Prices above (and availability) relate to your beautiful and spacious top floor apartment with large panorama balcony and high open vaulted ceilings revealing the beams. Different rates apply to our ground floor apartment with dream kitchen and large sun deck /garden or our first floor apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 new bathrooms (plus living room plus kitchen). All with castle views. Just ask us. We are happy to help.
There is a small additianal local eco tax of 1,70 Euro per night and adult/kids age 16+ (0.85 Euro for children aged 5-15)

From the minute we started the booking process to the end of the holiday itself Birkeneck and the host, Cornelia, was practically perfect in every way.
We stayed in the 2 bedroomed mid- floor apartment which was more than adequate to meet our needs. We traveled with our two, adult, children and found there was plenty to do in the area to meet the needs of all.
The only difficulty we had was the German recycling system. We promised the cleaners that we'd take lessons before we go again! -

Our stay in Birkeneck 3 lived up to our expectations. The apartment was spacious, spotless with fabulous views to the castle. Within walking distance of Schwangau and Fussen. Excellent for cycling - round the lake - with the option of using the ferry service if you don't want to cycle round the whole lake. Plenty of places to eat and drink all within walking distance. The only tiny gripe - we missed having the use of a dvd player in the apartment to watch at night but overall a lovely stay.

Hi Silke,
I wanted to say how much we - myself, my sister and my brother-in-law - enjoyed our time at your apartment.
The apartment itself was lovely - immaculately clean, bright, spacious and well appointed - and the area and the views were fantastic. In fact, all exactly as described. We hadn't realised quite how beautiful Schwangau was going to be! We enjoyed some lovely walks and had a brilliant time out on the bikes we'd hired. All the cycle trails made it really fun and relaxing: one day we went all the way round Forggensee - with stops for beer and cake! - and so enjoyed it. I'm much too nervous to ride a bike amongst traffic so we really appreciated the cycle routes. Thanks again!

Just returned from a wonderful 9 night stay at Birkeneck luxury apartments. We were a family of 5 and had rented the ground floor and the first floor apartments. Both of the apartments were beautifully furnished and had everything you would need for a relaxing holiday. The ground floor apartment also had access to a lovely patio area with table and chairs and sun loungers. The views of the surrounding area and castles were stunning, especially at night when the castles were lit up. There was also a massage chair in the bedroom which was wonderful after a busy day out and about! The first floor apartment had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and also had a large balcony running the lenght of the apartment. The balcony had table and chairs so you could sit and enjoy the views.
When we arrived at Birkeneck we were met by the manager Cornelia who explained all the details about the apartments and the sorrounding area. There was also a file in the apartment of recommendations of where to eat and also the many walks available to you.
There was so much to do within the area of Fussen and Schwangau. We hired bikes for the week as there were some great biking trails around the lakes. The lakes were also lovely for taking a swim. As well as the 2 castles on your doorstep there was also the Tegelberg mountain and cable car and the summer luge. A five minuite walk also took you to the crystale therme spa which was lovely. We all had a fabulous stay at Birkeneck and will most certainly return there. -

This apartment is very well equiped and has all the home comforts that you could want. The location is superb and ideal for seeing the area, castles, mountains and lakes. There is lots of information available which is very useful. We liked it so much that we booked again for the following year within two weeks of returning!!

We just loved our week in this house, with the view of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles and the alps from the windows to the miles of hiking trails beginning just outside the door. The kitchen is beautifully equipped and the furnishings are very comfortable (including the bed). Private parking, good internet connection, laundry room, proximity to the castles, lots of great easy hiking and grocery shopping made this a lucky choice for us. The manager Cornelia was very helpful, and the book of information and maps that she provided proved invaluable as we explored the area. We would go back to this house in a minute, and hope to one day. We traveled for three months in Europe, renting condos and houses the whole time, and Birkeneck was definitely a stand-out. Bavaria was amazing, and so was this house.

Wonderful Christmas Holiday

We had a fantastic holiday over Christmas at the Birkeneck apartments. It was in a great location close to the Neuschwanstein Castle. The apartment was very well equipped and extremely comfortable. Schwangau, and nearby Füssen, were picturesque small towns and we had lots of funs walking in the snow!

My family and I stayed at the apartment over Christmas. The owner, Silke was one of the nicest and kindest people I have ever had the opportunity to deal with. The service she personally provided was over and above what could have been expected. The apartment was beautiful, it was clean and finished to a very high standard. Overall it was one of the nicest holidays we have had and we will be returning.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Birkeneck Luxury Holiday apartment. It's a very tasteful place (clean and modern), with great views on the mountains and Neuschwanstein Castle. The location is perfect with great lakes, hikes and pretty much any outdoor activity at your fingertips. On top of this, we really felt welcome by Silke and Kalim. What more could you ask for ?
5 stars for sure (4 stars for check-in because we had to wait for 1 hour till the apartment was ready). -

Birkeneck is a fantastic apartment, well equipped and very comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome here and really appreciated all the advice and the ideas the hosts gave us as they came in really handy. We enjoyed having drinks with the owners and were very grateful for the DVD loans and wet weather advice.

What a fantastic family holiday! All the ingredients for what my family loves. Great winter sports, great natural beauty all around and so accessible from Munich. We were absolutely thrilled with the Mountain top chalets the fairy tale castles and the friendly people in general. The flat was very attractive,extremely modern, comfortable and private - it's impecably maintained and cosy with all the mod cons we needed. There are plenty of fabulous places to eat within close walking distance but it is also good to be able to have a simple home meal when we were tired out from days outdoors or on the slopes. Our hosts were charming and interesting and very helpful with suggestions of what we might enjoy and how to get there. Importantly for us, though they got the balance right with being there to help but letting us enjoy our privacy. Highlights: The kids ski-ing lessons, watching the reindeer at feeding time and the simply marvellous food and hospitality to be had all around. We really didn't stay long enough to do the area justice and we will definitely be back! Thanks Silke and Kalim - and be careful, that massage chair would have left on the plane with us if it had fit in a suitcase - my husband fell in love with it!

We really enjoyed our stay at Birkneck Luxury Apartment. It was a nice drive from Frankfurt and once we got there it was a fabulous getaway from the city life. You can arrive without knowing anything about the area and Silke and Khalim will give you all of the information you need. They had made dinner reservations for us for our first night and the restaurant was really great and just a short walk from the hotel. We weren't really sure what we wanted to do on our trip, but we let our hosts know what types of things we enjoyed and they provided us with so many options and detailed information about the area. The apartment itself was really beautiful; modern and open, and cozy at the same time. The small town of Schwangau is charming and we actually found it easier to communicate in English there than almost any other city we have visited in Germany so far. Everyone seems like they really want you to have a great stay. We got to experience so much in our 4 nights there, but we were also left wanting more. We will definitely be coming back.

As visitors from the United States who had been looking forward to the stunning beauty of southern Germany, we were told by German friends that Schwangau is one of the true gems, and the perfect place to stay. That proved to be excellent advice! But even more so, our experience in the Birkeneck apartment was fantastic: Brandnew, very spacious, with a beautiful view of the mountains and Neuschwanstein. And the owners, Silke and Kalim Rehman, who live in the same house, were not only fluent in English (hey, they are Brits!), but also magnificent tour guides. Our two children enjoyed this vacation tremendously - we'll be back next year, Familie Rehman!

Birkeneck Luxury Holiday Apartment far exceeded our expectations. Located in the lovely village of Schwangau, the apartment is a true gem in a great location, close to many outdoor activities, including: mountain walks; cycling; hand gliding; white water rafting; canoeing etc. The upper floor apartment, recently converted using local materials is finished to a very high standard and you will not be disappointed with the quality fit-out. The views of the mountains and Neuschwanstien castle are a real bonus. The owners are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them in making your stay comfortable. They speak German and English, have excellent local knowledge and are keen to share their experiences and recommend everything from restaurants to the best mountain walks.
With so much to see and do in the local area this is a really is a hidden gem of an apartment in one of Europes best kept secrets of a location.
We are returning again this summer - our first repeat holiday ever.
