Saint Louis, MOBeautiful home for large groups!
Left on 08/05/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This home was exceptional for a rental property. Every detail was first class -from the kind welcome note and basket to the Housecleaning starter kit. We had ages 18 months - 74 years old and every member of the group was comfortable.
It is not easy to walk to the beach from the house. It can be done - but with our large group - we always had at least one car at the beach for towels, toys, chairs, etc.
We will definitely rent here again! -

Champaign, ILDoesn't get any better than this!
Left on 07/26/2010 for a stay in June 2010
This was the second year that my family and I stayed in this lovely home. The owners provided extra little amenities that made the home even more special (a cute welcome basket, plenty of beach towels, suntan lotion & bug spray by the back door, aloe vera in the bathroom, little red wagon in the garage, etc..)
We stayed here with my extended family (6 kids and 10 adults) and there was more than enough room for everyone.
The kitchen is totally stocked. Extras include: blender, crock pot, full cook ware, table service, spices, linens, etc. Joy has really paid attention to the details while furnishing her home and it definitely shows.
The family room features a comfy sectional and big screen tv with movies, books, magazines, and board games. The unfinished basement was nice for the kids to go down and let off steam playing foosball and air hockey.
Besides the great amenities, this home is spotless. I didn't see a speck of dirt anywhere, and the furnishings are very tastefully done and accent the lakefront surroundings. The location is great. You can walk to the beach over the dunes, although it might be a bit of a hike for young children. The drive is much easier - just 5 minutes up the road to Warren Dunes State Park.
Overall, I can't say enough about this home. My family and I loved it and we made memories that will stay with us forever. Thanks so much Joy & Chet! We'll hopefully be back soon! -

Left on 07/15/2010 for a stay in June 2010
Dunehaven is a special place to gather with generations of family, offering so many extra amenities and space to spread out. Together with it's close location to the lake, completely stocked kitchen and various restaurants and shops, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The children loved playing in the basement and upstairs playroom. We spent much time on the screened porch as well. An a+ home!

Chicago, IllinoisUnforgettable Getaway at Dunehaven
Left on 01/03/2010 for a stay in November 2009
My wife and I live in Chicago, and we rented out Dunehaven for a weekend with some other members of our family. Who knew you could find such a tranquil location less than an hour and a half from downtown Chicago!? We all had a simply unforgettable experience at Dunehaven and can't wait to go back!
From the very beginning of our search, "Dunehaven Joy" was an impecable hostess. Joy was very responsive to our numerous questions, always forthcoming with great ideas for things to do in the area and even put together a personalized guest basket full of goodies when we arrived. Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty! From the guest basket to the other numerous personal touches in the house, it felt like HOME from the moment we walked in the door. Dunehaven, altough it is a very large home with tons of space, felt cozy and immediately drew us in...
We loved the great room, the HUGE kitchen, the master bedroom and bathroom, the numerous hiking trails just beyond the backyard, the fire pit and fire place, the big front yard for throwing the football, and the screened in porch that was perfect for playing cards. The thing we liked least was leaving...Thanks, Joy, for an unforgettable getaway! We CAN'T WAIT to return and hope you have the chance to share your beautiful home with many others! -

Moline IllinoisGreat Location & Perfect for Big Families or Groups
Left on 12/24/2009 for a stay in November 2009
The home is well supplied and beautifully decorated. Nice and clean with very comfy beds. It is located just off of Red Arrow Highway with all of it's fun stores, close to numerous wineries, and it's an easy walk to Warren Dunes State Park right on the lake.
We enjoyed the open gathering area around the kitchen and the location. -

Moline, ILCouples retreat weekend
Left on 12/01/2009 for a stay in October 2009
For several years, our family and five others rented large homes in Harbor Country as our kids were growing up and at home. We spent wonderful weeks together making memories at Lake Michigan. Now that our children are grown, the couples still plan frequent retreats together. Our group stayed at Dunehaven in October 2009 and I can honestly say that we have never rented a home this nice in all our years of being together. I only wish that we had stayed here when our kids were along. Dunehaven was built specifically with families in mind. The five bedrooms and sleeping arrangements are perfect for couples or for large groups with various family combinations. There is something for everyone. The other outstanding feature is the quality of this home. Everything about it is top-of-the-line. There are amenities for everyone with three flat screen TV's, internet access, a huge gourmet kitchen, and a large basement that is perfect for kids to play in on a rainy day. The house is fully furnished with everything you could need for a get-away or a week together as a family. The owners of this immaculate home have done all anyone could ask to make this an outstanding value in a rental property. I would like to be able to make some suggestions to help the owners improve this property, but I am a loss as to what to tell them except..."keep up the good work!" We have stayed in several rental homes like this one, but none compare. We also liked being able to walk directly from the back yard into Warren Dunes State Park. In just a few minutes we were able to walk to see the sunset or be at the lovely public beach. In case you cannot tell by now, our group had a wonderful weekend together at Dunehaven and we hated to leave. I am very confident that we will return with our families and will tell everyone we can about this outstanding property. If you like Harbor Country or have ever considered renting a home like this one, you will not be disappointed by Dunehaven.

Minneapolis, MNBeautiful, spacious, adventure-filled house :)
Left on 12/01/2009 for a stay in November 2009
I absolutely LOVED my stay at Dunehaven and can't wait to book again. Unfortunately I was only able to stay for 48 hours, but loved every minute of it. The backyard is connected to Warren Dunes State Park...let me just say hiking in the park is such a wonderful adventure (there are creeks to play in, dunes to hike, and fun paths to follow). I would recommend this house to any group looking for a classy, family friendly, and spacious place to stay. The owners were very thoughtful as they had a welcome basket when we arrived and toys for the kids...SO CUTE! I am looking forward to booking a week long stay in the summer as it's so close to the BEAUTIFUL Lake Michiagn...Can't wait!
