San Francisco, CAThe most fabulous vacation ever!
Left on 03/26/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We stayed at Casa Brava to celebrate my sister's 30th birthday, it was just us 4 girls. We had the most amazing time! The house was above and beyond what we had expected. It was literally breathtaking. Every aspect of our stay was fantastic, the house itself, all of it's amenities, the views, the house staff, especially Felipe, who was on hand at the drop of a hat to make sure we had everything we needed. The complementary bottle of tequila and snacks that welcomed us was such a pleasant surprise and made us feel so special, we seriously felt like we were getting the celebrity treatment. We had perma grins the whole week! We ventured into town a few times but always ended up wanting to get back to the house because it was so inclusive. We cooked almost all of our meals there, the views and space made it so relaxing. I wish we could have stayed longer, none of us wanted to leave. I would live at Casa Brava 6 months out of the year if I could but as it is I will have to settle for frequent vacations. We will definitely be back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful house!

Bend, OR, USAGorgeous home design, fantastic views, comfortable living
Left on 02/26/2012 for a stay in February 2012
The four of us had a wonderful time at Casa Brava, from the fantastic views and amazing house, to everything Sayulita has to offer: nice beaches, surf, amazing traditional food, warm friendly people and more. While it was a bit on the "cool" side (still better than the snow where we live), we had fantastic sunsets almost every night and managed to heat up enough for a few dips in the infinity pool. Felipe was super helpful and friendly (we didn't seem to need much though as everything is well designed and thought out) and arely cooked us some incredible food (would hire her again in a heartbeat). Thanks Dale-your place is amazing!

Left on 01/30/2012 for a stay in January 2012
This house is fantastic - the views make you feel like you're on top of the world! Each bedroom and bath offers great privacy, yet the main living room and kitchen that opens up to the main pool is perfect for communal dinners, partying and bonding with your fellow vacationers. The stereo system throughout is also a great unifier. While you're a quick walk to town, you will rarely want to leave this fabulous house. The only thing I would recommend to facilitate a better stay here is to bring ear plugs for sleeping. The roosters and dogs go almost all night and it's very noisy. (This is not an issue with the house, but with the areas surrounding Sayulita.) enjoy!

New York, NYBeautiful home, Amazing views, and Charming town
Left on 01/16/2012 for a stay in December 2011
This is my 3rd time staying here and its because the house and pool is truly amazing (even better than the photos), the owners really care, and the views are stellar. I also really appreciate being away from the riff raff of all the big resort tourists as this town truly shows you a more authentic side of Mexico. It is true that Sayulita has gotten more popular with tourist and business, but not that much has really changed (yet) from the first time I came over 7 years ago. Prices are very very reasonable, service is so friendly everywhere, and the town is so charming with good shopping finds and amazing food. We hardly wanted to leave the house, but when we did there was much to do and see. I highly recommend renting a car and visiting San Pancho as well as Punta Mita. Definitely try whale watching and just enjoying as much as you can in the surrounding areas. Lastly if you get a chance to catch the tamale lady on the beach or the square, then get a tamale (or a few) and enjoy it with her homemade salsa! They are so amazing and this last visit I had a hard time finding her..once we did she was sadly sold out. I also heard the churros are really good as well. Another recommendation is bringing ear plugs..as much as I lovvve this house the town does echo incredible noise from roosters and barking dogs all night and the house doesnt quite keep those noises out well. I am not that sensitive of a sleeper (and can sleep through most anything in NYC) but these sounds are tough to ignore so I did have a hard time sleeping this last visit. Other than that the owners along with their "go to guy", Felipe, will make sure you are well taken care of. Highly recommend and do plan to return again!

my husband and i couldn't have asked for a better stay. it was our first trip to sayulita, and we were spoiled rotten spending our honeymoon at casa brava.
the first night of our arrival, we got in much later than expected due to a delayed flight. dale had some amazing chicken, tortillas, and a bottle of tequila waiting for us. that really set us up for an incredible getaway! we wholeheartedly recommend casa brava for a couple who wants to go all out...or even better to share the house and the amazing pool with a couple of friends. that's what we hope to do next time :) -

Could not have even dreamed up a more perfect honeymoon. Dale and the entire Casa Brava family are the most gracious hosts. Incredible hospitality amidst one of the most impressive and intelligently designed homes I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Waking up to the expansive jungle views over Sayulita's bays, sipping a margarita from one of the perfectly situated hammocks as the sun sets...unforgettable memories. We began plotting a return Casa Brava on the plane ride home.

Vancouver BCThe romantic retreat that I had hoped for
Left on 09/27/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Our stay was absolutely wonderful. We woke up every morning for an early morning dip in the pool before making a hearty breakfast of eggs and fresh fruit in the lovely open kitchen. The view from our room (guesthouse)was amazing with the pool overlooking the quaint Sayulita town. The aC was a welcome relief at night and the hammock a lovely place to read during the day. The hill walk up is a bit steep but a good way to get a little work out on the vacation :)
The owner was extremely helpful and Felipe who manages the place was awesome. He was available for everything that was needed.
I will definitely be staying at Casa Brava the next time that I return and hopefully bring a few other couples to rent out the entire house.
The price was awesome (especially during the off season) and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. If you do not stay here you are missing out!! -

Left on 08/07/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We just got back from a fabulous week stay at Casa Brava, and were so happy and comfortable there. This house is amazing, to say the least! We brought our 8 and 10 year old, and their favorite part (and ours!) was the incredible saltwater pool. We were in it from the earliest daylight till the sun went down! Felipe and his wife were the sweetest, most caring people. Felipe brought us mangos from his yard, helped suggest markets to visit, and pointed out interesting animals around. Couldn't have a better caretaker anywhere! He even filled some of the cobblestone road at the bottom of the hill that had been washed out. He goes beyond his scope of the job to make the stay enjoyable. The views were breathtaking from every vantage point. The lightning storms at night (August) were incredible. We could see the house from the beach, and it is so stunningly impressive from below! We were certain that we picked the best place in all of Sayulita (and Vallarta!). We cooked everyday, and loved the stocked kitchen. The wi-fi made it easy to connect with the world to upload photos, etc. We had a car for the week, and used it to go up the coast and to Puerto Vallarta, but didn't need it to go into town. We already recommended it to our row on the airplane, and anyone we come across who wants to live in understated luxury. The owners are caring and helpful, and were able to reach if we needed anything. Thank you Dale and Christopher for sharing your home with us! We love it so much, and every detail of the home was perfect. Already planning a return trip for next time!

Casa Brava is an amazing place to while away a week. We arrived very late to PVR, but Felipe was coming up the lane just as we got to Sayulita at 1 in the morning, so it was all perfect. That's representative of the care taken in making you feel welcome.
A bottle of tequila awaited us, and we were thrilled to step out into the light of the house in the morning. Spent most of the week with the doors wide open, staring out at the sea and enjoying the breeze.
We love to cook, so it was great to have our own kitchen. We stocked the fridge from the Mega supermarket 15 minutes up the road. One night, we hired a chef (Arely) recommended by the owners, to come over and cook a meal for what turned out to be 7 people. It was amazing! There was a BBQ grill, which we took advantage of.
We didn't spend a lot of time in the dipping pool, but it was great to have when we were really hot. Same for Wi-Fi (not the hot, but the sometimes use).
My favorite thing - the shower. It's fantastic. Stone floor to massage your tired feet, perfect water pressure, makes those hot Sayulita days tolerable.
We did find ourselves driving to town most of the time, since it's a long walk on a hot day. But really easy enough. Just not as close as many other rentals.
Casa Brava - super duper.

What an amazing house this is! Every inch of this house is just perfectly designed to make the most of the natural beauty and gorgeous views surrounding this place. The beds are the best I have slept on in years and of course the pool is simply fabulous to laze in and watch the sun go down over the bay in the evenings. This place is one of my new fave holiday spots!

Left on 03/04/2011 for a stay in February 2011
We just returned from a perfect stay at Casa Brava, an architecturally amazing home situated on a hilltop with an expansive view of Sayulita and the Pacific Ocean. We stayed in the guest unit but house manager Felipe (a very handy guy whose English is fantastic) gave us a tour of the other units, and all are spectacular (but do try for one of the units with a hammock and pool!). We enjoyed relaxing around the house, taking advantage of the well-stocked kitchen to make margaritas, and lolling around on the hammock reading books from the library.
Dale was a fantastic host and guide who made the whole process of booking and staying so easy, and his dining and activity suggestions were spot-on (especially his insider knowledge of some of the less-popular beaches).
Do remember to pack a flashlight, as the house is atop an unlit street and you'll want something to light your way on your nighttime walks home, and light sleepers may want to pack earplugs, as there are some roosters nearby that like to wake you up (they make a great alarm clock though - I love them!) -

Portland, OR.June vacation in Sayulita
Left on 09/28/2010 for a stay in June 2010
We had an amazing time on our trip to Sayulita, which was primarily due to the absolutely stunning setting and amenities at Casa Brava. The house was extremely liveable and comfortable, with really clean, yet dramatic lines and simple beauty. Every room has a view and optimizes the outdoors and the stunning natural surroundings of the Pacific coastline. The house staff was very accomodating and resourceful when we had questions or needed a hand. We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely return to this peaceful, beautiful place.

San FranciscoCasa Brava = Bravo!
Left on 08/09/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Our recent stay at Casa Brava in Sayulita proved to be the vacation that vacations should always be. We were shocked to find the house much better than the photos showed, we were well looked after (thanks to both Felipe and his wife!) and we relaxed to the max. In the past we needed a vacation to get over our vacation but this time the only problem was that we didn't want to leave. Fyi, summers are very hot in Mexico and some days several of us opted not to go surfing but having hundreds of Dvds to watch let us be lazy and very happy. A big margarita, a bowl of chips and guacamole and some good films...that's a vacation for me!
The other reviews are pretty much spot on. The house and views are amazing. The pool is hard to leave. The owners arranged for a cook 2 nights and we ate leftovers for days. Not sure if I'll back to Sayulita during the summer heat but we'll definitely come back to Casa Brava soon. -

As a mother traveling alone to Mexico with her 8 year old son, I was apprehensive to say the least. Looking back, we are thankful for choosing our stay here after some initial questions. Quelling my concerns from the start, Dale and Christopher took it upon themselves to greet us at the airport. To add to this pleasant surprise, they made my son feel even more comfortable by bringing along their kid friendly dog, Rio. Our stay at Casa Brava made our vacation what vacations should really be all about -- simple rest and relaxation. The accommodations matched against any 5 star Hotel and made for a stellar and enjoyable stay. The home is situated on top of a hill with terrific views of the ocean and the town Sayulita. Every modern convenience and amenity juxtaposed with the tranquility and pace of the quaint town of Sayulita make this a special destination place for anyone seeking a trip to Mexico. We rarely traveled into town and spent most of our days hiking and playing on the beach with Rio, collecting unusual shells and rocks, lying in the hammock reading books/magazines poolside and admiring the architectural details of the property. If you do manage to leave and get to town, have Dale take you to see the Iguana tree, order the best egg sandwich you'll ever eat, and you must discover the popsicle store for their watermelon masterpieces. All worth checking out.
Upon leaving, we realized our only regrets were not being quick enough to have secured the "same time next year" week and that we couldn't take Rio home with us. If you get the chance to travel to Sayulita, you should do whatever you need to do to get in & do not miss the opportunity to stay at Casa Brava.

San Francisco, Californiaunusual modern home in a traditional fishing village
Left on 01/31/2010 for a stay in February 2008
I have been to Sayulita several times in the last few years. Prior to my last visit in February 2008 I had always stayed in what I would call a more typical Mexican vacation home, thatched roofs, glazed tiles, and Mexican kitsch. And although those homes sufficed they simply cannot compare to Casa Brava. The house is situated atop a fairly steep hill, and although that made for a slog after several margaritas in the village, it was worth it for the incredible views, both of the ocean and the interior jungles. There just are not many homes like Casa Brava in Sayulita, it is large, modern, and very inviting. There is a great deal of glass facing the ocean and a large outdoor area around a pool that the interior of the house opens onto. With all the doors open I felt as if I were living outdoors the entire time and truth be told I enjoyed the pool and patios so much that I spent a great deal of time out of doors. The kitchen was functional, the bathrooms extremely nice, especially the onyx bathroom, and the main living area very large. The entire house is light filled and very airy and the furnishings are modern and tasteful. I had no problems booking my stay and the in house gardener and handyman Phillipe was available and helpful. In short my stay at Casa Brava was excellent and I would not hesitate to stay there again, in fact after experiencing modern luxury I do not think I could stay anywhere else in Sayulita, especially as the price was comparable to most other rentals.

Our stay in Sayulita was fantastic and Casa Brava made it so. We loved lounging in/by the pool the entire day with music playing through the whole-house stereo system and the mixings for margaritas so close at hand.
I am a huge advocate of swimming in the ocean and could never understand why travelers would go somewhere then never enter the water, but I'm sure you know how nice it is just to float in the pool and take in the amazing scenery down below.
Evenings we walked into the town proper for dinner and were never disappointed with the wonderful food or the ever present friendliness of the Sayulitans. Walking the hill back up to the house was a great way to work off dinner, as well-- after the first night we learned to pick up a few pieces of cake or pie from the pie seller and bring it with us to enjoy with coffee at night.
It has been a newish tradition to take a trip each year with my mother since my father passed away; last year we went to Seaside, Florida (a completely different experience) and she didn't quite know what to expect when the opportunity to stay at Casa Brava collided with an unexpected opening in both our schedules. To say that she was hesitant to travel to Mexico is an understatement. To say that she hasn't stopped talking favorably about Sayulita since is the reality-- it completely changed her view.
The only regret we have is that my brother and his wife were unable to join us; we sincerely hope that Casa Brava will be available the next time we travel as the space would be just perfect for a mini family reunion.
You truly thought of everything and I can't recommend that you change a thing; Felipe and his wife were unobtrusive and wonderfully helpful and the amenities were fantastic (including the Smeg cooker, a favorite of ours since spending time with family yearly in Glasgow, Scotland) and fresh cut flowers.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much! -

Highly recommended!! We stayed at Casa Brava in October to celebrate my (very youngish) mother's 80th birthday and had a fantastic time! We rented the upper unit only for the 4 of us and it was just perfect.... well-equippped, comfortable, spacious, stylish and plenty of room for everyone. The house is much more beautiful than you can even imagine from the photos! And don't get me started on the pool! We lounged there every day, staring at the beautiful panoramic view of the ocean and the town below. Sayulita is a charming Mexican town with great beaches and shopping and restaurants. It's off the beaten path enough to feel like a discovery yet even the biggest gringo will feel comfortable and at home there. This house is an architectural and artistic dream. If you want a relaxing, peaceful place to stay with plenty of room to entertain, kick back and enjoy the Mexican sunsets.... this is it!

We just spent the holidays at Casa Brava and it was quite possibly the best Christmas ever. I have traveled all over and Sayulita was amazing and Casa Brava made the trip a success. The owners were an absolute pleasure to deal with and the house staff could not have been more accommodating. The house itself is an architectural masterpiece, extremely modern and comfortable. All of the amenities that you would need are there, and then some. Even the most particular travelers will find the house to be equipped with everything they need. We had such an amazing time and we will definitely be back to Sayulita and Casa Brava VERY SOON. It was so much fun and so relaxing and we will cherish the memories of this trip forever.

From the start of this experience, we knew we were going to have an amazing time. Not only was the booking process and additional information easy to understand, we knew what to expect (roosters in the morning!) and Dale was happy to source further information when requested. And wow! what a beautiful home. On arrival we were greeted at hot Puerto Vallarta airport, driver waiting, cold cerveza's in the console and comfortably driven to Sayulita. Filipe was waiting to show us around the house and the ins and outs to make our stay comfortable. Straight away we dived into the divine infinity pool, and that is where we stayed!! Dragging ourself from the house, we ventured down the steep hill (via golf cart we hired) into a great little town, with super burritos and fish tacos, friendly locals and good shopping. We would always retreat back to the house for the sublime sunsets, viewed from the rooftop, and another late night swim. We shared the house with another couple, and there is easily enough privacy and space for all. The downstairs bedroom is definately smaller, with a bathroom, and adjoins the main living area and has a/c. The upstairs is larger and more elaborate, 2 decks and hammock, bathroom, walk in robe. The facilities and house contents are sufficient for your stay-and we highly recommend Filipe's wife's cooking-thankyou Dale. We were in Sayulita for a wedding-but we would recommend the house and town for a vacation.

The photos on the website are mere teasers, the property is a modern bohemian Babylon overlooking one of the most charming towns I have had the pleasure of vacationing to. A quaint surfing village with great aesthetics in combination with the architecture of the house is a dream for the design conscious. The owners are gracious off-site hosts and the communication throughout was easy, efficient and so helpful!
