Admire the unobstructed beach and ocean view in this one-bedroom, one-bath, ocean-front condo located on the sixth floor. There is a queen bed in the bedroom and by adding two rollaway beds in the living room, this condo will accommodate four. No pets are allowed in this condo. This condo does not have a washer and dryer.

I chose Sand & Sea because I had stayed there almost 5 years ago in a really nice room with a great ocean view for a very decent rate. During this trip for my 26th birthday things were a little different.

The room smelled old and smokey like it has been smoked in for years. We noticed that the owner of the room is a man and I'm wondering if it is an old man that has been smoking in that room for a long time. There was no mention of this room having previously been a smoked in room (this was kind of upsetting). It wasn't an unbearable smell, but we didn't really know the full extent of it until after we had left and arrived back home. All of the clothing and my personal pillow that I brought along with me reeked of the smokey smell from the room. This was a big inconvenience because it all had to be washed. All of the furniture in the unit and the carpeting would probably need to be replaced and the walls repainted to get rid of that odor.
The other major con about this trip was the bed! The bed was outdated and uncomfortable to the extent that we barely got any sleep the first night and decided to drive home the second night because it wasn't worth staying in that bed another night.
Overall, if you are on a budget and don't want to spend a ton of money for an ocean view and or don't mind the smell of musty cigarette this room would be great for you. P.S. bring a mattress topper cushion.
Let me be clear that I still have confidence that other rooms at Sand & Sea are great to stay in, just not this particular one.Response from Sand & Sea - 04/03/2013

I am sorry about the unpleasant odor. We are a nonsmoking property, however our condos are privately owned.
After this owner leaves we do our best to get rid the smell. Thank you for letting me know about the bed. I apologize for your inconvenience and thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Our friends had a 2 bedroom that was not much more than we spent for a one bedroom. Should lock the extra bedroom and give people the master . Bed in extra room was horrible. Everything was very nice. We did have a problem with refrigerator but it was quickly fixed and we were treated very fairly. Enjoy staying here but get a new bed or let one bedroom folks have the master.

The check-in/out was quite smooth and accurate. The room was nicely decorated and provided many items that made us feel right at home. The view was awesome along with the weather. Seaside is a favorite of our family due to the pleasurable experience to walk the town and enjoy the variety of things to do! Even though it was a relaxing time; the thing I liked least about the stay is that there was so much to do, the weekend was not long enough and we missed out on using the pool. Perhaps next time...

Let me put down a few things first that I had a problem with. The bathroom sink wouldn't drain without my getting underneath and manually releaseing it. The curtain on the slider is a real pain to close. The freezer was leaking on the floor(we put a towel down to soak it up). No directions on how to start the fireplace. No warning about needing a card to get in after hours (my wife couldn't get in till she finally figured it out on her own). Only one of our keys even had the card. The television in the bedroom was a joke, I didn't know any one made a 9" one. It appears to me the whole outside of the place could use a good cleaning. The light over the dining table kept going off and on while we were playing a game at night. All that said, we had a good time walking the beach,golfing,swimming,shopping and just being tourists. Love the view and sound of the ocean off the deck. Kithchen was pretty well equipped for a rental and the place was very comfortable for lounging and sleeping.

It's always a wonderful stay. Everyone is so nice. Did not enjoy the 2 bus loads of kids staying there. It became rather noisy and crowded. When they left it was back to normal. I hope they will notify me if they plan on booking that many kids in one hotel. I would have changed my plans. The 5 times I have went on vacation at seaside. Only 1 time has this happened. For the money, Check the booking.
