Capitol Hill..Harrison Modern Deluxe Vacation Apts Seattle, Washington
Additional Location Information
The Capitol Hill neighborhood is affectionately known as the Hill, and is the most densely populated area in Seattle. It serves as the center of Seattle's counterculture. The Hill is a bustling area that is home to the entire cross-section of Seattle€™s population. Broadway is the main thoroughfare with shops and restaurants as diverse as the inhabitants. It gets busy in the evening with an extensive nightlife scene.
Capitol Hill Restaurants: You will find a little bit of everything on the Hill, especially along Broadway. Cassis (French) and Monsoon (Vietnamese) are two of the best restaurants in Seattle. Tango has some of the "Best Tapas in Seattle". Aoki (Sushi), Galerias (Mexican), Hana (Japanese), Kingfish Cafe (Southern), Osteria la Spiga (Italian), and Queen of Sheba (Ethiopian) are also good and not too expensive.
Capitol Hill Nightlife: The War Room is one of the most popular spots with loud music and a large rooftop deck that gets plenty of use in the summer. Rosebud Cafe has great drink specials early. Garage is a trendy combination bar, posh pool hall and bowling alley. Barca caters to the more fashion-conscious crowd, while Neighbors is probably the most popular of several bars frequented by the gay community.
Capitol Hill Apartments and Real Estate: The neighborhood has an interesting mix of housing options from the grandest mansions in Seattle to studio apartment buildings. Houses and townhouses range from the low $400,000 range up to about $5 million. Apartments start at $700 per month for the barest studios up to $3000 for luxury condos.
Capitol Hill Transportation: The main form of transportation on the Hill is probably walking up and down Broadway. Parking can be scarce, so the bus is a good option getting to and around Capitol Hill as well. The following King County Metro Transit routes serve the area, generally from 6am to 10pm: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 25, 43, 49, and 60. The Route 84 “Night Owl†makes a stop at Broadway going east on Pine around 2am and west around 3:30am. Taxis are also readily available at night
Make sure to check out the Capitol Hill's web site for more information on local activities and updates for your vacation!

Fantastic location in a beautiful Seattle neighborhood
Left on 11/20/2012 for a stay in November 2012 | Rebecca
My husband and I stayed at the Harrison Modern for our 2nd wedding anniversary and had a fantastic time. Ian was very helpful with the booking and communicated promptly to any questions. He was also very accommodating about a request for a late check out and a last minute request for parking. The location simply cannot be beat. Easy to get to from the airport and a beautiful residential neighborhood. Well worth a walk around just to admire the eclectic architecture especially if this is a first visit to Seattle. Coming from Calgary we really envy the growing season of Seattle and love to admire the gardens. The apartment is a quick and easy walk to great coffee, good restaurants, groceries and shopping. We walked down to the Pike Street Market one day and it was a nice leisurely stroll (stop at Little Woody's for a great burger and shake if you get a chance). The only reason we didn't walk home was it was 11pm and we were beat but it was a cheap cab ride back from the space needle. The apartment is a very good value when compared to hotel accommodations in Seattle. You get more space, a kitchen as well as the feel of a being a local staying in a neighborhood. The apartment itself is huge and well appointed. The furnishings are in line with the mid century modern building and everything was very clean and in good condition. Comfortable bed and really lovely bedding! The kitchen is well stocked with the basics and every utensil you should need for your stay. The bathroom again very clean and the shower pressure and abundance of hot water was perfect. I would definitely recommend The Harrison Modern to friends and family and actually have already. Hoping to get some friends to go for a girls weekend in the new year!

We had a great time staying at Harrison Modern. It is close to everything and the parking space was important since its difficult to find on street parking. Apartment was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Will stay again when we go back to Seattle! Ian was great with recomendations for shopping dinner and all that stuff..

We loved staying at the Harrison Modern Deluxe. It was in a safe lovely neighborhood. Although you could catch the trolley two blocks away, we used cabs instead. Since there were four of us it cost about the same to call a cab and be delivered to the doorstep of the downtown attractions for under $10 each way.
The apartment was very comfortable, extremely clean and spacious. We loved the wood floors and big windows. The free laundry room was downstairs and very convenient and secure. The bedding was so soft and the mattress was perfect, we found ourselves staying in bed later each day than we had planned to. It truly put the vacation in our trip!
Arrival was a piece of cake; we appreciated all the clear detailed instructions we received from Ian. The flat looked exactly like the photos: stylish and immaculate. We loved the location and had easy access to both sides of Capitol Hill and a quick walk to downtown. The bed was super comfy! Read more
Thanks for the review and acknowledging our attention to detail, having stayed at many vacation rentals over the past 7 years we have fine-tuned our rentals for the best possible experience. We are also very lucky to have such a great location.... Regards Ian
Comfortable getaway right next to the city

This vacation apartment is clean, comfortable and well situated. It felt like home away from home... we didn't want to leave. It's worth paying extra for the parking spot, but there is parking on the street... if you're vacationing, why worry about parking? All amenities are within walking distance and the city center is a short drive. The proprietor is professional and trustworthy. Highly recommended for couples and families wanting the feel of home away from home. A++
Very clean, lots of room, nicest apartment in the area we could

Excellent location for nice access (walking) to restaurants and shopping located between Broadway and 115th st. Laundry appliances are modern and up to day, full kitchen, we very much enjoyed our stay and will return when we come back to Seattle.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Harrison Modern. The place is clean, the bed is great and we loved the location, which reminded us of the near north side of Chicago. It's also a nice walk to Pike Market and environs. Would recommend to anyone.

This apartment was very nice; it was spacious, comfortable, bright, etc. The neighborhood was lovely, with lots of trees and flowers and nice shops and restaurants. The ability to come "home" when the city got to be too much was great. And, when we wanted to go out, it was very close to several bus lines, and was a short walk from downtown. Read more
Thanks for your review. We are very lucky to have a great building in a great location. Regards Ian
Great place for a family

We stayed at this apartment for a week with 3 young children while visiting Seattle. It was a very convenient location for both downtown and the slightly northern neighborhoods of Seattle. There were multiple restaurants and a grocery store within a short walking distance. The apartment was clean. The kitchen was stocked with appropriate utensils and small appliances. A very nice washer and dryer were available for our use. Communications with the management were efficient and directions to the apartment were clear. A Wi-Fi connection was also available at the apartment. Sleeping arrangements for 5 were a little tight, but since the children were younger, it worked out great for us. Would not recommend for more than 4 adults. We would certainly recommend this apartment and would be happy to stay here again. Read more
Thanks for your review. We do not recommend 5 adults stay in any of our 1 bedroom apartments. We always suggest our 2 bedroom unit for larger groups. However, families with children that are on a budget appreciate the 900 sq feet of space and the HUGE sofa sectional for lounging and sleeping that this, 1 bedroom apartment provides.
I'm glad we were able to accommodate your late check-out as requested, it makes all the difference when you have an evening flight to catch.
5 star all the way

The apartment was ideal for our stay. It is centrally located in the Capital Hill area, close to downtown. The apartment was older than we thought but was comfortable, clean and well equipped. There was lots of info on things to do in Seattle plus discount cards for the excellent QFC on Broadway which was recommended by Ian.
The neighbourhood felt safe, friendly and very interesting to walk around.
Booking was easy and professsionlly handled by Ian.
The Harrison Modern was fantastic. Dont look any further

We stayed at the Harrison Modern apartments while visiting Seattle for 10 days which coincided with Thanks Giving weekend 2009. This place was just great. If you are looking for a home away from home in Seattle, then don't look any further.
We have been travelling around the world for the whole year and have relied extensively on tripadvisor reviews by fellow traveller to find the best hotels and vacation rentals along the way with a good success rate. This apartment and Seattle itself would definately rate as one of the best places we stayed this year.
Our apartment was really spacious with a huge living/dining area, large queensize bedroom and bathroom with shower over the bath and a full kitchen. We were really impressed how clean and cosy warm the apartment was (it was freezing outside) and the little extras like extra towels, tissues and real coffee provided.
The location of the apartment was also great. We had a car for part of our stay, but walked to the city (about 10-15 minutes) most days. The apartments are located in a quiet safe suburb on the hill overlooking downtown Seattle. Two blocks away on Broadway is a really good QFC grocery store (remember to use the frequent shoppers card attached to the apartment keys as it saved us quite a lot). There was also a Safeway grocery store two blocks in the other direction. We also discovered some great shops and restaurants on Broadway. Vivace was our favourite coffee stand.
We did most of the touristy things to do in Seattle and had a great time, but one real highlight was the visit to the Boing factory. It is about a thirty minute drive out of town, but well worth it. We also lucked in a perfect crisp clear day to visit the space needle and had amazing views in all directions.
In summary it felt like being at home away from home when we stayed at the Harrison Modern and we wouldn't hestitate to recomend it to other visitors to Seattle. We would definately stay here again.
This is the perfect apartment and the perfect location!

The Harrison Modern apartments are stylishly furnished, with many thoughtful
touches. We enjoyed listening to some of the cds provided for our pleasure,
and the kitchen was fully stocked and very easy to cook in. We were a short
walk from many restaurants, a beautiful park, and plenty of shopping. We will
definitely stay there every time we visit Seattle.

I stayed at the Harrison Modern for a week. Next time I plan to stay longer!
The unit was large, clean and provided total privacy. I loved the large
comfortable bed and the kitchen was perfect for nights that I didn't feel like
going out to dine. There was a grocery store within walking distance, as well
as, tons of other area stores, coffee carts and restaurants. I enjoyed walking
throughout the Capital Hill area and up to Volunteer Park, located just a short
The owners were very helpful whenever I had any questions, or requests.

Sparkling clean, spacious comfort, well-equipped with every convenience, centrally located for a great Seattle experience. This apartment was the perfect anti-hotel room fix for a few days stay in the Seattle metropolitan area. We took a short day trip to Tacoma to see the fabulous Glass Museum and returning to the apartment was like coming home. I sat on the front porch in the late afternoon and enjoyed watching people walk by. We walked to local restaurants for all the meals we ate out, and we used the very convenient kitchen for the rest. Everything about this apartment works, including the delightful managers, and we will be back!

Our apartment at the Harrison Modern was exactly as described and pictured on the website. The location was great--mostly residential, but within a block or two in several directions of many really good restaurants of various ethnicities and types, bars, coffee shops, interesting little stores, and some beautiful neighborhoods and parks. At least a couple of grocery stores too. My husband and I stayed in the upstairs apartment for 8 nights, and each night but one we walked to a different restaurant! There are so many nice parts of Seattle, but I would definitely choose this interesting area, and this apartment, as our home base again. The apartment is thoughtfully laid out, with comfy couches and beds (queen size and a day bed), shiny hard wood floors, a big TV, nice track lighting and pleasant decor...a tasteful combo of retro and Ikea:-) The laundry room is just downstairs, and we also opted to pay the moderate extra charge for parking, which was right in front of our door. The apartment was spotlessly clean, there was always hot water--really, no glitches at all. I had never before rented an apartment for a vacation, and was a little wary of doing so sight unseen, but I really liked the way Ian sounded in his emails and on the phone, so I felt comfortable taking the plunge. I'm so glad I did! Mary and Joe, Ann Arbor MI
