I stayed at Casa Quetzal and had a magnificent time there, very close to the pitoresque and charming village of Sayulita.
The house itself was a treat to live in. Authentic ambiance. Decorated in a simple, but charming way. Neither too many things, nor too few. There is everything you need. I especially enjoyed the charming kitchen. In general lots and lots of light coming in through the many windows of the whole house.
Great pool and pool area! Incredible relaxing place to watch time go by, in between trips to the beach or horseback riding along the Pacific Coast.
My most favorite place was the roof terrace. The view is amazing! You wont find a better spot to watch the sun set.
Service was good, everything in order and exactly as agreed. The hostess Patrice Maria Baskerville is very professional and kind. The house was clean and well kept.
Casa Quetzal has my most sincere recommendations. I would enjoy to return one day.

I am a little bit surprised by Lynne's comment about Casa Quetzal as I find it far from the truth. I have been at this house two times with my two daughter, the last one September 2012. Each time we really enjoyed our stay. Even though we do not speak the language, the care taker was a wonderful guy who attended to all our needs and added to our enjoyable stay. I know the road is a little bit hilly but not that much difficult to enjoy a slow walk as it is not far from the town and once you arrive at Casa Quetzal the fresh breeze and the tranquil and peaceful environment is priceless and more than compensates. Not to mention the beautiful sunset. we have plans to go back this year. Peter Williams

The road to the house is very bad, torn up streets and very steep.I recommend a 4 wheel drive or large car with plenty of clearance. If you do not speak some Spanish you will find it extremely difficult to communicate with the manager of the house. We only had use of one of the 2 bathrooms upstairs for our entire stay. The toilet was leaking and could not be fixed until we left. It was a major problem so not an easy fix. The house is very nice but not secure. We had a large sum of money stolen from the locked safe in the master bedroom safe which ruined our vacation. The owner gave us the combination which we were told was secure.

Lynne and her friends had the unpleasant experience of having their money stolen. We quickly responded to their call, had the lock smith come immediately to look at the situation. His opinion was that many, guests think they locked the safe, but actually only closed the doors without turning the lock. Also, when he came he found the doors to the house only partially looked, they were not there when he arrived. Any one at all could have entered the house. Even with that information we had wired half of the sum that was taken and had the caretaker bring it to them.
These same guests also left a bill behind from the caterers and their deposit check bounced.
We never had any problems of this sort not before and not after.
We regret deeply that this happened and that the vacation of these people was ruined.
As for the leaking toilet the caretaker asked Lynne and her guests if he should fix it now or wait until they leave, so as not to disturb them and they told him to wait until they left. For the three women there were still two toilets in perfect working order.
These things do happen at times and we take care of it as quickly as we can.
The roads in general are not in good condition, all over Sayulita.

Los AngelesBest Mexico Vacation Ever!
Left on 04/09/2012 for a stay in November 2011
The house was absolutely amazing! The house is located on the hillside, so the view was absolutely breath-taking. When we woke up we were greeted to a 180 degree view of the sky-blue ocean, a gentle breeze, and the sound of the rolling waves. The upstairs area with the living room and kitchen have floor-to-ceiling windowed doors that open to further bring the views and breeze into the house while we enjoyed reading and preparing delicious Mexican meals. The house itself is gorgeous 3-stories, furnished with everything we could ask for during our stay, and even has a rooftop patio with hammocks and our own pool right outside our bedroom doors! The house is a short walk down to the beach and the rest of the Sayulita town, filled with great people, cute shops, and good restaurants/cafes. Overall, our trip was honestly the best vacation we've ever had!
