Lovely place - great for a family or two couples and a wonderful

Left on 05/22/2013 for a stay in May 2013

We stayed at Casa Terramar - the unit with two bedrooms - even though it was just the two of us. The views from the top bedroom (with ensuite bath) are incredible, and the place is away from the centre of town, but not too far. It is a little bit of a walk up the hill, but not inconvenient. The lower floor has a kitchen, sitting area, terrace, bedroom and ensuite bath is so functional. Decorations are very tasteful. We loved chatting with Beth, and the visits from her dog, Ruby.

One word of caution to people who don't like/are scared of big dogs though... Ruby is a marvel and is one of the best behaved dogs I've seen, but there are some other large dogs from the farm on the way up the hill between the main road and the house. Best to carry a flashlight or stick if you are passing them as we had a slight run in with one of them on evening and this can be prevented if you're prepared. Also, for light sleepers, you might want to bring earplugs for the mornings when the roosters/birds/dogs from the farm are doing their morning calls.

There is only one other unit for rent (a one bedroom below) in the whole place, so basically the pool is your own private pool. Great place to simply relax and recharge. Oh, and Beth made sure that there were two cold ones in the fridge of our favourite beer upon arrival. Need I say more?

      Outstanding! Just outstanding!!!

Left on 05/05/2013 for a stay in April 2013

It's hard for me to find anything more so to add to all of the previous wonderful reviews about Beth, Casa Terramar, and Miss Rubi. After reading all the wonderful reviews my husband and I traveled to Sayulita, for our first time, with way high expectations of both Sayulita and Casa Terramar. Many times in the past this has lead to great disappointment. But not at Casa Terramar in Sayulita!!! We had an absolutely wonderful week in Sayulita and can't wait to return. Casa Terramar was everything we hoped for ... a wonderful host who made us feel very at home in Sayulita, a wonderful location just a bit off the beaten path but still very close to the town and beach, a wonderful pool, wonderful comfortable accommodations, and a wonderful dog!!! We've only been home a week and we already want to return ... often!!! Casa Terramar was a wonderful find, as was Sayulita!!

      A little bit of heaven!

Left on 04/14/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Five weeks in Beth's casita at Casa Terramar was a little bit of heaven.

Tastefully furnished, including a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds, the casita was perfect for the two of us. We could spend endless hours on our well-shaded private patio reading, noshing, yakking and drinking margaritas.

And the gorgeous pool surrounded with bougainvillea was just steps away. And since we shared the pool only with visitors in the one other apartment in Casa Terramar, it was really like having one's own private pool.

Beth was the most gracious of hosts, not only in looking after our every need but in recommending good restaurants, informing us of local events and activities, etc. And we both fell in love with her dog, Rubi.

Sayulita itself is a sweet little town..friendly people, beautiful beaches, good restaurants, colourful fiestas, perfect weather. What more could one ask!

A unique location - a great palce to get away from it all

Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Beth was a great host both before and after arrival. She is willing to answer any and all questions.
The Casa is very comfortable and has a unique feel to it. Great views. Unfortunately we did not get the sunsets.
The noise from dogs and roosters and other animals makes ear plugs a good idea if you are alight sleeper..
The pool is great and others have said especially welcome after coming "home" up the hill. The location is very convenient to the town center and the beach.
This would be a great place for a group or large family.

Before our arrival Beth went out of her way to answer all our questions. We found her to be very helpful during our stay, gave good advice & made sure we were well cared for. Casa Terramar was a great place to stay, we loved the pool especially after a day out & about. The view especially from the top floor was very special. The Casa had everything needed for a great vacation. Miss Rubi was a great watchdog, awesome visitor & one to also make us feel at home. This is a wonderfully comfortable Casa with a great hostess & pet dog!

Miss Rubi-we miss you too! Dave in the glorious pool!

      Wonderful stay at Casa Terramar

Left on 01/13/2013 for a stay in December 2012

We spent 5 nights at Casa Terramar and thoroughly enjoyed it. The casa is near the top of a hill but is close to town and the beach. It is quiet there as well, although the locals had some chickens down the road--we didn't mind them though. We saw a lot of bird life in the trees around the house and an iguana suns itself in the tree in front of the casa. The casa is very nice with a good kitchen, plenty of nice utensils and a fridge that keeps things cold. The house is decorated very nicely as well. It had one of the nicest pools in town--one that you can actually swim in and it got lots of sun. Beth, the owner, was great, and is a wonderful host. She helped us out with setting up tours and when I had a bit of a credit card problem. We definitely would stay there again.

      A Perfect Place to Honeymoon!

Left on 01/05/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Every positive review posted here concerning Casa Terramar is true, but there is also something missing. Casa Terramar is not only a great place to stay with your family, alone, or with good friends, it also is a fantastically romantic place to escape with your spouse. My wife and I just returned from an 8 day stay at Casa Terramar for our honeymoon. Every part of it was majestic and memorable.

The view from the top floor is breathtaking. The upstairs bed is a wonderful place to lounge with your partner, read a good novel, or take a siesta overlooking the beautiful pacific. The pool is impeccable and a perfect place to spend the day drinking margaritas and playing dominos. Everything fun to do in Sayulita is just a short walk away yet the house is perfectly nestled above the North beach and away from the busyness of town center. We enjoyed great taco carts, wonderful restaurants, and friendly people every day in town. The north beach is especially beautiful and from there amazing secluded beaches can be had by trekking through the jungle a bit.

In essence, Casa Terramar provides the comfort and relaxation necessary for a romantic getaway, but it also provides adventure, entertainment and a truly authentic Mexican experience. If you're like my wife and I, Casa Terramar strikes the perfect balance-avoiding the resort crowd and cliché experiences, while still providing the beauty, comfort and safety.

To top it all off, Beth is a first class host. She provided us with impeccable guidance and suggestions. She was always available if we had a problem (which we did not). And she was wonderfully friendly, even sharing her adorable pup Ruby with us to enjoy.

A few suggestions from my wife and I visitors:
      • Go fishing with Captain Pablo.
      • Try the taco cart directly across Revolucion from the Casa.
      • Enjoy a fruit smoothie and breakfast at the Tropical House.
      • Grill some fish from the local fish market on the poolside grill.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Casa Terramar in September and had an absolutely amazing time! It was his first time to Mexico and Beth at Casa Terramar couldn't have made the experience better! She has everything ready for you when you arrive, pool & beach towels, beach chairs, book filled with helpful information for where to eat & what to do, wi-fi, and is more than willing to accomodate your needs. Beth has found the perfect balance between exceptional customer service and friendly socializing during a vacation stay, leaving us to our our devices but also being more than willing to go out for a meal and a beer!

Left on 05/02/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Since I live in a ski town, I could not wait to get to Sayulita for some sun and relaxation. Casa Terramar made my vacation absolutely perfect. Myself and five other girlfriends did not even know what time it was for the first three days because we were in absolute heaven. Waking up practically outdoors, breakfast and coffee by the pool, great walk into town and to the beach, and back home for wine on the deck over looking the town and ocean. Life couldn't have been any better, especially with the pool in the mornings and evenings! The food in Sayulita is amazing, the people are unbelievably friendly, and I felt so safe at Casa Terramar. I absolutely recommend this house to a group of friends or a family. Beth is an amazing host and we felt so comfortable in her home, Ruby her dog was a great addition as well! We had the best time and I personally will definitely be back! Thanks Beth!

Villa Casa Terramar was the perfect home away from home for two families, including 3 boys (7-10 years old). The house is exquisite, clean, and offers all of the amenities needed for a comfortable stay in Sayulita. The location is perfect and offers a cultural experience every day walking in to town. You'll love the local dogs, chickens and roosters, they add to the ambiance. Beth is a wonderful host, graciously hands over her home for your use. She offers the best choices in food, beaches and even do grocery shopping for you (which I would highly recommend)!!

Great Service, Fantastic Place and Superb Views!

Left on 03/17/2012 for a stay in February 2012

A friend and myself settled on Sayulita on the advice of another friend for a one week getaway. We discovered Villa Casa Terramar through tripadvisor.ca and right from the get-go, the owner, Beth Reichert, was super-helpful, friendly and organized.

As a couple of rusty travelers, we appreciated the airport pick-up and drop-off service that Beth provides (Sayulita is about 35 or 40 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta airport). As a bonus, we learned a lot about Sayulita from Beth during this time.

The house itself and pool area is in great shape, very clean and comfortable. We didn't cook very much (Sayulita has a lot of great restaurants) but the house has pretty much everything you'd need if you did. The views of the ocean and surrounding countryside from both floors were superb.

Location-wise, we liked how the house was a little removed from the action in the centre of town (a ten minute walk). Not that it's exactly quiet at night; earplugs to attenuate the sounds of barking dogs and crowing roosters are recommended for light sleepers. Hang a right mid-way down the hill from the house for an alternate way into town.

Sayulita itself is a bustling little town with great eating, a bit of a nightlife and lots to do (or not do if that's what you're looking for). English is widely spoken here which is good for those whose Spanish "needs some work".

A day spent on the beach in nearly San Pancho is also recommended if you're looking for a break from the crowds and action.

All in all, we were very happy with Sayulita and Villa Casa Terramar. Enjoy!

      What a view!

Left on 03/16/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Beth Reichert's unit that we stayed in for two weeks was very satisfying. We rented two floors and that left ample room for privacy for the three of us. Bathrooms were excellent with hot water on demand and nicely appointed. Ditto for the bedrooms (two), one of which was open air, protected but with a great view and nice breezes. The kitchen had everything we needed (only the paring knife was missing, but I hear it is now replaced). A wraparound porch way up in the trees was our favorite, for views, birdwatching and in general contributing to our well being. And the pool was wonderful - large, deep, clean and with lovely lounges and chairs.

Beth was a very gracious hostess and took care of all problems quickly.

The location is excellent for we folks that like to walk in that it is 10 minutes from the heart of town and therefore we had an agreeable walk to the beach, town and all the fascinating events that go on on the streets of Sayulita

Lovely vacation rental off the beaten path!

Left on 01/23/2012 for a stay in January 2012

We stayed in the Casita de alberca, which was small but had everything we needed. It had a beautiful bed, a small kitchenette with a stovetop and refrigerator, and a bathroom. The pictures are all very accurate, and I would say it was in fact even nicer than I had anticipated.

The house is situated atop a hill, which gives you plenty of local flavor on your walk into town or to the beach. The walk itself takes only about 10 minutes or less, and we did not mind it at all since we were often looking to find something to eat on our way to an activity or back from one. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within a short distance, all of which were equally wonderful.

I would highly recommend this place--especially if you wanted to rent out the whole house for a group of friends or larger family.

      Exceptional Customer Service

Left on 01/18/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We were impressed by the exceptional customer service even before we'd arrived at Villa Casa Terramar for our 2011 December holiday. Beth Reichert was quick to respond to our questions via email. She sent us a detailed information package about Sayulita life including restaurants, sites and activities. She helped us arrange transportation pickup with Jose Ramos Taxi Service. The car service sent a driver to meet us at the airport and drove us to Sayulita with a stop at the Mega store for groceries along the way.

Upon arriving in Sayulita, Beth, who resides on the property, met us immediately. The location of Villa Casa Terramar is great. It is within a short walking distance to the North Beach and into Town. The Villa sits on top of a hill with an overview of the ocean and the point. The property, pool and house are well maintained and cleaned. Our group was comprised of 5 adults and one toddler and we stayed comfortably in the two bedroom unit. Each day we spent time at the house, taking a dip in the pool, reading a book in the shade, sitting on the patio enjoying the view while taking in the sites and sounds of native birds and insects.

We enjoyed experiencing the authentic Sayulita which included crowing roosters, howling dogs and friendly locals. We yearn for our next Sayulita Life.

      Great Spot!

Left on 11/26/2011 for a stay in November 2011

This was a very lucky find for our group. It was close enough to town and the beach to be convenient and far enough away to have some quiet. The casa sits on top of a hill and there is a wonderful view of the town and the ocean beyond. From the top floor you look down on a gorgeous sapphire blue pool. This pool is incredible. Wonderful in the morning for a pick-me-up or after dancing all night in town.

Beth is a fantastic host and lives on property, so if there are any special requests, she is there to help. Everything is very clean and very tastefully decorated. We even did a bit of cooking in the very modern kitchen. There's also free wifi for those of us who can't fully disconnect! Beth also generously offered use of her beach chairs and boogie boards, which was fantastic.

I do recommend earplugs, as there is some noise from dogs and roosters at different points in the night.

Otherwise, I look forward to my next visit to Casa Terramar!

      Highly recommend!

Left on 08/27/2011 for a stay in August 2011

My wife and I just returned from a week at Casa Terramar where we had the run of the house. Pictures are a very accurate reflection of the property. Gardens, pool and interior are immaculate. Views of coastline and Monkey Mountain from top two levels are phenomenal. Beth was the consummate host before, during and after our visit and did everything within her powers to ensure our trip was a success.
The property is elevated which is excellent for wind flow, views and it's kind of nice to be at the top of the hill as opposed to bottom when you are in Mexico and it's the wet season ! All amenities are within walking distance from house. Just be warned the road up to the actual house is pretty much impassable so getting luggage, groceries, etc up to the house is a bit of a challenge and involves a walk up a steepish hill. If you are a little bit older and are not that sure on your feet you would want to be check with Beth about current conditions.
However the pros far far outweigh the cons and I consider this an excellent vacation property and endorse it whole heartedly!

      Great family vacation spot

Left on 05/12/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Terramar very much!
Our family group was in town for a wedding so we rented the main house and also the casita, just for the overflow on the wedding weekend. Our stay was 18 days.
      Highlights:
      - The pool was pleasantly large and well maintained. We spent lots of time there lounging and swimming.
      - Two of us slept in the open air room on the top floor. The large room had curtains to block the light and give privacy to the bedroom area. There was a full bathroom and nice table with 6 chairs. Wow, what a view from there.
      - Beth was a great owner/host (conveniently living on the property) ...so she was available with a new replacement fresh water jug... or for helpful advice or the use of some chairs or an umbrella for the beach.
      - Location was convenient to the beach, village shops and restaurants.
      - We felt safe in the area at all times.
Concerns: If barking dogs or roosters crowing are a bother take your earplugs with you for sleeping...we personally enjoyed being close to the local community and enjoyed watching the children play.

Nice place to stay in Sayulita

We had a wonderful time in Sayulita. Casa terramar is located about a 10mn easy walk from the beach. The villa is on a steep hill so we got a good work out coming back. It is about 3 mn walk to 2 wonderful small restaurants. The house is very clean, has everything you need to cook and has a great pool. 2 of our kids ( age 13 and 9) spend hours swimming in the pool. Our 16 year old preferred surfing. The upstairs part has a great view of the water. We felt very safe in and around the house and in Sayulita during the day and night. Beth is a wonderful host. She was very helpful and gave us good suggestions. She also arranged for a local taxi to pick us up at the airport. There is a lot of dogs running around and a few roosters that woke us up pretty early but I guess we were told it is everywhere in Mexico. Overall a fun and relaxing vacation.

It is an easy walk to town; although, one must be prepared for a climb back to the Villa. Beth offered to provide transportation to the airport, which provided us with a great opportunity to learn more about Mexican life. We recommend Beth's Villa and would definitely return in the future.

I just returned from a far too brief visit to Sayulita. We found Villa Casa Terramar on Sayulitalife.com and couldn't have been happier. We stayed on the top two floors which was far more room than we needed, but it was wonderful to have all that space. The home is perched on a hill which allows you to have beautiful views of the ocean and the town. It was nicely furnished, very clean and the owner/manager, Beth, was delightful.

The house was about a 10 minute walk from the town square and a little shorter walk to the beach. The hill was a little bit of a tough walk, but well worth the effort.

I'd highly recommend Casa Terramar and would be happy to answer any questions if you are considering this rental.

Hola! A group of us recently traveled to Sayulita for a friend's wedding. There were 7 of us (female adults) that stayed at Casa Terramar and enjoyed it. The house is very nice as well as the pool. Beth (the house owner) was very helpful and accommodating to our needs. She is also very convenient to get ahold of if questions arise as she lives on the bottom floor of the house.
Warning, the house is on a fairly steep unpaved hill, but the walk is not too high up and totally do-able, even if you're not in the best of shape (probably about 5 minutes to get down the hill and another 5 minutes to get to the town plaza). I have to say we all felt like our buns were a bit tighter after going up and down that hill every day! But as another reviewer wrote, the walk definitely gave you exercise and made you feel not as bad for all the food and alcohol consumed while in Sayulita!
The house has a great view of the town and of the ocean. Also, if you are looking for a vacation that mixes both luxury and a local living experience, this is a great choice as the house is located in the midst of local dwellings...including the roosters right down the road! I was afraid the roosters would wake me up at 5am every morning (as I am not a morning person at all) but amazingly I was still able to sleep in without them bothering me. I was in the indoor bedroom but I did not hear any complaints from my fellow travelers that slept in the outdoor bedroom either.
All in all, had a great time! Loved that almost any amenity needed was provided... beach towels, wifi (which worked great - i heard of other people from the wedding having issues connecting where they were staying), flash lights, beach hats, board games, tv and more. We did a lot of researching of places to stay and Casa Terramar definitely had one of the most inexpensive rates for a more luxury home with all the amenities you could ask for provided.

Based on a friend's recommendation about Sayulita I looked for a Christmas rental . I booked Casa Terramar based on on-line reviews. Beth was friendly and helpful from the moment I made contact .We stayed in the smaller suite which sleeps three. (private patio ). The suite was roomy with a very functional kitchen( and very pretty). My 6'4" son was even comfortable on the single daybed. The view from the patio over Sayulita was amazing. The Sayulita map doesn't have a scale so I had no idea how far from downtown we would be,but it was only a short walk down the main street into town and the beach. It was easy to pop back during the day. Beth lends umbrellas, chairs and boogie boards. I'd go back to Casa Terramar in a second.

      great welcoming accomodation

We rented the second and third floor of the casa, splendid view and breeze. Very clean and well provided for. Felt extremely safe with the location and locked property, had no concerns about safety in the home. Nice to have the division of space and the casa allowed us to have the upper floor and patio area as a second living space very nicely.

As the house is on the hillside, the walk to town and the beach is a very steep climb, might not be suitable for folks who have young children or are elderly.
Our only complaints were not about the home, but about the noise from the town which funnels up the hillside and is especially noticeable at night if there are events in town. Made the open air bedroom less practical some nights.

Beth was a fantastic host, who went above and beyond for our pestering details, and although she lives in the downstairs and was happy to help out we felt we had complete privacy and she did not impose on our space.

The villa was excellently outfitted, nice bedding, decor, and little extras like boogie boards and outdoor candles made us feel very cared for.
      Highly recommend the accomodations!

      Villa Casa Terramar

Left on 11/11/2010 for a stay in November 2010

My boyfriend and my recent stay at in Sayulita proved to be a vacation that exceeded our expectations thanks to Beth and the Villa Casa Terramar. Upon our arrival Beth was at the house to greet us, provided us with a very helpful list of all the restaurants and things to do in Sayulita, and was so welcoming. The Villa itself has unique beautiful design, is very clean, private, comfortable, and remained cool on the hot days as it has built-in fans. It was so relaxing to enjoy the hot afternoon sun drinking a delicious margaritas while cooling off in the deep pool over looking Sayulita. The pool was absolutely amazing as it was the perfect temp heated by the sun, very clean, and quiet, an excellent alternative to the busy beach. Each day we walked into town and the beach multiple times for adventures as it was an easy few minute walk. I would definitely recommend the Villa Casa Terramar to other travelers visiting Sayulita that are looking for a relaxing vacation spot with easy access to anything in town. I look forward to visiting Sayulita again!

Most beautiful beach town in Mexico!

Left on 09/16/2010 for a stay in June 2010

"Casa Terramar is a fantastic beautiful beach vacation home set up on the side of a hill in Sayulita. The views of the sea and the sunsets from the rooftop patio are stunning! And it's only a short 5 minute walk to the beach! We loved the tranquil atmosphere there at the house, night swimming in the pool, hanging out up on the rooftop patio for drinks at sunset, then going into town for fresh fish tacos, live music and a fun night out. This place is the ultimate relaxation getaway, but you can also find so much going on in town and on the beach if you want a bit of a social atmosphere. Beth is a wonderful host, as well. We had everything we needed, the house was super clean and breezy, the pool was fantastic and everything was overall just perfect! We felt very comfortable there and will definitely return to Sayulita for another visit. It's a perfect place to stay if you have a big group of friends that want to rent out the whole place. It sleeps about 10 people.
I recommend, if you have time and a vehicle, checking out the other nearby beaches at Punta de Mita, Chacala and Guayabitos. They are all within about 40 minutes from Sayulita and definitely worth the trip! Thanks Beth for a great time in Sayulita!"

I felt so fortunate to have found Casa Terramar in Sayulita. I had travelled to Sayulita before and had stayed in a hostel. My second trip to Sayulita I wanted something nicer so I researched and found Casa Terramar. When I saw the inexpensive price I expected it to be just a mediocre place. But when we arrived we were so surprised! The property is great, very well-maintained, and had a great view. Beth, the owner, was so helpful and friendly she really made the already great place even more wonderful. The location is close to town (althought the hill to the house is quite steep). The pool was very nice. The room was clean and well-decorated. I do not have a single complaint about my stay there. I have already recommended Casa Terramar to many of my friends, and will exclusively stay there on subsequent visits to Sayulita. Big thumbs up!

      Great place with Great people

Villa Casa Terramar is a great plact to stay.
We rented the top floor as well as the main floor for the 4 of us to stay. The main floor had a fully stocked kitchen as well as a bedroom, bathroom and living room. The fully stocked kitchen helped on days we cooked in,Bbq'd (on the provided grill), or just having drinks by the pool.

The pool itself is great. Nice to have dip there after spending a long day at the beach, which is just a few blocks away.

We didn't rent a car during our trip and had no problems getting to town/beach from the house. Often carrying umbrellas, chairs, towels for the day. All of which were provided by Villa Terramar. The hill to the house goes through a mexican neighbor hood and is a bit steep, but just gave us more reason for the pool after the climb.

The house owner was on site and helped us out with direction, places to eat, and see etc. The house also had internet, but we didn't have a computer so not really any use to us.

All in all, great place to stay, friendly neighorhood and close to the beach!

      Better than I imagined

Left on 09/01/2010 for a stay in June 2010

We stayed here with 7 other friends (so there were 9 of us total). The place was better than we dreamed! It's stocked with all the kitchen stuff you would need, even a blender and a bottled water jugs, and the rooms were all nice and clean. There was a BBQ next to the pool that had propane already stocked so we Bbq'd the first night and kicked back by the private pool. The view since you are at the top of a hill is amazing! The top floor is reached by a spiral staircase so that is something to keep in mind, but you can see the gorgeous view from the lower floors, too. We wanted a place where we could all stay together and did a lot of research and was hoping that the place would be as nice as we were thinking...It was better. We were all happy and content. Beth was so helpful with everything. She even helped us plan a dinner night in and found us a couple ladies who cooked us a traditional Mexican dinner to eat at the top floor while watching the beautiful sunset. Any request she was helpful with providing. The villa is walking distance to the ocean and town. It is at the top of a hill so we just rented a golf cart to drive around town and up the hill after the first day so we wouldn't tire of walking up it. We felt like we had our own private mansion. I would reccomend this place highly to anyone vacationing in Sayulita.

I've been traveling/living in Mexico for years, and Casa Terramar is one of my absolute favorites. It's on a hillside with beautiful views of the ocean and Monkey Mountain and enjoys the cooler breezes that you just don't get staying lower down. But it's still only a quiet 5 minute walk to the beach and the center of town. Ask to borrow the boogie board and beach chairs. Casa Terramar is sort of like Sayulita itself--a great mix of Mexican/U.S./Canadian/European, young/not so young, locals/families/surfers/outdoorsy types. The american on site owner keeps Terramar up to high standards--rooms are comfortable, very clean, bright and airy. The deep/large pool (with a grill for cooking the fish you might catch) is a great place for low key, informal margarita socials and getting to meet the few other guests who may be staying.
