Description from the owner

Bula Vista a new vacation and holiday rental in Savusavu, Vanua Levu in Fiji. This area is in the Northern Division and is known as the Hidden Paradise as it is virtually unexplored and incredibly beautiful. Experience the beauty of this practically untouched area, which is, none the less fully serviced, with yacht club, marina, markets, banks, supermarkets, phone and internet coverage. Our vacation home had been built out of a renovated and customized 20' shipping container and features a wrap around deck, quality finishings in the beautifully tiled shower, toilet and outdoor kitchen area. Additional Location Information

We are based on a hill above the picturesque town of Savusavu overlooking the stunningly beautiful Savusavu Harbour on Vanua Levu, considered by NBC to be one of the top 5 islands in the world to live on. The area we are in is called Navaqiqi and lies just south of town on the ridge between the harbour and the Koro Sea. We get a wonderful sea breeze most days, cooling our home. We are not a sanitized resort, we are not on the beach, but we do have great outdoor living and a spectacular view and we are very close to all the amenities in the lovely town of Savusavu.
Our 3/4-acre section has had the benefit of 8 years developing the tropical garden and we are screened from the neighbours with a clear view over the harbour. Our neighbourhood is a friendly local mix of families, couples, expats, Fijians, and Indo-Fijians.
Savusavu has numerous activities including some of the best snorkelling and diving in the Pacific, swimming, sailing, fishing, boating, golf, spas, pearl farm visits, kayaking, biking, bush and waterfall walks, bird watching, shopping, eating and drinking.
To get to Savusavu there are a number of options – sail here on a yacht (Savusavu has customs clearance and we get over 300 yachts a years coming through), fly to Nadi in Viti Levu and then take a smaller plane to Savusavu (1 hour), take a ferry (12 hours – cabin or seating) from Suva or Lautoka (a town a short bus ride north of Nadi), or fly into Labasa on the other side of the island and take a 1.5 hour taxi ride ($75-90FJD) to Savusavu or bus (much cheaper). Whichever way you chose it will be an adventure! However you arrive, let us know and we will meet you on your arrival with a taxi up to Bula Vista and a cool drink waiting for you!
The temperature year round ranges from about 24-30 degrees Celsius (75-85 degrees Fahrenheit). We have tank water - 15,000 litres and town water as a back up. All the water is triple filtered and very drinkable. We are a 7-10 minute walk down hill into Savusavu and a 3-4 minute taxi ride back up the hill - $3-3.50FJD. The local open air market and supermarkets have a great range of fresh produce and things like olive oil and wasabi are easy to get a the MH Premium Supermarket. Sally runs a liquor store with a wide range of wine, beer and spirits as well as specialty foods.

Get a real taste of Fiji

Unique and comfortable accomodation, great outdoor kitchen and dining area set in tropical gardens with views to die for. Just the place to cook, chill and relax. It was just a 10 minute walk into the vibrant harbourside market town that has everything you need including fabulous fresh food market and harbourside resturants. One of my highlights was having a fresh fish curry washed down with a Fiji Bitter for lunch on the wharf overlooking the visiting yachts. This is for those who want to get away from usual santitised Pacific holiday

      Unique property in Savusavu Heights

Left on 03/14/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We are in our 60's and this was our second trip to Vanua Leu. We chose this property because we wanted to be close in to Savusavu (and to tell our friends we stayed in a shipping container :-) Liz was very easy to contact and to deal with. We appreciated her flexibility in letting us come back for a few extra nights without much notice. We were pleased with our whole stay, from getting picked up at the airport to the layout of the place. Even in rainy weather we were very comfortable. Except that the driveway to the house can become muddy but it didn't pose a big problem, unless it's at night and you aren't aware of the concrete stairs to the main road. We enjoyed the view of town and the ferry dock and the landscaping. It was great to pep up our drinks with fresh picked limes and lemons. We would definitely recommend it!

Liz and Kevin are gracious hosts and cater to their guests' without offering full service. The view is spectacular, the container cabin comfy and simple, the grounds beautiful, and the local flair and flavor present.
What a pleasure staying at this wonderful place and relaxing Fiji-style.

      Beautiful Fiji

Left on 07/16/2012 for a stay in July 2011

Savu Savu is worth the extra distance and effort it takes to get there, like most places off the beaten track, you have to be up for the journey. If you are this type of traveller, you will enjoy a typical piece of the islands, with great views, a walk down to the town and water front, and some unique accommodation.
