Our stay in Harbor Steps 1520 was great. The unit had all the necessary amenities and the four of us were very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. The location is fantastic - close to Pike Place Market and the view is spectacular.

Left on 04/06/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We recently stayed at Harbor Steps and had a great time. The location was perfect: close proximity to Pike Place, the waterfront and to the I-5. With young kids, it was great property for they could see the ferris wheel and ships passing by. A few things about the property: was clean but do think it needs new blinds and updated carpet but those things are minor. Again, great place!

Newberg, OR, United StatesTrip with 4 kids
Left on 02/20/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We have 4 young (but very well behaved) children. Ages 9, 7 and 3 year old twins. This was the perfect location for us! The kids loved watching the ferries coming and going. They could see the cars and passengers boarding. They also enjoyed seeing the great wheel all lit up at night. My husband and I enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. We walked everywhere, even though we had a car. We walked to the waterfront everyday, as well as shopping downtown at Nordstrom. Kress IGA is just a few blocks away. Only complaints were that the couch (hideabed) cushions zippers were broken (didn't affect the function, just looked tacky), the metal blinds need to be replaced, not all of them turn properly, making it tricky to open and close, and the shower heads are low for my height (5'-11"), but wouldn't be a problem for a shorter person. These were very minor details and none affected the enjoyment of our stay. The location and view are incredible and far outweighed any minor flaws! The kids played in the pool twice and loved it, but adults should note that the pool is small and only 3.5 feet at the deepest point. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here, we will definitely be back for a longer stay next time.
Response from Sea to Sky Rentals - 02/20/2013
Manager
Hello Samara! Thank you so much for providing us with such a wonderful and descriptive review! It's always so nice when reviews have a personal touch. Your feedback is helpful not only to us, but to future guests as well. The great wheel at night is such a spectacular sight and no one ever seems to tire of watching the ferries come and go! While it didn't impact your stay, I'm glad you brought some of the smaller details to our attention. I have passed along your feedback to our Property Manager. We would love to install different window coverings; however Harbor Steps Property Management will not allow us to replace the blinds. Fortunately most guests leave the blinds open to enjoy the view! Again, thank you for your feedback. We would love to have you stay with us again at Harbor Steps or any one of our other properties. What a great condo. It's in the perfect location - walkable to a bunch of great restaurants, public transportation, and tons of things to do. The view was amazing! All windows in the living room. Everything was clean and well maintained. Our only real issue was that the door lock would stick and was difficult to open and lock. Also, for such a nice place, it should have a better shower head than Motel 6. Both comments were very minor and did not detract at all from our stay. Can't wait to come back!

we stayed here for three nights from 18-21 december. we had not been to seattle before and this location was perfect. it had a beautiful view of the harbour, and was close to the Piers and to all of the shops. the apartment was lovely and very well appointed. we had just spent a month travelling in the usa and this was one of the nicest places we stayed at. Harbor Steps Management were very professional and helpful throughout. the only issue we had was that we couldn't find the correct elevator shaft from the carpark to begin with. that was soon sorted and other than that everything was perfect.

Left on 11/11/2012 for a stay in November 2012
This is a great location and honestly the only thing I could complain about is the windows, you can hear the traffic quite a lot as soon as you enter the apartment, there's a major road running along the coast. You get the feeling there's been a few other complaints when you see ear plugs in e bathroom. However, I can sleep anywhere. The heating works well but needs to be turned up a lot to be effective, I get the feeling a lot of cold air is coming in gaps in the windows.
Apart from that , great central location and what a view. wake up in the morning and grab coffee and bagels across the road at Cherry Street coffee house, and then at night head 2 blocks up hill to Japonesa, 2 of my now favorite places in Seattle.Response from Sea to Sky Rentals - 11/12/2012

Hello Sean! Thank you for taking the time to provide a review of your stay! I appreciate your feedback on the windows and the traffic noise; it's a helpful hint for those potential guests who are more sensitive to city sounds. Because all of our properties are in downtown / urban areas of Seattle, we provide earplugs to all our guests. Our Operations Manager will contact maintenance about the possible leak in a window seal. I would love to pass your feedback along to Cherry Street Coffee House and Japonessa. We love to promote and support local area business! Please keep in mind that all return guests receive a 5% discount. We'd love to have you stay with us again!

The views from the unit are good. The unit is very noisy. The windows are not sealed properly, this can be seen by the movement in blinds when the wind blows. The traffic noise is constant all night. The unit was pretty clean but the carpet is unbelievably dirty/stained. The location is terrific. Everything is within easy walking distance.

Hi John,Thank you so much for taking the time to provide a review of your stay at Harbor Steps 1520. Guest feedback is always valued and appreciated. The condition of the carpets in the unit is something we try very hard to stay on top off. Unfortunately we have a few things working against us. Due to the high volume of guests during peak travel seasons it is difficult to schedule routine, professional deep carpet cleans. We do put holds on all our properties several times a year for deep cleans on all carpets and upholstered furniture. Typically these take place in late fall and spring. Your stay at 1520 occurred just prior to the fall deep clean. We would love the opportunity to replace / remove the light colored, residential grade carpets in all our Harbor Steps properties; however we lease the properties and therefore cannot make changes to the units. The windows at Harbor Steps do need to be resealed on occasion. Our Operations Manager stayed at Harbor Steps not that long ago and had the same experience. We did arrange to have the issue fixed. I will let her know about your experience so we can send someone in to take another look.It sounds as though overall you enjoyed the view, general location and time in Seattle. While Harbor Steps 1520 was not a fit for you, we do have other properties available in downtown Seattle with amazing sound views. All return guests receive a 5% discount. We value your business and hope that you will consider another stay with us.Again, thank you for your feedback.Best,Colleen IrelandDirector of Marketing

Wonderful central location, very convenient for everything and that great store just downstairs for most things you would need including a great selection of wine and beer. Generally very clean and in good condition BUT the carpets need to be ripped up and replaced by hard floors which can be easily cleaned - also kept finding long cat hairs so not sure where they came from - guess previous guest who said their cat enjoyed scratching the balcony was not joking! Good supply of paper goods and cleaning materials etc and generally the building was clean and well maintained apart from the pool and hot tub - they were both manky and need a really good clean - management team should be taken to task for that - they are paid to maintain the pool are, surely? Did not find the traffic too noisy and loved watching the ferries fill up and empty out onto the streets of Seattle. So many things to do and see we would have liked another few days. Not sure how 6 people would manage as there was not a lot of space to move round the lounge area - think the furniture in there is a bit on the big side and I did not find the sofa at all comfortable but the armchair was. But we would stay there again but bring slippers to wear on the carpets1

5 friends go to a different city each year to watch the New England Patriots. The rental was located in a great location for walking around the city and near the stadium. Having the kitchen and full laundry (didn't have to use) was a selling point that was great, since the cost of 2 hotel rooms was about the same.

True that this is an ideal location near grocery, coffee shops, Pike Place market. Harbour and ferry views are exceptional with the full windows in this corner unit. But it is true that it is next to a noisy highway - may need earplugs to sleep at night. Not a big deal for some. Property itself is very nice, clean and well-run. A bit disappointed we weren't told the pool would be closed for maintenance during our stay as we had a 5 year old with us and were all ready for a swim.

Hello Kerry! Thank you for your review of Harbor Steps 1520. I am so glad you were able to enjoy the unit and the location. For future stays, we do provide earplugs at our properties for those who are sensitive to the downtown street noise. We enjoyed our stay. The location and view from the condo was phenomenal. You can see the ferris wheel all lit up on the waterfront. It was close to Pikes Market and the waterfront. It took us a few days to realize that by getting off on the right floor, you can even shorten the walk. Our only complaint was that the front lobby people, who do not part of the rental company, were not very helpful or friendly. They basically gave us a key and that was it. Also, we went during a heat wave in August and the condo had only a window air condition unit. Because of all the windows, the unit gets extremely hot. Then, when you try to open the windows at night when the city cools off, it's very noisy. We didn't get a lot of good sleep but I guess we just had bad timing.
Response from Sea to Sky Rentals - 09/05/2012
Manager
Hello Twila! Thank you so much for providing us with a detailed review. I am glad you were able to enjoy your stay despite the August heat wave! The building does not have central air, so keeping things cool on very hot days can be a bit challenging with just a stand-alone a/c unit. As far as the Harbor Steps staff, I apologize for your experience. At Sea to Sky we take customer service very seriously and expect that everyone we are associated with do the same. I will pass your feedback along to the Harbor Steps General Manager. All Sea to Sky return guests receive a 5% discount. Just the view from the apt was a vacation in itself. We enjoyed walking out the door to the ferries and Pike Place Mkt. I was very happy with the location, and the awesome view. . .a little less happy with the noise level from the street. I would not recommend for a party of 6 adults, but it would accomodate a family with small children just fine. I really appreciated the closeness to Pike's Place Market, and lots of fine eateries. It was also very easy to find local transportation to/from the airport, and to/from the Space Needle, and even Bellevue.

When we first arrived-we could not reach anyone from Sky. I think if one is traveling with a small child and family with have number of luggages there should be someone to help us? I understand self service but no one to greet us to get us settled in??
We had no idea where to go-eventually figured out (asking strangers) we were at the wrong entrance-had to lug our 3-4 luggages up the elevators-etc. The huge cart was totally not proper equipment-if it was just my wife she couldn't been able to deal with heavy luggage to move into the apartment. We had no human contact for Sky during our stay 1520.
I think you definitely need air conditioning in your rooms. The place is too hot during summer. We are running the air cooler 24 hours..which I would think eats up electricity. With Air Conditioning unit would be much more efficient.
Your toilets don't flush well. I think those need to be checked out.
Overall the condition of the unit is ok...but definitely need to spruce up the is old-shower heads must be 25 years old. Chairs have seen better days-the springs are dead. Beds also have seen better days. Curtains please replace-totally inefficient and office like.
So let me point out the positive: Location and the view is fantastic. I love the fact that someone took the time to have many items for washing and cleaning etc. Kitchen is well furnished with everything. Given the location and if is spruced up I would be willing to pay additional 100 US a night for this unit... -

Easy in/out once you learned which floor certain doors opened to where you wanted - garage, first ave, western, store. Friends said fold out couch was surprisingly comfortable. Plenty of towels. We spent four days in Seattle at this apartment and the views were wonderful. You could spend hours at the window watching the activities in the bay. The location was perfect - we walked to everything except the Mariners game to which we took the Light Rail. We also took the Light Rail to and from the airport. There is a stop about two blocks from the apartment. Pike's Market is a few blocks away and there are lots of restaurants in the area. If you are not used to city noise you will need ear plugs to sleep. Also the blinds need to be repaired so you might consider bringing a sleep mask. But we were able to work around these minor problems and the positives far outweighed the negatives. The washer and dryer were a nice feature and the place was clean and well equipped. And we did not hear any noise from neighbors while we were there. We would definitely return here and Sea to Sky rentals was easy to work with.

Ideal location in Seattle for doing everything Seattle has to offer. Great place with beautiful views. My son enjoyed the pool and game room. The BBQ grills were super handy for cooking fresh fish from the Market.
We'll be back.
Only negatives:
- Noisy since it overlooks the highway - window glass is thin allowing noise to come through. Nice balcony, but way to loud to enjoy it.
-Carpets should be replaced - not a huge deal, but it woudl look better with new carpet. -

Left on 04/09/2012 for a stay in March 2012
This was the 2nd time that we stayed in this property and both times it was pretty spectacular. The view is aaaamazing no mater what time of the day you are looking out the windows and we had a sunset that was picture prize worthy. Location location location. A few blocks from Pike's market, shopping at West-lake, an easy walk to Pioneer square and the light rail is all of 1 block away when you need to travel a bit further then you want to walk. The 1st time we went here it was our anniversary and we had a extremely romantic time. The 2nd time we went with our 19 and 15 year old kids for spring break and it was a blast but it helps that we like spending time together to start with. The only slightly negative things were the road noise and one night it became very wind and the seals around the windows leaked and it could be heard. Bottom line is we will go back when ever possible because it is a great place to relax and spend time with whom ever you are with.

This place is fantastic! I kept the blinds open in the bedroom so I could watch the ferries come and go. It was magical seeing the water and mountains in the distance! I didn't hear any neighbor noise. I cooked most of my meals and found plenty of utensils and pots...wonderful! The only negative was all the spots on the carpet...not a pretty sight. Otherwise this was a FABULOUS stay!

Michelle at Sea2Sky was wonderful to work with in my search of the perfect place to stay close to my son's apartment in Seattle. We enjoyed Harbor Steps location. The apartment was well appointed with amazing views. The kitchen was adequately stocked with our needs. Another person had commented about the noise from alaskan Way and I found it to be true, however once I got used to it after the first two nights I was fine. There were just minor maintenance items that I have emailed about that I am sure will be addressed in the future, but neither deterred us from an amazing 8 nights at Harbor Steps. We enjoyed walking to Pike's Place Market for fish and vegetables to cook for dinner. Having the movies and popcorn made for a few relaxing nights. Being able to walk to Elliot's for our New Year's Eve dinner was great. We then drove to my son's apartment in Belltown to watch the fireworks from his garden roof top with an amazing view of the Space Needle. I would definitely recommend Sea@Sky Rentals to work with in finding a great place to say and Harbor Steps is fabulous. The view is worth every moment. I even saw Mt Rainier a time or two and the snow capped mountains of Bainbridge. Thank you!

One month stay, November 2011: Spectacular view, nice furnishings and modern, fully equipped kitchen. Terrific responsiveness from managers regarding any question or issues (i.e., although minor, issues such as such as non functioning remote and broken coffee pot were dealt with/replaced immediately). Fantastic location -- pretty much everything you'd want to see in Seattle is within walking distance. If I were to be very picky, I'd say it's time to clean the carpets and replace window blinds, but those are minor flaws to an otherwise wonderful place. I look forward to a return stay and would highly recommend Sea to Sky Rentals.

Thank you for your comments and accolades. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Regarding the carpets, your stay coincided with the beginning of our "Deep Clean" season which happens twice a year and involves thorough carpet and upholstery cleaning. Unfortunately, we were unable to schedule this prior to your arrival. We would love to replace the blinds however it is prohibted by the building management company. Thank you for choosing Sea To Sky Rentals for your Seattle lodging needs; it was a pleasure to host your extended stay. Keep in mind our 5% Return Guest Discount for your future stays!

Brian and Sea to Sky took care of our every need, including a complementary early check-in. #1520 Harbor Steps was the perfect location, and the 1100 square foot/2 bedroom/2 full bathroom unit more than accommodated our party of 5 adults. This was our first trip to Seattle and Harbor Steps is just a few blocks from everything - ferry to Bainbridge Island, Centurylink Field, Pike's Place Market, Macey's, Nordstroms, good restaurants, food and beverage retail stores, and on and on. When we were tired, we were more than content to sit and look at our fantastic view of the harbor. Other reviewers have commented on the carpet - while there are a few stains, the carpet is CLEAN! I guess that's why hotels have patterned carpets:)
Thanks again Sea to Sky, we will be back! -

5 weeks in a new environment is a definate learning experience. The location in the city was excellent. We were able to walk almost everywhere. I loved going to "market" daily for fresh veggies and meats. And the resturants were superb. Etta's, Seatown
Seabar, The Pink Door, Olivar, Jak's - well, YUM! The Fridays at Harbor Steps were fun with good music and great people. Our first pro soccer game couldn't have been a better experience. And the Seahawks were flying. The staff at Harbor Steps were knowledgeable
and very helpful and accomodating. They helped us with "what's and where's", solve mail issues, and even find a doctor in an emergency situation. Our only problem was the wireless internet in our condo. After days of on/off hook up we finally discovered that
we were able to stay connected to the wireless in the rental unit abouve us. The heat and noise were an expected distraction. The view and the location more than compensated for the inconvience. The reservation process was somewhat confused by the fact that
we stayed so long. Something about log term.short term leases and WA law. Also, we did call on a Sat. morning about a parking situation that we hoped to solve that day. We didn't recieve a return call from some lady at Sea2Sky until late the next day. Problem
solved - Saturday had passed. But with that being the biggest suprise, what a stay!!! The initial fresh flowers set the mood and all the "extras" in the unit gave us a true "home away from home". Thank you all. -

Had a great time and the view and location would be hard to beat. We went here for our 23rd anniversary and will be coming back for more. Took the light rail from the airport ($2.50 per person) which drops you off 1 block away from the apartment. This location puts you a few blocks from Pike's place market and maybe about 6 blocks to Pioneer Square. The only negative comment would be the road noise coming from the freeway below. This did not bother us but it might bother some. Looking forward to returning hopefully for a longer stay.

I would have rated this rental very satisfied throughout -- but we had a hiccup due to management double booking a community room which we had reserved (three months in advance) for a wedding rehearsal get together. They were most unhelpful in sorting the problem, which they initially blamed us for! Apart from that, the facility and location were superb, and we had a fantastic stay.

Thank you for your review of our condo at the Harbor Steps! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the condo, and sorry to hear that you experienced difficulties with reserving the community room. The community rooms are reserved through the concierge at the Harbor Steps and have no relation to Sea to Sky Rentals. While we have no control over the rental of onsite amenities, we are happy to speak to the Harbor Steps on behalf of our guests, as well as make suggestions for solutions.

It was a very hot week outside and the portable A/C unit couldn't keep up. The place could really use new window shades or blinds. Minor maintenance work is needed (e.g. counter edge molding in the bathroom coming up, stove drawer isn't on track, vacuum cleaner power cord has wires coming through the insulator, etc...). Over all it was a good place to rent and we would stay there again.
Note: The $40.00 initial grocery stocking option is a good i dea. We spent over $80.00 on basic groceries from the small grocery store located outside on the harbor steps :-). -

That about sums it up. The manager was quick to repair the broken vertical blinds and window latch. I found it unbelieveable that Sea and Sky referred to the unit as an "upgrade" from the condo I had chosen. They told us that the seasonal AC window unit"was not to be installed until the following week despite that the contrractadvertized aan airconditioning unit. A great view does not compensate for a sleepless week due to noise and heat. Perhaps the unit would be tolerable and the view better appreciated in the winter.

The location of this Apartment was perfect. It had an amazing view of the sound and Ferries going in and out. It is walking distance from the Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square, with a Tully's and a Market practically outside the door. The size was great and the flat screen makes watching movies wonderful. Minor maintenance issues include challenging blinds and difficulty shutting windows all the way (some of the latches were not working properly). All the main doors have double locks, so security was not an issue at all - especially on the 15th floor. The kitchen had everything we needed and even had quite a few extras - candles to add to the romance! We had a great weekend!

Initially we thought the traffic noise could be a problem but the fact that it was a general consistent and continual 'hum' didn't prevent adequate sleep. The air conditioner could prove slightly inadequate in the middle of summer. The small deli located near the apartment was very handy, with good quality food, albeit a little dearer than a larger food store, but for a short stay the convenience outwayed the small extra cost.

The amenities, like the washer and dryer, were definitely useful, especially when vacationing with 3 kids (all under the age of 3, including twin infants). Everything was neat and clean, and the rooms were spacious. We lucked out with very good weather, our home away from home was extremely comfortable, and the people were very nice. We couldn't have asked for anything better. Thanks!

We enjoyed staying close to Pike's Market Place. The view was fantastic. We did have difficulty figuring out the parking garage, but other than that everything was perfect.

By the time we were ready to leave we had become familiar with the location, and loved it. First days had some difficulty. Some of the support staff were excellent, others not as helpful. Would stay here again, especially now that we are more familiar with the area.

My husband and I enjoyed staying at the Harbor Steps very much. It is centraly located downtown...close to good shopping and excellent places to eat and have a few drinks....the management was a delight to work with and since our son lives in the Seattle area, we hope to stay there again.

This was the first time we had set up a "base of operations" for visiting family that was not in my parents home...what a great idea it was! The location was great, the view was breathtaking, and we had the good fortune to be there for the 4th of July...amazing. We will definitely be staying here again, and recommending to friends.

Lacked air conditioning, temps reached high 80's to low 90's during the day. A little uncomfortable even with breeze. Locals said it was unseasonably warm. Otherwise, a very fine condo.

Love our stay and plan to return. Only problem was finding the elevator in the parking garage. Read the instructions, couldn't find it. Went back to agent, asked her how to find the elevator, drove back into the garage, couldn't find it. Called the agent on cell phone for more instructions, couldn't find it. Finally parked on the street, used our key card to enter the building, then took the elevator down into the parking garage to see where the heck it was located. Was behind a door marked employees or custodial or something like that. Looked like the sign for the elevator described in the written instructions had been painted over. So our start was bad, but the rest of the stay was wonderful. We will return, and now we know where the @#%* elevator is located when we park our car.

We are very travel savvy, taking 6-8 trips all over the world each year. Went to Seattle to see our sons and stayed downtown at Harbour Steps and it was great. Everything was just right, service, accomodations, extra packages, all taken care of. Checkin and out was a breeze. Would use again in a heartbeat and recommend to do yourself a favor, use Sea to Sky

New York, NYTerrific Location, Extremely Helpful Staff, Apartment Needed Jus

Overall, the place and the staff was great. I would not hesitate to return or to recommend it to others. I just had one small observation. I thought whoever was in charge of cleaning/equipping the room could have had a better eye for detail. Lamps in the bedroom were missing lightbulbs and no replacements were there so I purchased some. Some of the cabinets in the kitchen had broken hinges & you had to be very careful lest the doors came off in your hand. The oven was filthy & when we turned it on to heat up some food, the apartment filled with smoke. Small problems that didn't really discourage us (except maybe in the moment). With a little eye to detail, these little things can easily be resolved. Again...a great stay!
