Vallorcine is a traditional Savoyard village, made up of tiny hamlets which cling to the mountainside at the edge of the Mont Blanc region, nestling in an spectacular natural setting on the doorstep of the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve, with its valleys and forests. It is just 17km and yet a million miles away from the famous and busy resort of Chamonix.

The Télécabine de Vallorcine cable car takes you up the moun...tain from the village (1260m) to the Domaine de Balme ski area, at an altitude of 2270m. From the Tete de Balme at the summit, you have a clear descent of 1000m unspoilt and beautiful country, taking in open snow fields, with stunning panoramas of the Mont Blanc mountain range, the Swiss alps and the spectacular Emosson dam, as well as forests and narrow tracks as you make your descent back to the village of Vallorcine. The resort has 19 maintained alpine ski pistes (11 blue, 7 red and 1 black) and 5km of cross-country track. There is also a pisted walking track along the Eau noir from Buet to the village.

L'Ours Bleu is a luxurious 4* residence with an indoor, heated swimming pool, in a convenient location at the foot of the pistes and right beside the cable car. Built in traditional alpine style, the residence blends well with its surroundings and provides comfortable, tastefully furnished accommodation. Guests have free access to the swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam bath and fitness suite. For your convenience, there is a butchers shop, a bar with bead delivery just 300m from the residence, The nearest supermarket is 6.4km away in Argentière.

The 1 bedroom apartment for 4 people measures approximately 40m².

There is a double sofa bed in the living area and 1 bedroom with twin beds. Bed linen and towels are provided free of charge but beds are not made up prior to your arrival. The kitchenette adjoining the living area is fully equipped with ceramic hobs, a table top fridge, a microwave/grill and a dishwasher. There is a bathroom and WC. A television and DVD player are provided and wi-fi internet access is available in the apartments upon payment of a supplement. The residence has a laundry with coin operated washing machines and there one parking space per apartment provided free of charge outside the residence.

If you would like to take a break from self- catering, meals can be provided in the residence for the whole of your stay. There are two formulae available either half board which includes breakfast and evening meal or simply evening meal. For details of prices see Practical information.
