her. We were there at the end of Dec. till after
the first of January so the weather was rather cold. The only complaint I would
have on the home was that they really need a ceiling fan upstairs. It got hot
and stuffy with the heat on and it would have really been nice to be able to run
a ceiling fan since heat travels up but, that was all. I would recommend this
home to anyone and would stay again.

      Great Place to Stay

Left on 10/27/2009 for a stay in September 2009

I would definitely recommend staying here. We went for a bachelorette trip and the house was perfect for our girls weekend getaway. It was in a location that we were able to walk to places to eat and go out on Friday. Unfortunately, it rained the rest of the weekend so we stayed in the house most of the weekend. It was comfortable with plenty of room for all of us to relax and hang out.

Great Location - Perfect for a Family

Left on 04/29/2009 for a stay in April 2009

Our family of seven (my husband and I, our three teenage sons and my parents) just spent four days over the Easter holiday in lovely Savannah at this wonderful house. The location was beautiful and very convenient. Right across the street from the house was Crawford Square which was a lovely view to wake up to every morning in this quiet neighborhood. The house was spacious and clean with three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths and gave everyone the opportunity to spread out. We found it an easy walk or drive to get just about anywhere in Savannah. The furnishings were comfortable with plenty of seating for a large family.

I have two suggestions I would make: 1. The kitchen needs to be better equipped with utensils (very few spoons) and dishes (no bowls), and 2. There needs to be a ceiling fan installed in the third floor loft room. The weather was very warm the four days we were there. The central air conditioning was not working properly so the second and third floors became quite uncomfortable. The third floor loft room had no fan at all. After my husband tried to get the air conditioning going several times, we put a call into the rental agency to let them know of the problem. Almost immediately, we received a phone call from the owner who tried to troubleshoot over the phone with my husband. He then made the decision to contact his handyman who arrived on Easter Sunday morning to fix the air conditioning. We were very appreciative of the responsiveness.

Other than these two suggestions, we thought the house met our needs perfectly and we would definitely rent this property again. We loved Savannah and look forward to exploring it further on a future trip.
