St. John's Apartments #203 is a large two bedroom with a combined kitchen/dining/living area. It's on the corner of East Pike and Harvard with a great view down to the street. East Pike Street is the main arterial that connects downtown Seattle with the Capitol Hill Neighborhood. St. John's is 17 blocks from the Pike Place Market, 8 blocks from the Washington State Convention Center and on the other side 3 - 5 blocks from the busy restaurant and bar area of Capitol Hill. We're right in-between, a great location. Across the street is a large grocery store, so it's very easy to stay at St. John's. We have six short term apartments and 17... long term rentals. You can view more photos and information on our website, which is linked below.
The apartment has two bedrooms. The master has a queen bed, nightstands, dresser, good closet space and a makeup/writing desk. There is a 40" TV in the master bedroom. The second bedroom has two adult sized twin beds. Adult sized means they are longer than typical twins, 8 inches longer--the length of a queen bed. They're much more comfortable when adults use them, and of course great for children as well. The second bedroom has a 32" TV, dresser and closet.
The main room combines the kitchen/dining and living areas. The dining room table is in the bump-out corner, giving it a great view down onto E. Pike and Harvard Avenue. We just love sitting there and people watching! The kitchen area is small, taking up one wall plus a nook area for the full sized refrigerator. There is an electric stove and large microwave plus small appliances like a toaster and blender and all the necessary cookware to prepare and enjoy meals in the apartment. We stock the fridge and cabinet with basic cooking essentials like cooking oil, salt and pepper etc. Also included is a coffee maker and both caffeinated and decaf coffees.
The living room area features a couch by American Leather. It's a very expensive couch but well worth it. It's comfortable for just sitting. And it's the most comfortable of all sleeper sofas when you pull it open to use as a bed. The platform is solid and the bed is a high density foam. Together it's just about as good as a real bed. We have this same bed in our one bedrooms #300 and 3308 and have had lots of compliments over the years as to how comfortable the sleeper is to sleep in.
Also in the living room area is a 40" Samsung LED TV. We have satellite TV so everything is in Hi-Def and there are over 100 channels including HBO. Plus there's a DVD player and a stereo with ipod/iphone dock. And of course there is high speed wireless internet.
The bathroom has a combined tub/shower. He entry hall is long with hooks for coats and umbrellas and a small set of shelves stocked with some non-essential items to make it homey. Included are some nice art/picture books, some Pulitzer Prize winning novels and toys for when younger people come visit.
Our manager, Johnny Sidorowicz, lives right next to apartment 203. He will be there to check you in and give you advice on neighborhood sights, etc.; anything you might need. We also have an assistant manager that lives in the building, so you're never without help if you want it. Of course the location is perfect with the grocery store across the street and all the restaurants and night spots around us. It's very easy to walk downtown and a car is really not necessary. Plus the bus stops one block away, if you don't want to walk. It's $1.50 to ride the bus and it's an easy straight shot downtown. But we are on a hill--Capitol Hill. You go down when going downtown. When coming back, it's up the steep hill. That's when the bus can look very pleasing!
You can reserve on-line through our website. There's an accurate availability calendar that will show any days that are available for each of our six apartments, and give you pricing. You can reserve on-line through the site if you wish.

We rented 2 apartments for the week between Christmas and New Years, with 11 people in our group total. The apartments were perfect for our group -- conveniently located near some wonderful restaurants & bars, walking distance from Pike Place Market, with all linens, kitchen appliances and shower toiletries provided. It was much cheaper, but significantly more comfortable, than any hotel.
There is a laundry room in the building, which is helpful for minimizing the amount of clothing needed.
The building manager (Johnny) was wonderful. He was very conversational, and was available to help with anything we needed -- for example, getting fresh towels mid-week (rather than washing them ourselves in the laundry room).
Our group was in Seattle to attend a friend's wedding -- we were all very impressed with both units, and will definitely stay at St. John's again.
Nice interior, night life can be questionable

First, the apartment itself was wonderful. It is well maintained, had fast internet, close to several restaurants, shops, and a grocery store. Getting to and from the apartment is easy, too.
That said, the night life in the area can get a bit colorful. The neighborhood by day is quite nice, but can be weird (noisy, lots of police activity) at night. We're not accustomed to city life like that, and ended up leaving early after having two events involving police right outside our window in the same night.
The apartment staff were very understanding, and refunded us our last night's stay, even though we never asked and never expected them to. To say that we were surprised by their level of service is an understatement.

A home in Seattle

We choose the St. John's strictly for location, but we would certainly use them again. The apartment was certainly large enough for both us and the extended family members who came to visit us while we were there. The staff went out of their way to make our stay of a week successful. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of bedding and linens. There is a full grocery and drug store literally across the street, which made it really easy to pick things up, even on rainy days.
If I have one proviso in my recommendation it's about the noise. I live in San Francisco on a busy street. But the noise from the sports bar across the street and the bar two buildings down was over the top even for me. If you are unused to city noise or if you are a particularly light sleeper, you might want to take that into consideration.
We love staying at St Johns

There are many things we love about the various rooms we have stayed in, such as the central location to Seattle downtown, the grocery store across the street, the great food downstairs, and the old building style. The only negative is the the bar across Pike St plays really loud music until late, late at night on the weekends, so you might want earplugs.

The Perfect Family Retreat!

We rented this wonderful apt for a mini-family reunion. Since we have family in Seattle, my sister and her family traveled from Jackonsville Florida, my Mom and I traveled from Northern California and my other sister traveled from Las Vegas Nevada and held our reunion at the St. Johns apts. It was great! There was plenty of room for our Seattle family to visit - the living room set up really lends itself to entertaining guests. The layout of the apt was perfect for our diverse group. The two bedrooms are separated by the hall and the living room/kitchen area can be closed off from the bedrooms. So those that wanted to sleep in could and those that rose early didn't disturb the rest of the group. The QFC grocery store across the street was amazing!! We prepared gourmet meals in our private kitchen. (the cheese shop was incredible!! plus the selection of wines was outstanding!) We were able to walk to public transit and Pikes Public Market. But if you sit at the bay window that overlooks Harvard and Pike you can watch the entire city stroll by. The diverse bars and resturants in the neighborhood were an extra plus. I highly recommend McMinnamins! We never had a lack of things to do. And Johnny and Christine who manage the property are the nicest people to deal with!! We really felt that for the price, this was the best bargin in Seattle, especially if your into people watching and really want the full Seattle experience. Do yourself a favor, if you're visiting Seattle, stay at the St. Johns!!

Neat apt. in a neat area, but there are some things you should k

This is a very cool apt in a very busy area. Since the street is busy and there are bars on the street, it can get a little loud at night, especially on the weekend. They have provided a sound machine to help with that. Also, if you are used to air conditioning and sleeping with a cool bedroom, the main master bedroom does not have a window unit, and it was too loud to sleep with the window open. The other bedroom and living room do. We ended up sleeping in the living room (the couch is a comfortable sofa bed) so it would be cool. If these few things wouldn't bother you, than this is a great place to stay. The management staff are great, you have a grocery store right next door, and many good restaurants within walking distance. Since we had originally planned to go in March, I don't think our problems would have been an issue then since it would have been cooler.
