What Past Guests Are Saying
Place is old and tiresome and needs updating.
Initally booked this place for the location and it served that purpose. But we quickly discovered this location was farther than we wanted to be. The views are of surrounding buildings and freeway. Wondered why there were no pictures of the bathrooms online. There's two closet-sized bathrooms in this "penthouse" suite. Although we did not spend an entire day in the suite, after a while, looking at that crack in the wall that ran along one of the walls in the bedroom, next to the bed, gets dreary. There's cracks behind the doors in the bathrooms too. One of the "80s" blinds fell out of the track when we opened it. The TV in the room is a combo VHS tape/television. Yes, that's right. Vhs tape. Luckily someone in our party knew how to program the channels on the old tv. The person who showed us the room said "there's the remote controls and it's self-explanatory." We had to turn the water on for the toilet in the first bathroom. Nearly thought it was broken. No air conditioning from May thru the summer but they do have fans. If you open the window, all you'll hear is the freeway. Wasn't too keen on the comforters or blankets that were available either. Not sure if I would advertise this as a "penthouse" suite because it gives the wrong impression. A "suite" would suffice and the place definitely needs updating!
Response from Seattle Suites, LLC, A Prof. Mgmt Company - 06/15/2012
We are sorry this guest was unhappy. At check in she made it clear that she didn't like Seattle and it wasn't her idea to vacation here. She did call the next day to say she was unable to turn on the showers and thought they were broken. The building manager arrived and showed her how to turn the handle (they pull out and turn to the right). We have no idea why that was not self explanatory. However, in return she demanded $300 or threatened to post a bad review. We offered a full refund minus the one night she had stayed if she was unhappy with property and wanted to leave. She didn't want to leave, just wanted to extort $300 and threatend to post bad reviews if we didn't pay her. We don't take well to blackmail of this kind and find that unfortunately we occasionally run into people like this who believe that threats of online reviews is a great extortion scam.
btw - we do have fans and air conditioners in all our condos June through September. Seattle weather in May does not merit them and they would be put in early if it did or if they had been requested by the guest.
Awesome Penthouse Experience
Our stay with Seattle Suites at the Elektra was fantastic. The room is spacious, sleeps several, and has spectacular views of downtown Seattle, Lake Union and even peek-a-boo views of Puget Sound. The location next to the Convention Center can't be beat and there's a full kitchen for real in-home living. The best hotels can barely compete with the views and amenities and can't compete with the price. Will stay there every opportunity we get! Thanks for a great stay!
