GlasgowFantastic holiday in the alps!

We have just returned from a week's holiday at Chalet Sara Marie and we had a fantastic time. Jess and Jono were great hosts - both very friendly and Jono's cooking was amazing. The chalet was lovely - really clean and welcoming and always cosy especially with the central log fire which Jono lit every night. Garrett and Rhian from Silver Lining Chalets were always on hand to make sure we had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. The chalet is only approx. 150m from the lift which takes you into Les Menuires which then opens up the whole of the 3 Valleys area for great skiing. We would definitely recommend this chalet and look forward to returning soon.

The positives about this chalet far outweighed the negatives - important to get that bit out there first but I will review both just to get a fair balance.
Positives first - the chalet staff are lovely and brilliant hosts. Garrett was brilliant dropping us off to our lessons every morning and offering some great advice. Jono is an absolutely amazing cook and kept us well fed morning, noon and night. Jess was equally lovely and made some wonderful cakes, kept the chalet clean etc. The staff definitely made the stay.
The chalet is warm and comfortable, nicely decorated and very well equipped.
Now for the slight negatives - there is very little sound proofing in the chalet so take earplugs, particularly if you are in a big group with rowdy boys!
The hot tub and sauna are both fab and saved a lot of aches and pains but the hot tub does cool down quite quickly so get in quick!
The restaurant/bar next door was recommended to us by the chalet staff for their night off. We went there at the same time as another large group from another chalet and the restaurant couldn't cope. The service was appalling and not all of us ate because the wait was so long. We were told that this was unusual but I would not be recommending it to anyone.
The chalet is located about 10 mins ski/30 min walk from the main resort of Les Menuires. It is an easy ski down and you can get to within 100 yards of your door but it is not lit so if there is no moonlight, make sure you leave apres-ski before nightfall.
Overall the stay was brilliant despite the negatives. It was very quiet in the village which is great if you want peace (apart from the internal noise mentioned above!) but not so good if you want to be out partying until all hours and then an easy walk home. -

Clean, comfortable chalet with fantastic chalet staff and excellent food.
Bedrooms small but adequate. Not enough sofa seating for all 16 guests to sit and chat together although dining chairs can be used.
Hot tub, sauna and boot warmer all in working order(unlike other chalets we have stayed in!)
Close to lift into Les Menuires and ski hire shop only 20 yards away
Took advantage of Garret's airport transfers which were competitively priced and efficient.

I don't usually write reviews on sites such as this but felt that the value offered by Garrett and Rhian (a.k.a. Silver Lining Chalets) on our trip was of such a standard that it warranted this review. The information given up front and the effort that was put in to make our holiday as informed and enjoyable as possible was amazing - Garrett and Rhian are very laid back but also very efficient which are a rare and refreshing combination of qualities in this business from my experience! The chalet was immaculate with great food and was well placed for skiing and also the local restaurant/pub. The addition of the offer of a packed lunch at a very reasonable price was great and we took Garrett up on his offer of ski-guiding us round the slopes for a day which helped us get our bearings for the rest of the week. All in all we had a wonderful time and will most definately be back next year - highly recommended!

We arrived in a blizzard and were greeted with canapes and champagne and a roaring log fire. What a delighful way to begin our holiday. From then on we were spoiled and pampered with fantastic food, both at breakfast and dinner, which meant that we had to ski harder to burn off the calories. Nothing was too much trouble either for the chalet hosts or Garrett and Rhian, the owners, who made sure we had everything we needed. Our ski passes were waiting for us on arrival and the ski lessons booked for the children. In fact other than ski there was nothing for us to do! The children were occupied all day in ski school and then too tired at night to bother. Perfect!
Garret showed us some excellent skiing areas and also knew of great restaurants, where we could sample some good local cuisine to add to our already expanding waistlines!
There is nothing quite like coming back to a cosy warm chalet and climbing into a lovely hot tub with a glass or two of wine and relaxing from a good days skiing.
It was also nice to be a little bit out of the main town, but only two minutes walk from the lift, or a great ski back down in the afternoon.
I think this was one of the best holidays we have had and we have already booked for next season. So watch out Bettaix, we'll be back!! -

If your looking for a warm, friendly, comfortable and cosy stay, this is the place to go. The chalet felt like home and the food was better than home. The staff were warm and welcoming and only too happy to help. The cooked breakfast was a great way to start the day and just what you need for a day on the slopes. The lift was literally a 2 min walk from the door and dropped us in resort, if we had lessons Garrett or Rhi were on hand to make sure we weren't late! After a day in the slopes there was homecooked cakes and tea waiting or a beer in the hot tub to soak away those aches and pains just fabulous. If you are looking for more heat the sauna was also great. The evening meal each night was well presented and tasted great you were definatley always full and then you could just enjoy chilling out in the sumptious lounge with open fire place. No problem was too small to be dealt with and the rooms are spotless. If you want to ski, relax and be well looked after then this is the place to go. We have already booked again for next season. Can't wait!
